Pink Tutu Blog NYC: #1038 Monday 2015-04-27

Hello lovelies! It's Monday, which means it's time for a new Pink Tutu Blog post! This week I'm bringing you the most fabulous time I had in New York City, the most wonderful, vibrant and exciting city on the planet!

Remember last week, how I mentioned my latest ballet gig in Derbyshire was funding a little trip across the pond? Well, here's what went down, all wrapped up in the most spectacular shade of pink, of course!

Arrival, Arrival

New York is like a whole new world, especially compared to sleepy Derbyshire! As my taxi trundled through the streets of Manhattan, my heart was beating faster than a hummingbird's wings! The sheer energy and buzz of the city were just exhilarating. I quickly checked into my little pink hotel (no spoilers!), and before the jet lag even had a chance to settle in, I was out the door, tutu and all, ready to conquer the city!

First Stop: Time Square!

You can't go to New York without a good dose of Time Square. I had a super-pink sparkly tutu on, ready to blend in with all the bright lights. (Remember, the more sparkle, the better! The city is just begging to be sparkled up). Of course, there had to be some street food! Honestly, I ate the most amazing slice of pizza ever in the heart of Time Square, while twirling under the gaze of those ginormous advertising billboards! Who wouldn't feel like a superstar?!

Subway Style

I'm a huge fan of public transport. The New York subway is truly something else! Not only is it efficient, but it's an absolute fashion show! Where else can you see a fashion designer with a fluffy pink boa, a ballerina in a sparkly tutu, and a punk rocker all crammed into one carriage? The subway is like a glimpse into the kaleidoscope of New York style. And you can bet your bottom dollar, I added a touch of Pink Tutu flair!

Theatrical Thrills

Of course, no trip to NYC would be complete without a Broadway show. I had been yearning to see the stunning revival of Les Miserables. This musical is absolutely breathtaking - such raw emotion, captivating melodies and incredibly talented actors. The grandeur of the costumes and the stunning choreography stole my heart. I truly believe there's nothing more captivating than a good old-fashioned musical!

Fashion Fandango!

No visit to NYC would be complete without a touch of retail therapy! From vintage stores with fabulous hats and fur coats to the sleek boutiques with the latest trends, New York's retail scene is like a dreamscape for any fashionista. And let me tell you, my own shopping trip was positively delightful! I managed to pick up a pair of vintage-style ballerina flats that fit perfectly with my love for all things pink and pretty, plus a super cute, vintage inspired jacket with floral appliques.

More Theatre Magic

You know I'm always up for an exciting performance! And this weekend did not disappoint. One of my biggest wishes finally came true when I got to see the legendary Riverdance on Broadway. Wow, just wow! The dance steps are incredibly challenging and mesmerizing, and the live music was absolutely unforgettable. You really can't get away from those fantastic clicks of their dancing shoes! They set a very high bar for any performer - it definitely inspired me to up my game in the world of ballet.

More than a Ballet Dancer

For those who don't know, I am more than just a tutu-clad ballerina. It might seem strange, but ballet has also inspired me to take my passion for style, fashion and beauty to another level!

Over the past year I've worked tirelessly with some incredible creative minds to launch a collection of ethically sourced and sustainable clothing that promotes both femininity and grace. Yes, the collection includes some divine pink tutus (they were absolutely flying off the shelves, and rightfully so!) alongside classic silhouettes, dresses, and beautiful pieces that can transition effortlessly from day to night. All of this with the belief that beauty doesn't need to be compromised.

My aim, my dream? To bring a little bit of pink tutu magic into the world! If I can make people feel empowered, joyful and confident through fashion and art, then my job is done. That is why I strive to create garments and pieces that celebrate beauty in its truest form - that celebrate individuality, confidence and femininity.

Coming up next

So there you have it, another amazing week in New York City! But you know, adventures are always on the horizon, and this little ballerina is ready for more!

Coming up this week, I'll be heading back to the world of classical ballet - attending an amazing ballet performance at Lincoln Center! Yes, New York isn't all about sparkle and Broadway! There is so much wonderful artistry on display, and I cannot wait to experience it all in this exciting city.

For those who can't make it, keep your eyes glued to this blog - I'll be sharing my top tips on making the most of your next trip to the Big Apple. You know me, I love a good bargain!

Until then, keep twirling, stay fabulous, and remember: You too can wear a pink tutu! Because when you do, you bring a little magic into the world, and I just know youโ€™ve got that magic inside you, darling!

Much Love,

Emma xx
