Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post 1088 - She Danced in the City that Never Sleeps!

Hello lovelies! It's Monday morning and I'm back from my latest adventure in the Big Apple - New York City, baby! 🗽 💖 It's always so exciting to be back in this dazzling, vibrant city.

I know, you're thinking: "But Emma, you're practically a regular now in New York. What's new?"

Well, let me tell you, darling, this trip was different! You see, I was here for a special reason: to attend a ballet performance at the Lincoln Center. As soon as I booked my tickets, I knew exactly which pink tutu to pack (it's a classic!). Let's just say I'm not a stranger to a little bit of glam and glitz! 😉

Getting My Glitter On: Fashion in the City That Never Sleeps!

But before the big performance, there was a little bit of exploring to be done, of course! You know how I love me a bit of fashion. New York never disappoints when it comes to stunning boutiques, dazzling displays and, dare I say it, divine discounts.

You bet your bottom dollar that I got my pink-loving heart racing in a very stylish little vintage boutique. Oh my goodness! This shop was bursting at the seams with glorious retro finds -think frothy, layered, girly-girl dresses with plenty of pastel hues (duh!), a few snazzy hats and even a couple of pairs of killer stilettos that would make any lady swoon. My friends were all "Emma, darling, you need to see this!" The excitement was almost unbearable, let me tell you!

Now, I know you guys love to hear about what I wear when I'm touring, and let me tell you, this time I decided to keep things simple yet impactful. A gorgeous vintage A-line floral midi-skirt (that almost matched the flowers on the tutu!), paired with my trusty blush-pink turtleneck, and a bright white cardigan for those nippy subway rides. And of course, no trip is complete without my trusty ballet bag filled with the essentials – makeup, travel snacks, and of course, a good book (because I am totally a bookworm).

Subway Adventures & Ballet Bliss

Getting around in NYC is an experience, and nothing beats riding the iconic yellow metro. Even though the crowds are insane, and sometimes the underground temperature is stifling, it's always fun to rub shoulders with New Yorkers and soak in the bustling city vibes!

But, I confess, the subway also has its dangers - let me tell you! Imagine this - I was rushing to get to my dance class before it started, a gorgeous pink tulle tutu in tow (it was a masterpiece!), when my heart skipped a beat – a huge wave of sweaty humans descended upon me, all looking equally dazed and confused, just like I was. 😲 It was absolute carnage, a near-tutu-ripping-off situation! But never fear, my lovelies - with a quick hop, skip, and a well-timed turn, I navigated the crowd like a graceful dancer and even got a compliment on my shoes! That's New York, folks, right there - hustle, bustle, but also a love for all things pretty! 😉

Oh, did I mention my ballet class? The highlight of the week, of course! After battling my way through the bustling city, I ended up at this incredibly beautiful, intimate studio in the heart of the Lower East Side. It was packed with amazing dancers of all ages, each with their own unique style and stories to tell. We danced like nobody was watching – it was pure joy, passion, and a bit of sweat too, but it was heavenly.

And speaking of heavenly, oh my goodness, the ballet at the Lincoln Center was absolutely breathtaking! I'd never seen such exquisite storytelling, such power, grace, and passion on stage. I nearly cried with joy at one point (yes, my cheeks were shiny, I don’t care!).

Tip: If you're in New York City, check out the Lincoln Center calendar. It's a wonderful cultural experience that really lives up to the city’s glamorous reputation. It's all part of what makes the Big Apple such an enchanting place to be, a city that just seems to pull you in with its energy and wonder.

Fashion Finds & NYC Eats:

But a girl needs sustenance after all that ballet! I love grabbing a quick bite in between shows - nothing beats a delicious pastry from a little café on 5th Avenue, and trust me, this pastry had a gorgeous pink glaze, of course! 🧁 The icing on the cake, so to speak, was a charming cafe with delicious cakes, perfect for satisfying that sugar craving.

My last day was spent indulging in some retail therapy – New York City never lets you down. Of course, my aim was to hunt down a fabulous pink handbag to perfectly complement my fabulous collection of tutus. I swear, I have a thing for a great bag - there’s just something magical about a stylish clutch or a trendy tote bag to brighten your day!

After hours of scouring designer shops and browsing vintage boutiques, I finally struck gold! A delicate pink satchel adorned with crystal accents, made from beautiful soft leather, a timeless piece that would surely enhance any look. I'll definitely be wearing it to my next ballet performance – gotta make sure it's perfect! 👛

Saying Farewell to New York City (for Now):

As always, leaving New York is bittersweet. It’s a city that always feels like it has so much to offer, like a neverending box of treats! I had such a magical time in the city this week, taking in everything from the cultural buzz to the glamorous fashion to the inspiring art scenes. And oh, those incredible ballets – I'm still dreaming about them!

New York is truly a place that you need to experience to understand - a vibrant city filled with incredible opportunities.

Until next time, New York! I’ll be back! 💖

*Oh, and one more thing… * don’t forget: spread the love for pink tutus! You never know, the next time I’m in NYC, you could be a pink-tutu-clad superstar on the streets. 😉

Now, I'm heading back to Derbyshire, England to rehearse for my next performance - the local ballet production, of course. And maybe I’ll bring back a few ideas from my NYC trip to make the show extra spectacular. Stay tuned, my loves!

Love, Emma,
