Hey everyone! 👋 It's Emma here, and it's Monday, the day you all know and love, because it's Pink Tutu Blog day! 💖✨ This week, I'm whisking you off to the Big Apple, NYC itself! I'm so excited to be sharing my adventures with you all!
It's a Monday morning in the city that never sleeps and you know what that means? Time to hit the streets of New York! ✨
But before I get into all the fashion, food, and fun, I have to confess something… I’m starting to think pink tutus are like a magical portal to other realms! 💖🌟 I know, I know, it sounds crazy. But just last week, I was in Derbyshire, England, practicing my pirouettes in my studio, and the next thing I knew, I was surrounded by the glittering skyscrapers of Manhattan! 🌆
Turns out, all it takes is a little twirl, a big dream, and a dash of pink tutu magic, and you can find yourself dancing in the heart of New York City. Who knew? 🤔
Now, this time around, I'm not just dancing for my local Derbyshire theatre group. No, this trip is all about New York! The vibrant Broadway shows, the buzzing atmosphere, the fashion, oh the fashion! 💃 It's a dream come true, and let's be honest, I've been counting down the days since I bought those sparkly pointe shoes last week!
A Week In New York City - Pink Tutu Style!
Okay, so first things first: My pink tutu packed itself. Like, it actually, truly packed itself. You know, just one of those magical things that happen when you're living life in your pink tutu. 💖 Honestly, you'd think I had an invisible ballerina doing all my packing for me! 😂 So, a whirlwind week in the Big Apple, and I'm determined to make it count! Here's what's on the itinerary:
Monday - The Big Apple Debut! 🍎🗽
Well, we are on Monday now! So the big apple debut is happening! Today's the day for a little sightseeing - I'm talking Central Park, Times Square, that sort of thing. Of course, a Pink Tutu-inspired New York look is an absolute must! Imagine, strolling through the city with its bustling streets, my pink tutu catching the rays of the late morning sunshine! It's just the kind of statement I love to make. 😉💖
Speaking of pink, I've also got my eye on this fabulous little vintage store in SoHo! The owner's a fellow tutu lover, so I’m pretty sure there’ll be some serious shopping adventures to be had! 👛💰
Tuesday - Broadway Bound! ✨🎭
Broadway, the glittering mecca of musical theatre! My friend Sarah’s dad managed to snag tickets to “Moulin Rouge!” And you bet your bottom dollar I'll be wearing the perfect tutu for this occasion. This ain't your average ballet tutu. Think feathers, sparkle, and enough sequins to blind a diamond dealer! ✨
Of course, a pre-show dinner is a must, especially since my favourite place for decadent french pastries is just around the corner from the theatre. If my ballerina instincts serve me right, that must mean divine Parisian inspiration! 🤔 And after the show, a little Broadway-themed, pink-hued manicure, anyone? 💖
Wednesday - A City Ballet Stroll! 💃
If I'm in New York City, it’s criminal not to experience the world-famous New York City Ballet! You bet I’ll be catching a show! It’s going to be such an experience, seeing the best ballet dancers in the world right before my eyes. The elegance, the grace, the stories told without a single word! 💖
I'll definitely be taking full advantage of the chance to study their technique. Maybe, just maybe, it'll inspire my own pirouette to go from good to fantastic. Speaking of fantastic, have you seen their costumes? Absolutely stunning. And as usual, my inspiration is blooming - this whole ballet trip has me dreaming up my own design. Stay tuned, there may just be a special edition, limited run pink tutu in the works! 😉
Thursday - Subway Sojourn & Shopping Spree! 🚇🛍️
Nothing beats a good old subway adventure! Today, it’s off to the Lower East Side - my absolute favourite district for a spot of vintage shopping and discovering all sorts of hidden treasures. I’m thinking a perfect pair of vintage heels, just to add that extra bit of sass to my tutu and maybe a quirky retro-inspired cardigan. There’s no telling what might spark my inspiration! 😉
I’ll also be popping by my favourite donut shop (yes, New York has donut shops with pink tutu vibes too!), because a good doughnut with sprinkles is an essential part of any tutu-themed adventure!
Friday - Backstage Ballet Beauty! 👠🎭
As much as I love to twirl on stage, my true passion lies in the art of ballet itself! Today, it's time for a visit to the ballet studio and a real glimpse into the heart and soul of this art form. I'm hoping to maybe snag a few behind-the-scenes photos - all those costumes! 🤩
Later on, a well-deserved trip to the Met Gala after-party. 😉 Now I’ll need to find an outfit! What else could it be besides a pink tutu, right?! 🤔 And you can’t possibly have an after-party without a killer handbag - and don't get me started on those New York city shoes! Fashionistas take note: I'll be sharing all the deets on my Instagram so keep your eyes peeled! ✨
Saturday - Central Park Ballet Brunch! 🧺💖
Nothing beats a lovely sunny afternoon in Central Park! Especially with a scrumptious picnic lunch - croissants, sparkling cider, maybe even a few delicate sandwiches. I've found this amazing spot near the Strawberry Fields memorial, it's perfect for a leisurely brunch before hitting the streets again.
Sunday - Showtime in Times Square! 🎇
Another show? Well, you just can't come to New York City and not enjoy a classic Broadway show, especially when it involves dazzling lights and even more dazzling dance routines. I can already picture it: the electrifying atmosphere, the sound of the music, and of course, a pink tutu so magnificent it would make a ballerina's heart flutter! 💫
Then, it's off to The Museum of Modern Art to get a bit of culture. The museums in New York always spark new ideas for outfits, especially the modern art scene! ✨
Pink Tutu and the Magic of the Big Apple 🗽
Being in New York has been such a dream. I've seen so many things, felt so much energy and excitement. And you know what I've realised? This city has so many connections with pink tutus!

A tutu-wearing subway dancer! Yes, I spotted this fabulous woman with a pink tutu in her ballet shoes and leotard. The whole station suddenly felt like a magical stage, her movement an intricate dance, and every passenger, her cheering audience! 🚇💖
Pink tutu street performers in Times Square! Okay, they're not actual dancers in pink tutus but they are wearing these elaborate feather costumes, glittering headpieces, and makeup. Honestly, it's a fashion wonderland - with that classic Times Square glitter factor thrown in. I thought I'd stepped into a whimsical dreamland! ✨🤩
The tutu of a thousand lights! ✨ Well, okay, it's actually the glittering lights that cascade over Times Square, but that whole sight instantly felt like my ultimate pink tutu - the kind that dances with the city and its electric lights, never getting tired of a good show! 💖
