#PinkTutuBlogNYC: New York, New York, You're My Heart's Desire (Post #1075)
Hello my darling tutu-lovers! It's Monday again, which means it's time for another #PinkTutuBlogNYC post, straight from the heart of the Big Apple! ๐
This week, I'm writing to you from a chic little cafe on Bleecker Street, my head spinning from a whirlwind weekend of dance, fashion, and a whole lot of pink! Let me tell you, New York really does have it all!
First things first, this weekend I had the absolute pleasure of seeing "The Nutcracker" at Lincoln Center. Oh my goodness, it was utterly magical! The costumes were stunning, the dancers were flawless, and the music simply transported me to a winter wonderland. I'm still humming "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" in my head! ๐ฉฐ
Speaking of the "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy", have you seen the ballet shoes in the new collection at Bergdorf Goodman? They are just to die for! My little tutu heart skipped a beat when I spotted them. They're a gorgeous pale pink, just like my tutu (of course!), and have the most exquisite satin bows. Honestly, I may have splurged a little and treated myself. ๐คซ
The joy of wearing pink doesn't end at my feet. My new pink feather boa, purchased at a fabulous little vintage store on the Upper East Side, was a real head-turner this weekend! It's the perfect accessory for a night out on the town and a sure-fire way to brighten up any outfit! ๐ธ
And speaking of outfits, I just HAVE to tell you about the delightful vintage tea party I attended at the Alice's Tea Cup on Friday! I mean, it's New York City, and even the tea parties are chic! We had sandwiches, scones, clotted cream, the whole shebang. I felt like I was stepping into a Jane Austen novel! My pink tutu fit perfectly with the overall charm and whimsy. Honestly, it's such a joy to add a touch of tutu-licious flair to everyday occasions. ๐
I wouldn't be true to myself, and to the #PinkTutuBlogNYC ethos, if I didn't mention my favourite way to get around this crazy city: the metro! Seriously, it's a whole performance art in itself. I love observing the people, listening to the rhythm of the train, and, of course, watching how people react when they see a pink tutu gliding past. (There's usually a lot of smiles and curious glances. I love it!)
You know what else? This past weekend was a perfect illustration of the amazing dance scene that thrives in New York City. I got to see a contemporary ballet performance at the Ailey Citigroup Theatre and it left me speechless! The movements were raw, emotional, and truly captivating. I even got to chat with one of the dancers after the show! Turns out, he used to be from Derbyshire too, can you believe it?! We talked about our favourite pubs back home and it warmed my heart to feel that connection to the countryside even in the midst of this city's madness!
As you know, my travels are funded by performing in a series of local ballet productions, from grand theaters to intimate studio spaces. It's incredibly rewarding, connecting with audiences and spreading the joy of dance. And I can honestly say that my life as a traveling tutu-loving ballerina is simply the best!
If you're planning a trip to the Big Apple, I highly recommend checking out a Broadway show! There are so many incredible performances to see, from timeless classics to contemporary masterpieces. If you are a fan of dance, New York has a world of shows for you to enjoy! Don't forget to dress up for the occasion - a pink tutu is always the perfect choice for a Broadway show, don't you think?
Anyway, my darling readers, I must be off! This city calls, and I've got a pink-tutu-wearing adventure to embark upon! Until next Monday, remember to embrace your inner ballerina and spread the love of pink tutus wherever you go!
Yours in pink and sparkles,
Emma xx
