Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post #1174 - Monday, 4th December 2017: Dancing Through the Big Apple!

Hello my darlings!

It's Emma here, back from another whirlwind week in the fabulous city that never sleeps, New York! This week has been particularly magical, filled with dazzling ballet, exciting fashion finds, and a sprinkle of festive cheer. Let me tell you all about it!

Firstly, my travels. As always, I relied on my trusty Metro card for zipping around town. It's amazing how efficiently this city runs, especially with the vibrant energy of New York's diverse population weaving its way through the carriages. And let's face it, what's better than a scenic journey on the Metro in your favourite pink tutu? Nothing, that's what!

I am thrilled to share that I saw the most exquisite ballet performance this weekend. The New York City Ballet was performing The Nutcracker, a Christmas classic! You see, being a ballerina from Derbyshire, it's in my blood to love The Nutcracker. Seeing it danced in such an iconic venue was just breath-taking. The dancers were ethereal, gliding across the stage like fairies on a moonlit night. It had me dreaming of dancing amongst snowflakes and magical Christmas treats!

Afterward, I indulged in a bit of pre-Christmas shopping. I simply cannot resist the charm of Fifth Avenue. The dazzling windows of Tiffany's, the alluring perfumes from Chanel, the sheer opulence... It all adds up to an absolutely delightful afternoon of browsing. Of course, I came home with some new gems for my wardrobe, but more on that later!

The following day, I found myself captivated by the sheer artistic brilliance of the Museum of Modern Art, better known as MoMA. They had a fantastic exhibit dedicated to contemporary dance, featuring incredible multimedia works from around the globe. It made me realise the endless possibilities and interpretations that dance can embrace! A very inspirational day indeed!

One of my favourite things about visiting New York is its buzzing food scene. From tiny bakeries to fancy rooftop restaurants, there's something to suit every palate. This time, I tried an absolute gem of a café in Greenwich Village - The Spotted Pig. It's a classic British-inspired eatery with cosy charm, a wonderful atmosphere, and some scrumptious dishes. You could say it had a bit of Derbyshire in it!

Oh, and speaking of treats, I discovered this delightful cupcake shop in the heart of Midtown called Buttercup Bake Shop. The cupcakes are adorned with beautiful pastel colours and delightful little touches, just like a whimsical pink tutu. I tried the "Tutulicious" cupcake – a dreamy combination of vanilla cake, strawberry buttercream, and delicate pink sprinkles. Pure indulgence!

As I mentioned before, New York really is the city that never sleeps, so when it comes to evening entertainment, there is an endless array of choice. This week I saw a stunning musical called "Moulin Rouge", based on the famous Parisian cabaret. The sets were so grand, the costumes spectacular, and the singing simply magical. You know I simply adore theatre, and this performance truly transported me to the Belle Époque era of French glamour.

After such a packed weekend, a bit of pampering was just the thing! So, I made my way to a cute little nail salon in the East Village, The Polished Parlour. It's the kind of place where you get that extra TLC while you relax and sip tea. Of course, my nails had to be painted pink – after all, everything in my life is inspired by my love for tutus and the beautiful colour pink!

With that, I had to wrap up this week's blog post. New York, you have truly charmed my socks off once again! I can't wait to see what adventures await me in the coming weeks, and trust me, you won't want to miss a moment!

Don't forget to follow me on my Instagram, @PinkTutuEmma, for all the latest snapshots of my fabulous adventures.

Until next time, darling, stay stylish, and always wear pink!
