Hello, my lovelies! Welcome to my blog, Pink Tutu NYC. Today's post is a rather special one for me; this is my 1002nd blog post about my adventures in the Big Apple! I know, it’s hard to believe it’s been that long since I first donned my pink tutu and hopped on a plane from rainy Derbyshire.
A City That Never Sleeps, In Pink!
New York, New York! What can I say, it's been an amazing whirlwind of a week. I've danced, I've shopped, I've seen a show (and maybe squeezed in a few cupcakes!), all while my pink tutu twirled with glee. I swear, this city's energy is contagious! And let's face it, it just wouldn't be the same without a healthy dose of pink, right?
My Ballet Life in NYC
As usual, my week started at the barre. You just can’t beat the thrill of joining a class with talented dancers from all over the world. It’s so inspiring. This week I was at a class at The School of American Ballet on West 63rd Street. It’s amazing being surrounded by so much talent.
And speaking of talent, on Friday I saw the most exquisite ballet at Lincoln Center. I was completely enthralled. You know how much I adore ballet! Every move was so beautiful. The dancers' energy, their passion...it left me utterly captivated. It was a joy, just a joy!
Fashion Find of the Week
What's a Pink Tutu Blog post without a little fashion inspiration? Well, let's just say this week was all about discovering a treasure trove of amazing accessories at a vintage shop on Bleecker Street! Think vintage scarves with stunning embroidery, delicate gold necklaces, and the most beautiful pair of pink gloves you've ever seen! It’s truly a fashion paradise.
Taking the Subway - NYC's Pink Lines
This week has seen me using the subway a lot! The subway here in New York has some fun coloured lines - they're mostly reds, blues, greens and yellows but guess what? My absolute favourite line is the pink line! Yep, you guessed it, it's the ‘A’ line! Of course, I couldn't resist the pink line and took a journey on it this weekend!
What's On? - This Week In New York
Here's what's happening this week for all you ballet lovers! There’s a spectacular ‘Sleeping Beauty’ production starting this Thursday, at the New York City Ballet. There’s also an amazing Ballet Dance performance in Bryant Park tonight! Oh, how I wish I could be at both. Sadly, there’s only one me, and one pink tutu!
Travel Inspiration - Where to Next?
While New York City always holds a special place in my heart, I can’t help but be drawn to new places and exciting experiences. I've had my eye on Paris for quite some time now. The iconic Eiffel Tower, the charming cobbled streets, and the breathtaking ballet at the Palais Garnier – I’m just so excited at the prospect of experiencing it all!
Finding My Inspiration
There's always something to inspire you in this incredible city! For me, a day in New York isn't complete without indulging in a delicious cupcake from Magnolia Bakery - I always go for the pink velvet, of course. And speaking of inspiration, a little walk through Central Park does wonders for my creativity! The park’s colourfully dressed runners, the elegant swans gliding through the lake, the children laughing and playing - it all gives me so much joy.
Let's Talk Tutus!
The ultimate goal here? Get everyone wearing a pink tutu. Imagine walking through Times Square, or catching the subway, surrounded by the beautiful shades of pink! I really believe it’d add a splash of joy and lightheartedness to every corner of this incredible city.
