Good morning, my darlings! ☀️ It’s Monday and the sunshine is streaming in, turning my little studio flat in the East Village a lovely shade of pink! It’s a truly glorious start to the week, and for me, that means only one thing… New York City awaits! 💖
You know how much I love my weekly visits to this city. It’s always bustling with energy, overflowing with creative inspiration and sprinkled with just the right amount of glitz and glamour – just my style, really! 😉
This week, I’m in New York for a very special occasion. I'm here for the world premiere of a brand new ballet! I’m so excited to see what the choreographers have in store for us. There's something magical about seeing a performance that’s brand new – you're there as it happens, a part of history! I mean, who knows, maybe it will be the next Swan Lake or The Nutcracker! I know, I know, I might be a little optimistic. 😜
But anyway, you know how much I love theatre – and how much I adore ballet, especially in the dazzling lights of Broadway. Just talking about it is getting my pink tutu itching to twirl! 💃
Today I plan to visit all the most gorgeous ballet shops in Manhattan. I'm after a brand new pink tutu! You see, a ballerina can never have too many tutus, right? (Don’t tell my bank manager – I'm sure he has a few ideas about that.) My last performance, I had to wear my trusty old pale pink number, and well… it needs a rest, don't you think? The fabric was a little faded around the edges and, dare I say it, my dear tutu might be a tad bit too old for some of the bolder choreography that’s been cropping up. We all need a little sprucing up every now and then, right?
This week’s performance will require a much bolder statement – a statement of confidence and charisma, a splash of pink in the middle of all the city's grey. A colour so beautiful, it deserves to be seen! And of course, I'll share all my adventures with you later, including all my glamorous outfits – with a special focus on the tutu of course!
Speaking of bold statements, I couldn't possibly travel through New York City without taking full advantage of its legendary, fast-paced metro system. Honestly, what could be more magical than riding through the tunnels of this bustling city on the subway? Every ride feels like a new adventure. And while I know my fellow subway commuters probably wish I’d stop twirling, who can resist a burst of colour in the middle of all that grey? 😜 A girl's gotta twirl, right?
But it's not all tutus and travel – after all, New York is not only a fabulous ballet centre but also a fashion capital. I’ve planned an entire afternoon exploring the high streets, visiting some of my favourite fashion haunts. It’s no surprise I adore New York’s chic boutiques; the shops here seem to magically understand the desires of a girl who dreams of pirouette-worthy fashion, which is truly amazing. 😊
Plus, I'm also going to do some window shopping in SoHo – just for fun! Who knows, I might find some divine pink pieces that are worthy of my Pink Tutu Blog! And it might even inspire me to pick up some lovely vintage treasures – a girl can never have enough of a touch of old world glamour in her wardrobe, don't you think?
After a full day of exploration and inspiration, I’m taking a little breather in Central Park. It’s one of my favourite places to get my ballerina glow on. A perfect chance for a little afternoon stroll and a bit of yoga in the heart of the city – who could ask for a more lovely day? Perhaps even a cheeky dance, hidden under a canopy of golden leaves – the city really does make you feel so alive, don't you think? 💖
There's nothing quite like watching the sunset over the cityscape, a true moment of pure, perfect peacefulness. It's hard to describe, but somehow, every visit here seems to fuel my desire to keep inspiring other women to embrace their own inner ballerina – no matter their age, shape, size, or… tutu style. 😉
