Pink Tutu Blog NYC: #1047 - Twirling Through the Big Apple

Good morning, darlings! It's Monday, the 29th of June, 2015, and I'm writing to you from the bustling heart of New York City. It's been a whirlwind weekend, filled with all things fabulous โ€“ fashion, food, and, of course, ballet!

Let me tell you, the city is abuzz with energy. Even the metro felt like a runway. I had a lovely chat with a fellow ballerina on my way to a show at Lincoln Center, and her pink pointe shoes were just the most darling shade of flamingo! We giggled about the shared love for tutus and talked about all the brilliant performances we were seeing that weekend.

But first, let's rewind back to my Saturday adventure, shall we? I'd always dreamed of being a proper fashionista, sauntering down the streets of Manhattan in the most chic ensembles. This Saturday, my dreams came true. I started the day in my favourite pink polka-dot dress, paired with a statement pink tulle tutu for a touch of whimsical charm. The streets felt like an open-air runway, and I was ready to rock!

My first stop was at Bergdorf Goodman โ€“ oh, darling, that place is pure luxury! Every single piece is a work of art. I even spotted a pink satin top, the colour of bubblegum! I'll admit, I indulged in a tiny splurge on a beautiful pair of pink pearl earrings, just perfect for a night out.

After my Bergdorf escapade, I was feeling famished, so I indulged in a delicious lunch at The Spotted Pig in Greenwich Village. It's so chic and charming. Their signature dish, the roasted pig, is heavenly โ€“ a true culinary masterpiece! It's a real must-try if you're ever in the area, darling!

Saturday evening brought an absolute delight โ€“ a performance of Swan Lake at the New York City Ballet! My breath was taken away by the grace and precision of the dancers. They moved like swans on the water, every pirouette a perfect symphony of motion. The tutus were absolutely breathtaking, all layered tulle and shimmering silk โ€“ every single one worthy of its own fashion magazine spread!

I was so inspired by the ballerinas' dedication to their art. After the show, I popped over to Baryshnikov Arts Center and took a masterclass. I may have only been a bit rusty from my last class, but it was the perfect reminder of how amazing the feeling is, every single time you take those steps.

Sunday was a day dedicated to exploring New York City's theatre scene. After a quick pit stop for a spot of tea and scones at Alice's Tea Cup (a true hidden gem in Greenwich Village), I headed to Broadway, with the vibrant street performers weaving their magic into the lively atmosphere.

Later that evening, I sat entranced at a stunning Broadway production. Oh, the costumes were incredible! From dazzling sequins to feathered boas, they transported me to another world. Every single detail was perfect, each costume a small masterpiece. I came back to my hotel buzzing with creative energy and excitement.

As I write this, nestled in my cozy little hotel room, overlooking the glittering city lights, I'm feeling truly blessed. New York is just the most wonderful place for a tutu-loving ballerina like me. From the elegant fashion boutiques to the dazzling theatre performances, it's a haven of art, beauty, and inspiration.

It's just been so inspiring. Every single experience, from those perfect pink pointe shoes I spotted in the metro to the breathtaking Broadway costumes, itโ€™s all part of the unique energy that fills this extraordinary city.

And guess what? It doesnโ€™t end here, because this week I have more ballet classes, even more exciting fashion finds, and possibly even a ballet performance in Central Park โ€“ if you can believe it!

Until next Monday, darlings, remember to twirl with joy and never, ever let go of your dreams, especially that little pink tutu-wearing part of you. You never know, you might just be the next big fashion icon.

Yours always,

Emma
