Hello my gorgeous little ballerinas! Itās Emma here, back from another fabulous week in the Big Apple. How are you all doing this fine Monday? February in New York is simply glorious. Even though there's a hint of chill in the air, the city's energy is always crackling. You just can't help but get swept up in the vibrancy!
This week's adventures, you ask? Well, Iām ready to fill you in with every dazzling detail. From twirling on stage, exploring new boutiques, to conquering the metro and discovering hidden gems - get ready for a pink-tastic journey, darlings!
A Symphony of Twirls:
I started the week with a bang, literally! I performed in a charity ballet gala at the beautiful Lincoln Center. Oh, the magic! The whole experience was absolutely exhilarating, with the hushed silence before the curtain went up, the spotlight hitting the stage, and the feeling of exhilaration when the audience erupted in applause.
Speaking of performances, this Saturday you absolutely have to see "The Nutcracker" at the New York City Ballet. It's one of the most spectacular Christmas-themed productions you'll ever witness. The story, the choreography, the costumesā¦it's sheer magic! Oh, and be sure to check out the New York City Balletās website - theyāre celebrating their 70th anniversary this year! And talking about New Yorkās ballet scene, there's also the wonderful "Sleeping Beauty" ballet on right now at the Metropolitan Opera, just another must-see, darlings!
Pinktastic Adventures:
Who says you need a reason to dress in pink? Every day is a pink-filled celebration! This week, I embarked on a pink spree in SoHo, a haven for fabulous vintage boutiques. There, amidst the bohemian vibes, I stumbled upon the most beautiful pink silk scarf, a true vintage treasure, thatās just going to be perfect with my latest ballet tutu! Of course, you already know my favourite New York City boutiquesā¦Iām completely smitten with Bloomingdaleās - its Fifth Avenue location is positively magical! It has everything you can imagine, with a stunning selection of designer clothing, handbags, and accessories, oh my!
And when youāre wandering through the city donāt forget to pop into Bergdorf Goodman, the luxury department store on Fifth Avenue! I just love how grand it is, it really transports you back to a golden era, especially with the gorgeous vintage pieces they have!
And let's not forget the city's incredible museums. I love spending time in The Metropolitan Museum of Art (or āThe Metā as we all call it, just a stoneās throw from Central Park.) and just marveling at the artistic masterpieces - itās a must-see for any art lover, no matter what you love. You can easily lose a day or two exploring this treasure trove of artistic gems! And donāt forget about the stunning architecture!
From Subway Station to Sparkling Streets:
Navigating the NYC subway is an adventure in itself. I feel so cool, with my little pink ballet bag in tow, just hopping onto the train, dodging fellow commuters, and weaving my way through the crowds, always with a smile, of course! It's part of the NYC experience!
Itās really fun seeing the city transform every evening with all the twinkling lights of Times Square. I absolutely love going for walks along Fifth Avenue - just soaking up the glamorous vibes, seeing all the impressive shop windows, and people watching!
I particularly enjoyed exploring the Lower East Side. This cool, hip part of Manhattan really reflects the cityās cultural diversity with vintage clothing shops, independent bookstores, quirky art galleries, and street art that screams NYC!
Keeping it Pink & Keeping it Real:
So much about NYC is incredibly glam. You just canāt help but feel excited to be here. It is undeniably glamorous and the centre of fashion - a dreamland for a ballerina obsessed with tutus, fashion and beautiful ballet! I have to admit that New York can feel overwhelming sometimes. But Iām from Derbyshire, and you know, we Derbyshire girls are pretty tough and resilient! I donāt mind the fast pace of the city; you get into a rhythm with the ebb and flow of it all.
And even amidst all the glitter, New York is a melting pot of culture and passion. The street performances are absolutely inspiring - whether itās a captivating band jamming on a street corner, a fiery salsa dance troupe, or a soulful singer serenading the passersby - the raw energy is so infectious, and you really can feel the pulse of the city!
This city really inspires me. From seeing world-class dancers perform to getting inspired by new trends - the energy here is just magical. It definitely reminds me of all the exciting projects Iāve got brewing. You canāt help but feel inspired! The cityās just got a spirit all its own, and if you embrace the energy here, youāre really able to follow your dreams. Oh, I almost forgot - a few weeks ago I went to the gorgeous Metropolitan Museum of Art (also known as the MET.) I had a great time there!
Pink Tutu Dreams, Big City Adventures:
Thereās so much to love in New York. From its buzzing energy to the spectacular sights to the ever-so-fashionable boutiques, the Big Apple doesnāt disappoint. Whether Iām taking a ballet class or twirling onstage, I always make sure to wear my pink tutu - a constant reminder that life's a dance, and we all should just let loose and twirl! My favourite pink tutus always travel with me, just in case there's a perfect photo opportunity, or just for the fun of it! Iām a big believer in spreading a little pink joy and magic wherever I go!
