Hey darlings! It’s Emma here, back with another exciting instalment of my New York adventures! As you know, this week is all about exploring the Big Apple in my signature pink tutu. Oh, how I love this city! It's buzzing with life, brimming with style, and oh so welcoming to a tutu-loving girl like me!
Today I’m hopping off the subway, my pink tutu fluttering in the gentle autumn breeze. I’m ready to conquer another day, fuelled by my love of all things girly and a good cup of coffee from my favourite cafe. Oh, this place… New York has it all! The energy, the style, the art… and of course, the incredible theatre and ballet!
So, where am I off to this time? Well, today’s a special day for me. I'm finally going to see American Ballet Theatre’s Swan Lake! It's been a dream of mine since I was a little girl watching old videos of Gelsey Kirkland. The sheer majesty and beauty of the ballet have always captivated me. The music, the story, the elegance… It's all pure magic!
To celebrate, I've put together a delightful ensemble that blends New York street style with my signature pink tutu, of course! My outfit today features a fitted black dress with a stylish white trim. I’ve topped it off with my darling vintage pink tweed jacket. It's got those chunky gold buttons, and you just know it was made for me! And what better accessory for this ballet adventure than my pink tulle tutu with its fluttering tiers and sparkling diamantés! This tutu is like a tiny ballerina dream come true, swirling and twirling with me as I dance through the city.
And for those who don’t know, I’ve earned myself the privilege of travelling around the world doing what I love: dancing! And how do I fund these glorious trips, you might ask? It’s all down to the magic of ballet! I perform at private events, charity galas, even in the grand old theatres like London's West End. You wouldn’t believe the people I meet and the adventures I have! I even teach ballet to little ones, sharing my love of the art with the next generation.
But this city… it’s something special. The theatres here…shudders with excitement. They just whisper tales of greatness!
I know it might seem a bit daring, wearing my pink tutu around the bustling streets of New York City, but I just love how it makes people smile! The joy and laughter it brings makes it all worth it. The looks of curiosity, the polite "Oh, so pretty!" remarks – I've found that most New Yorkers have a mischievous twinkle in their eyes and love a bit of quirky charm! It’s not so far from Derbyshire really, people love their traditions here in New York, too! Although they’d be the first to tell you, they have way more choices!
My adventure continues after the show… I'm indulging in a well-deserved dinner at this lovely little restaurant near Times Square. They’ve got a wonderful lobster bisque soup, which always warms the soul and adds to that cozy New York atmosphere. And of course, I'm not going to leave without trying the iconic cheesecake – I hear the one served here is a legend in itself!
*But before the dinner, before the show, I just want to say… *
If there’s one thing that shines through in this amazing city, it’s the passion for performance and a touch of artistic magic. Just being surrounded by these stories, these talented souls… It's inspiring! You never know, perhaps this New York adventure will even inspire me to write my own ballet, maybe even my own choreography? Who knows what magic awaits in this bustling metropolis!
You know, being a pink tutu blogger in a city like New York makes me realise that there’s no such thing as ‘too much’! More pink, more sparkle, more glitter, more music, more dreams… The more you fill your life with what makes your heart sing, the better, don’t you think? It's just another day in my exciting pink-tutu-infused life, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
