Hello, darling!
Welcome back to Pink Tutu Blog, coming to you live from the vibrant heart of New York City! It's Monday, October 2nd, 2017, and this week's blog post is bursting with excitement! This is my very first trip to the Big Apple and I'm absolutely besotted. From the moment I stepped off the plane and inhaled the delicious aroma of street food and hotdogs (yes, I do have my limits even when it comes to tutus!), I knew this city would steal my heart. And, of course, I'm wearing my most fabulous pink tutu to celebrate - what else would I wear?
Travelling in Style
I've always loved travelling by metro. There's something thrilling about zipping beneath the bustling city, observing life through the grimy windows, and just generally absorbing the atmosphere. This city's metro system is a complete labyrinth but, with my handy map and my even handier trusty Pink Tutu Bag (which doubles as a shopping tote, a ballet bag, and a chic picnic basket!), I'm navigating with ease.
My journey started at LaGuardia Airport, which isn't the most glamorous of entrances, I'll admit, but I managed to find my way to the subway without incident. Now, if you ask me, a pink tutu is the perfect travel companion. Not only does it add a touch of whimsy and joy, but it's also surprisingly practical! The layers of tulle act as a mini-cushion on the hard plastic seats, and I can tuck my ballet shoes into the soft folds (they always seem to get lost in my suitcase otherwise).
Oh! Broadway's Bright Lights
As a devoted fan of all things theatrical, Broadway was an absolute must on my itinerary. This week I finally had the chance to experience this legendary theatre district first hand. Just walking down the street is an exhilarating sensory overload - from the iconic neon signs and the bustling crowds to the buzz of excited chatter and the alluring promise of entertainment within every venue.
I snagged a prime seat to the iconic Hamilton show. My cheeks hurt from laughing and my heart was pounding with adrenaline after that whirlwind of history, music, and passion. This show deserves all the accolades, and I highly recommend it! It left me pondering on the story of America, and it made me feel incredibly proud to be part of the human story – in my own little pink-tutu-wearing way!
Ballet: The Heart of New York
It's no secret that I'm absolutely besotted with ballet. There's something deeply satisfying about the combination of elegant grace, demanding athleticism, and emotive storytelling that the art form delivers. New York City has a truly remarkable ballet scene. I spent a glorious afternoon at the American Ballet Theatre, marveling at their masterful dancers in a production of Giselle. It was an absolutely beautiful experience. Watching these skilled dancers move with such effortless grace was pure magic!
Fashion Inspiration:
My adventures in the Big Apple are never complete without indulging in my passion for all things fashion! From the designer boutiques on Fifth Avenue to the vibrant independent stores scattered throughout the city, this place is a sartorial paradise. I've already discovered a few fantastic vintage shops, where I'm sure I'll find some truly unique treasures to add to my pink-tutu wardrobe! I was also fortunate enough to grab a backstage tour of a Broadway show with one of the fabulous seamstresses. My pink-tutu senses tingled as we explored the bustling backrooms and got to glimpse the craftsmanship that goes into these incredible shows. This trip has ignited a whole new level of design inspiration for my next creation!
