Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post #1079 - A Tutuful Time in The City That Never Sleeps!

Monday, February 8th, 2016

Darling readers! I'm back in New York City, and oh, how I missed you! It's been a whirlwind week here in the Big Apple, with a schedule so jam-packed that even the most dedicated tutu-wearing ballerina would need a spare pair of pointe shoes.

Let me tell you, the air crackles with excitement in New York. It’s a city that seems to constantly hum with a contagious energy, one that makes you want to pirouette your way down Fifth Avenue and shout “En Pointe!” from the top of the Empire State Building!

I arrived late last week after a rather comical journey. The Metro, you see, decided to treat me to an impromptu performance of its own. I swear it did a little jig as it suddenly jolted to a halt in the middle of a tunnel. Honestly, I could have danced circles around it! Thankfully, a kind chap helped me navigate my way back to the surface, so I could then find my way to my temporary haven - a beautiful, pink-hued hotel overlooking the Central Park.

Fashion Frenzy

Now, as a confirmed fashion devotee, there’s no greater joy than strolling through the sartorial havens of this city. Last week, I was positively giddy in Barney’s New York! The shoes – ah, the shoes! The whole place was like a Cinderella dream. I ended up snagging a stunning pair of red ballet flats, the perfect touch of colour to brighten my tutu wardrobe! Speaking of tutus, my newest addition is a pale pink tulle dream, so perfect for the city's endless evening events. It's going to be my "star of the show" this week!

Dance-filled Days

One of my highlights this past week was seeing "Swan Lake" at the Metropolitan Opera. The staging was breathtaking, and the ballerina's performance was simply magical. Her leaps seemed effortless, her pirouettes hypnotic. The music, the costumes, the overall magic – it made me yearn to dance myself, and you can bet I’m planning to make time for a few ballet classes before I head home.

This week, though, the main event is a grand affair: the "Winter Garden Gala"! Oh, how I am looking forward to this. It’s going to be an extraordinary night, with champagne, glamour, and an abundance of breathtaking talent. Of course, I’ve been busy planning my outfit - something that's both stylish and, you guessed it, pink! After all, there's never enough pink, and my favourite accessory is always my signature pink tutu, which I've been planning to pair with a chic black lace dress for this special occasion.

Spreading the Tutu Love

As usual, I've been making waves with my pink tutu in the city. I had several impromptu ballet sessions with some adorable youngsters in Central Park! My, but they have such enthusiasm and joy, and you know, after just a few minutes, even the grumpiest passerby would be swept away by the pure magic of it all! You'd be surprised how many strangers are willing to put on a tutu! Who would have thought it, right?

I do love this city and all it has to offer. But then, you see, when you are wrapped up in your own happy bubble of pink tulle and your toes are happily tapping, there’s not much that can truly spoil your day!

My travels have been made possible by my ballet performances. Oh, how lucky am I to dance, and have it fund my grand adventures? My fellow dancers back in Derbyshire would agree – it’s a good life, a magical life!

But for now, it's back to New York! It’s Monday, and it’s time to conquer the city with a pink tutu and a smile on my face!

Until next week,

Emma xox
