Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post #994 - She Danced in the Big Apple!

Hello my gorgeous tutu-loving lovelies!

Itā€™s Monday morning, the sun is shining, and Emmaā€™s here with another fabulous update from the bustling, glamorous city that never sleepsā€¦ New York City! Can you believe itā€™s already the 23rd of June? It feels like I only arrived yesterday, but the days are just flying by. I'm packing in every bit of adventure, beauty, and tutus that this amazing city has to offer!

Now, before we get into all the excitement, a quick little confession ā€“ I might just have a teeny obsession with pink tutus! And yes, it is 100% possible to wear one in this metropolis, just as I did at Lincoln Center last night. Let's face it, my darling tutus are as much a part of my everyday wardrobe as my favourite pair of heels. They say fashion is an attitude, right? And let me tell you, this tutu has attitude to spare!

Last week, I had the honour of performing in an absolutely spectacular ballet piece with the Gotham Ballet at the glorious Metropolitan Opera House. You see, my sweet friends, my life as a travelling ballerina involves dancing across the world, and New York City has been on my dance card for a long time!

A Londoner in NYC

Speaking of dreams coming true, this trip was particularly special because my dearest friend Alice is now living in London, and weā€™d both been aching to experience the magic of New York City together. So, we joined forces, armed with our most fabulous tutus, and went on a mini-adventure. Of course, the first stop had to be the legendary Times Square. The bright lights, the towering billboards, and the electric buzz were simply exhilarating! It's truly one of those iconic places that you simply have to experience, whether you're a fashion-forward tutu-wearer like myself or a casual observer. We did some truly terrible karaoke at a nearby bar, drank an unholy amount of pink lemonade, and then spent a lovely afternoon window-shopping on 5th Avenue, where Alice found a vintage Louis Vuitton purse (sheā€™s got impeccable taste, doesnā€™t she?!).

That evening, we treated ourselves to a show on Broadway. Weā€™ve seen so many fantastic performances here already - everything from classic musicals to edgy modern theatre. Thereā€™s truly something for every taste in this city.

This time we chose "Wicked," and let me tell you, my dear friends, it was simply enchanting! I found myself humming along to the iconic songs for days after, and those magnificent costumes had me seriously wishing I was on stage, pirouette-ing in their shimmering, bejeweled glory.

The thing I love about New York City, however, is its complete lack of judgment. Whether I'm waltzing through Central Park with a giant pink tutu, hopping on the metro (by the way, have you seen those fabulously vibrant designs on some of the subway cars?!), or strutting my stuff at the iconic 9/11 Memorial, everyone around me just seems to accept it as part of their daily life. Theyā€™re so used to seeing all kinds of fashion choices here - it's truly liberating!

Of course, no trip to NYC is complete without indulging in the ultimate fashion experience ā€“ shopping on Fifth Avenue! My Tutu Travels are all about finding the perfect outfits to dance through life in style, so a little spree was absolutely essential.

I walked out of that fabulous Fifth Avenue department store feeling like a modern day princess in my perfectly pink ensemble. Letā€™s just say it involved a whole lot of sparkle and ruffles, not to mention an incredible pink tutu, perfect for strutting the streets of the Big Apple.

Tutu Inspiration - Everywhere!

Oh my dears, have you heard of the phenomenon that is ā€œballet street?ā€ Imagine, if you will, the joy of seeing dancers all across New York City gracefully flowing through the city streets in their everyday life.

You can practically see them leaping off sidewalks, pliĆ©ing on street corners, and striking their poses amidst the busy streets of New York! Itā€™s become such a popular pastime and an incredible sight! My heart, it melts!

Of course, you wouldn't find me without my little tutu in tow! This time, I opted for a beautiful lavender one that danced in the breeze as I took a leisurely stroll through the charming, quaint neighbourhood of Greenwich Village. The pastel buildings and quaint cafes reminded me of a scene from a film ā€“ in fact, my darling, a movie set was actually filming there. My camera simply had to be there!

The other day, my darling Alice, who is the most incredible chef in the whole world, took me to the incredible market in Union Square Greenmarket for some delightful delicacies! Now, donā€™t go thinking this was a normal farmerā€™s market ā€“ itā€™s a symphony of flavour! It truly had me swooning ā€“ all those colourful fruits and vegetables piled high, beautiful handmade crafts, artisan baked goods and fresh seafood. Honestly, I practically wanted to dance with joy!

Speaking of deliciousness, there's no shortage of culinary delights in NYC. From trendy, hipster cafes to elegant, high-end restaurants, you're guaranteed to find something to tickle your tastebuds. For me, it was all about the pink delights ā€“ pink lemonade, pink cakes, even a pink ice cream sundae! After all, itā€™s only right for a tutu-wearing princess!

On the whole, my travels in NYC so far have been a whirl of excitement, glitz, glamour, and of course, a dash of tutus. What can I say? It truly is my kind of adventure! I can't wait to share even more of my incredible New York journey with you! Be sure to come back next week for another dose of Pink Tutu Blog NYC. Until then, go out there and dance, wear a pink tutu, and don't be afraid to embrace life with a touch of whimsy and elegance!

Love and twirls,

Emma
