Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post #1089 – A Whirlwind of Pink in the Big Apple!

Hello my dearest tutu-loving darlings! It’s Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad blogger, ready to whisk you away to the vibrant streets of New York City for another week of adventures!

It’s Monday, 18th April, 2016 – the day I get to share my New York escapades with you lovely lot! I’m typing away in my cosy little hotel room, feeling utterly fabulous in my blush pink tutu, adorned with sparkly diamantés, of course!

Last week, I was fortunate enough to be invited to perform in a prestigious ballet competition at the legendary Lincoln Center in Manhattan. Talk about a dream come true! And let me tell you, my tutu had all the city’s bright lights sparkling right back at it. It was quite a sight!

Now, you know how much I adore the metro here in New York – the energy is contagious, and there’s nothing more satisfying than the rush of arriving at a new destination in this bustling city. And the underground itself is full of fabulous, fashionable folk. Honestly, the outfits some of them sport would make a fashion designer jealous! But, there’s one thing I haven’t seen enough of – pink tutus. That’s where I come in! I aim to spread the joy of pink tutus far and wide, one twirl at a time. You could even say it’s my personal mission in life.

I kicked off my week by hopping on the A train from my lovely, centrally located hotel, ready to hit the Broadway theatres for a matinee show. There's nothing like the sheer joy of witnessing live performance, feeling the raw energy of talented actors and singers – and it's always exciting to see the fashion parade through the streets of Times Square on a theatre day! This week, I indulged in a sumptuous musical – a heartwarming story with stunning choreography, which just made me want to pirouette the night away myself!

Speaking of pirouettes, I managed to squeeze in a ballet class on Friday at the renowned Steps on Broadway dance studio. I know, I’m incredibly lucky! These are the classes that many dancers dream of attending – legendary instructors, intense training, and all the support and inspiration a dancer could need! But honestly, what I love most is just soaking up the infectious energy in a room filled with talented individuals. It’s quite magical, really! Plus, who can say no to a twirl in the city that never sleeps?

Then, as soon as class finished, I practically skipped over to Bloomingdale’s, you see I just had to have that new sequined pink clutch I’d been eyeing! There's something special about browsing fashion and feeling the allure of those amazing clothes, shoes, and bags – I love that burst of excitement! And this clutch, oh this clutch is pure pink magic, I’m so excited to debut it at my next performance!

My Saturdays are for soaking up the culture that makes New York City such a fabulous city! This Saturday, I treated myself to a delicious brunch at one of those fabulous cafe’s where the atmosphere buzzes with energy and conversation – there was nothing better than my favourite brunch in New York City (yes, you all know I love a good blueberry pancake) accompanied by an Americano, while gazing out over the iconic cityscape. The view was just magnificent, a kaleidoscope of colour and life against a vibrant sky!

After brunch, I indulged my love for a good, dramatic, musical spectacle at the Broadway Theatre. Honestly, New York never disappoints! I love to lose myself in a story brought to life with dazzling costumes, breathtaking sets, and just about enough glitter and sequins to satisfy my glitzy heart. It’s the ultimate way to spend a Saturday night, don’t you think?

The afternoon was all about experiencing some more artistic treasures – the Frick Collection. I adore getting lost in art galleries, immersing myself in beautiful paintings and sculptures, it always fills me with a sense of awe. There is a certain aura about museums and galleries that just fills me with joy! And this time, I was struck by this captivating portrait by a favourite artist - don’t forget to check out the paintings on my Instagram for a peek at my favourites from this exhibition! I think I stayed a bit longer than expected, just standing in front of the masterpiece, completely lost in its beauty and detail – it was simply sublime.

After that, a walk in Central Park was in order. I’m just absolutely in love with the vast greenery and its calming aura – just a chance to breathe deeply and escape the hustle and bustle for a little while! I find I even manage a few graceful ballet poses while walking around in the park, making sure to admire all the wonderful street musicians, who add an extra layer of charm to the environment.

Oh, and remember how I’m so very Derbyshire in my heart, you all know my roots are in England's picturesque Peak District – so I really enjoyed taking in the stunning sights and vibrant culture of New York, feeling so proud of my Derbyshire roots and sharing my passion for life, travel and dance with my dear New York friends and followers. It’s always wonderful to make those connections across the globe, right?

And Sunday morning – after a quick walk and a cup of coffee – I just had to go back to the shops! I love to take inspiration from the bustling, creative energy of this amazing city! You can find everything imaginable here in New York and it just ignites my imagination.

Later, after another yummy dinner with some friends, I finished the week by relaxing with my favourite book. There’s something about a cosy night in after a week in this fantastic city. It's about finding the quiet moment to reflect on the wonderful things I’ve seen and experienced, reflecting on my amazing week and looking forward to what the future holds!

As always, I hope you all enjoyed my little glimpse into my adventures in the city that never sleeps! You’ll just have to trust me when I say that a tutu and New York just go hand-in-hand. So go ahead and wear yours, darlings! The world needs a splash of pink and twirling joy.

Now, I’m off to explore a little more of this incredible city, and who knows what fabulous things might await? Stay tuned to www.pink-tutu.com, and let’s keep dancing through life together.

Until next week, stay beautiful and don’t forget to twirl!

Emma xoxo
