Hey everyone! It's Monday morning here in New York City, and I'm practically bursting with excitement. Another week in this incredible metropolis, and I already know it's going to be filled with dazzling performances, fabulous fashion finds, and maybe even a spot of tutu-wearing on the subway (just kidding... maybe)! 😜
This week's blog is extra special, because this is the city I’ve been dreaming of since I was a little girl, mesmerized by the stories of my ballerina idols and the allure of the Broadway stage. So, you know I’m just brimming with joy and a healthy dose of pink-hued anticipation!
Now, before we dive into the whirlwind of this week, a quick recap on my mission in life, just in case you're new around here!
My name is Emma, and I'm a ballerina from Derbyshire, England. Now, you might be thinking: "A ballerina... what's she doing blogging about New York City?" Well, the truth is, this ballerina loves a little bit of everything. You'll find me swirling across the stage one moment, shopping for a new pair of ballet shoes the next, and snapping photos of my latest tutu-licious outfit moments later. And the most wonderful thing? It all started with a little pink tutu!
Ever since I was a little girl, I've always loved the colour pink. So, when I started ballet, I fell head over heels for my pink tutu. The way it twirled around me as I danced was magical. From there, my love for ballet blossomed into a full-blown passion. It took me on the road to dance performances, ballet classes, and all the way to New York City.
I decided to share my journey by creating the Pink Tutu blog – a fun space to share my love for dance, travel, and, of course, my favourite colour! Every week, I share stories about my travels, performances, and the adventures I find myself having. My blog is filled with tips for fellow tutu enthusiasts, style advice, and a whole heap of pink inspiration.
A Little Bit of Backstory
As for getting to live my big city dreams? That's all down to the magical world of ballet! Through performances, workshops, and even teaching classes, I’ve been lucky enough to fund my travel adventures. There's something magical about being able to explore the world with a twirl here and a leap there. And let me tell you, dancing in some of the world’s most stunning locations – like this city! – makes the hard work, late nights and hours of rehearsals all worth it.
This week, I’ve already been practicing in Central Park! (Yes, it's just as incredible as it looks in the movies.) Imagine, working on my pliés while admiring the cityscape – utter bliss! But don’t think that's the only thing I’ve got planned!
What’s in Store for the Week
It's the first Monday of May, which means… FASHION WEEK! I can already smell the heady mix of new perfumes, see the beautiful creations of new designers, and hear the clinking of glasses at all the parties! I'm looking forward to soaking up all the sartorial delights, keeping an eye out for new tutu-inspired designs. Who knows, maybe even my favourite designer is preparing a special collection just for me!
Beyond the fashion week festivities, my heart is set on catching a ballet performance by the New York City Ballet. It's something I've dreamt of for years, and I can't wait to experience the magic of ballet in this city. Speaking of magical, there's another show that's been tempting me – a spectacular new musical called "The Little Mermaid"! There’s nothing quite like Broadway to lift my spirits and I’m desperate to see all the glitter, glitz and gorgeous costumes! I’m practically bursting with excitement.
Of course, no trip to New York would be complete without a good dose of exploring! Whether it’s strolling through Times Square, hopping on a yellow cab to catch a glimpse of the Empire State Building, or soaking up the sights at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, I'm ready to soak up everything this incredible city has to offer. And who knows, I might even manage to squeeze in a few hours in Central Park. Maybe even attempt a ballet move or two amongst the stunning natural beauty.
