Hello lovelies! It's Monday, and that means it's time for a brand new post on Pink Tutu Blog NYC! I'm buzzing to be back in the Big Apple for the week. The city that never sleeps - I should say never sways, because dancing is pretty much all I'm doing right now. Oh, and shopping. Lots and lots of shopping! It's my favourite thing to do, you know. 😉
I must confess, New York has really stolen a piece of my heart. There's something about the energy here, the never-ending pulse of the city, that gets my blood pumping. It's got to be the dancing - the shows, the classes, the street performers, the sheer diversity of it all! And did I mention the clothes? Just when I think I've seen it all, I discover another fabulous boutique or a vintage store teeming with treasures!
Let's talk tutu, shall we?
Of course I'm wearing my favourite pink tutu throughout this week - you know how much I love a twirl, and a little bit of extra sparkle makes this city sparkle even more. 💃 I've packed all my best pink-tastic outfits, from my whimsical floral frocks to my sleek evening gowns. It's all about showcasing that girly charm and unleashing my inner ballerina, both on and off the stage. And who knows, maybe this week will be the week when everyone finally succumbs to the joy of wearing a pink tutu - even if it's just a tiny, sparkly bow on a shoe! 🎀
Here's the lowdown on what's happening in this whirlwind week in the City:
- Tonight is opening night at the Metropolitan Opera for "La Traviata". Can't wait to hear those glorious melodies in the most beautiful venue!
- Tomorrow I'm catching a matinee at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Their contemporary ballet always leaves me feeling energised and inspired!
- Wednesday is all about shopping therapy - Broadway is calling my name, along with the legendary vintage stores in Greenwich Village!
- Thursday will be a whirlwind of back-to-back ballet classes. From contemporary at Broadway Dance Center to pointe work at the School of American Ballet, I'll be dancing my way across Manhattan!
- Friday is a night to be enjoyed with friends - dinner in the West Village, then maybe some jazz in a cozy little speakeasy, with maybe a spot of late-night ballet under the stars... dreamy sigh
- Saturday will be spent exploring the vibrant cultural hub of the Lower East Side - the street performers always amaze me with their incredible artistry, especially those with a little bit of dance in their repertoire.
- Sunday, as a true ballerina's day should be, will start with a luxurious brunch at one of the beautiful tea rooms, followed by an afternoon stroll through Central Park and perhaps even a ballet picnic in the sun. Oh, and it wouldn't be a true Sunday without a little souvenir shopping! 🛍️
Getting Around
The Metro is my chariot this week, a magic carpet taking me across the city. There's nothing quite like the rhythm of the trains and the cacophony of voices echoing through the tunnels. You feel like you're right in the heart of the city, pulsing with energy and life. And when you see a beautiful ballerina with a pink tutu whizzing by on the subway, you know that I'm just going about my day! 😉
Following My Pink-Tinted Path
From the moment I arrive in New York, I’m in awe of everything, even the seemingly ordinary becomes extraordinary. It’s not just the iconic skyscrapers or Broadway’s dazzling lights that grab my attention; it’s the feeling that I can be whoever I want to be here.
