Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post #1144 – New York, New York, I'm in Love!

Hello, darlings! It's Emma here, your resident pink tutu-wearing ballerina, ready to whisk you away to the dazzling metropolis that is New York City!

This week, I've finally landed in the Big Apple! It feels utterly magical – the bustling streets, the iconic yellow cabs, the towering skyscrapers… and of course, the endless supply of pink tutus to be found (or at least I’m hopeful!).

I've been absolutely bursting with excitement about this trip, you have no idea! It’s been a dream of mine since forever, to twirl my way around this city that’s practically bursting with creativity, fashion, and artistry – my ultimate trifecta! And what better way to get there than by funding my adventure with the art form I love, ballet? I’m performing this month at a glorious new ballet studio tucked away in the Upper East Side. I have the honour of being part of their Spring Ballet Extravaganza, where we'll be showing off a brand new interpretation of 'Swan Lake'. My heart beats with every arabesque, and I truly hope it sets a lovely mood for my New York adventures.

Now, back to the City that Never Sleeps. You've probably already gathered I'm an absolute fan of exploring cities on the underground. Let's just say that the New York Metro is an experience unlike anything I've encountered! Not just for the architecture and general hustle and bustle – although the tunnels themselves are seriously impressive! I mean, I did try on a fabulous pink tulle skirt on my very first Metro journey, right here on platform number two. What can I say? Sometimes you just have to channel your inner ballerina wherever you are, right?

Speaking of pink, I simply HAVE to mention this divine shop I found on Fifth Avenue! Let me tell you, darling, it’s like walking into a fairytale with every shade of pink imaginable – we’re talking pink lace, pink velvet, pink silk, pink everything! The dreamiest clothes and shoes for a ballerina, I kid you not. I am positively planning to revisit this absolute paradise at least three times before my departure! I might have snagged a few, oh just a few, stunning pink accessories and some truly breathtaking silk ballet slippers that are almost too gorgeous to wear. Maybe I’ll get a photograph for the blog. You have to admit that they're absolutely worthy of a prime spot on my Instagram.

I also managed to see the most magnificent ballet show at the New York City Ballet. Oh, the dancers were like soaring swans, the costumes were divine and oh, the story. Just absolutely breathtaking, I sat there practically speechless for the entire performance. Of course, I have to indulge my love for the theatre too, so on Thursday I caught the absolutely captivating musical, ‘Chicago’, in all its glitz and glamour, a treat for both my eyes and ears.

But wait, there’s more! I even had the privilege of seeing a show on the beautiful street outside Lincoln Center, right on Broadway! The energy was positively infectious, and of course, my tutu came in handy! I took my pink tulle friend everywhere this week, including a picnic in Central Park (just divine!), a visit to the Statue of Liberty, and even a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art! Honestly, darling, it feels so special to feel my pink tulle skirt swishing alongside me in this city of dreams!

Life here is simply a whirlwind, in the best possible way, of course! I can already feel myself blossoming, like a rosebud coming into bloom under the glorious New York sunshine. This city has an energy that makes me feel I can literally dance on air! My Derbyshire roots will forever be a part of me, but my heart is undoubtedly filled with joy and the desire to return to this magic city!

So until next week, darlings! Don’t forget to wear pink! Let’s make this a world of pink tutus, and most importantly, let's keep dancing!
