Pink Tutu Blog NYC - #990 - Monday, 2014-05-26 - A Tutu-tiful Time in the Big Apple!

Hello, darlings! It's Emma, your pink tutu-clad guide to all things fabulous, back from another whirlwind week in New York City! And this week has been positively sparkling, I tell you! As always, I'm going to take you on a journey through my fabulous adventures, from a ballet extravaganza to a fashion find that's simply divine.

Oh, and a little announcement before I start - don't forget, www.pink-tutu.com is always updated every Monday, so check in for more fun, fashion, and fabulousness!

This week, I was particularly thrilled to see a show that had everyone talking. "Giselle" at the New York City Ballet was magnificent - a classical masterpiece with so much passion and energy. Watching the dancers pirouette across the stage in their stunning tutus was an absolute dream - I mean, how can you not get inspired when surrounded by such graceful movement and artistic genius? It reminded me, once again, of the incredible power of ballet, to tell stories, move emotions, and simply take our breath away.

Of course, no visit to New York City is complete without a little retail therapy! And this time, I was lucky enough to stumble upon a divine vintage shop nestled in the heart of Greenwich Village. The shop, called "The Dressmaker's Daughter," was a haven of feminine frills, silk fabrics, and delicate lace - I swear, I felt like I was in a dream! My eyes went wide with delight as I saw an exquisite collection of vintage hats, gloves, and of course, tutus! - a glorious assortment of colors and styles, from romantic powder pinks to vibrant shocking corals. And I couldn't resist grabbing a vintage silk scarf, patterned with the most beautiful pastel floral motifs. I have a feeling this is going to become my signature piece this season - I mean, it's utterly fabulous, isn't it?

Another thing I love about this city is its vibrant cultural landscape. This week, I stumbled upon a street performance in Washington Square Park. This young street artist, dressed in the most vibrant purple clothing, was using his body to create a human statue, literally - his poses were incredible, the expression on his face utterly mesmerising! It made me think about how art, in all its forms, is truly everywhere in this city. It's not just on stage or in galleries - it's in the streets, on the walls, and even in the smiles of the people walking by.

As usual, my travels wouldn't be complete without a delicious brunch! This week, I had a delightful time at a little cafe called "The Little Cupcake" - perfect for indulging in a sweet treat. Their cupcakes were simply heavenly, a sugary cloud of delight.

My evening was spent exploring the vibrant Broadway scene. I snagged a last-minute ticket to see "The Book of Mormon". Now, this musical was wildly funny! The costumes were fantastic - colourful, whimsical, and utterly original, making me want to throw on my own pink tutu and join in!

Speaking of pink tutus, darlings, I must admit that this city does inspire some fantastic fashion moments! On my trip to Times Square, a haven of sparkling lights and dazzling displays, I was struck by a couple in the most charmingly mismatched outfits. She had on a stunning cobalt blue maxi dress, cinched at the waist with a silver belt, and he wore a pair of pristine white trousers and a vibrant coral shirt, the colours somehow clashing yet harmonizing perfectly! It just goes to show, fashion can be anything you want it to be!

Of course, my journey wouldn't be complete without taking a trip on the metro - the absolute heartbeat of New York City. Watching the bustling crowd, a mix of tourists, commuters, and city dwellers rushing by, always reminds me that we're all connected, each one of us on a different journey, and that this city truly embraces the unique charm of every individual.

As I reflect on another fabulous week in the Big Apple, I can't help but feel truly inspired. New York City has a way of invigorating your spirit, igniting your imagination, and reminding you of the beauty and excitement of life. Whether you're sipping tea in a charming cafe, watching the sunset over the Hudson, or dancing the night away, this city offers endless opportunities to create your own unique and magical experiences.

I hope my adventures have inspired you, dear reader! Never be afraid to embrace the magic of a pink tutu, to explore, to be creative, and most of all, to simply be yourself.

Until next Monday, keep dancing, darlings, and always remember - it's never too late to twirl in a pink tutu!

Love, Emma x
