It's Emma here, your favourite tutu-wearing traveller, and guess what? I'm back in the Big Apple! Yep, you read that right, NYC is calling and my pink tutu is answering.
As I sit here in my chic hotel room overlooking the glittering skyline (the views are almost as stunning as my new pair of pink stilettos!), I can't help but feel a surge of excitement bubbling inside. It's a feeling I get every time I set foot in this city. It's like magic, a vibrant whirlwind of energy and creativity, and it feels incredible to be back amongst the concrete jungle's frenetic hum.
But first, let's rewind a little, shall we?
My journey back to NYC began in my beloved Derbyshire. Oh, how I miss those rolling green hills and quaint village shops! It was tough leaving, but I had a stellar weekend of ballet performances that filled my heart with joy (and my piggy bank with just enough for a fab trip!).
A Trip Filled with Twirls and Tutus
I'm on a mission this week, dear readers! A mission to find the most beautiful pink tutu New York City has to offer. I know, it's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it, right? My mission's second phase, of course, is to make every single person I meet in this bustling city twirl in a pink tutu! Because, let's be honest, life's too short for boring clothes!
My whirlwind week kicks off with a much-anticipated performance of Swan Lake at the Metropolitan Opera House. The opulent setting is almost as dazzling as the ballet itself, and the intricate costumes (some even sporting a shade of pink I'd never seen before!), are a ballet fanatic's dream. After the show, I plan on hitting Fifth Avenue for a little fashion exploration. I hear a new boutique specialising in tutu-inspired pieces just opened up – fingers crossed they have a pink one that suits me!
Speaking of twirls, I wouldn't dream of visiting NYC without a spot of ballet class. The legendary Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater has a stunning studio downtown, and they have a beginner's class starting soon. I can't wait to join fellow dance enthusiasts in the heart of New York and, who knows, maybe even spot a future ballerina-in-the-making!
City Living, New York Style
My usual London haunts feel familiar, but there's just something different about this city that feels uniquely intoxicating. This week, I'll be hopping on the metro to explore new districts, getting lost in the eclectic neighbourhoods and enjoying all the incredible street performers who grace this city with their artistry. Did I mention that I saw a truly awe-inspiring street ballerina yesterday? Her twirls and jumps were straight out of a fairytale!
Of course, no trip to New York is complete without experiencing its diverse food scene. From juicy slices of pizza to gourmet delights in stylish restaurants, I plan on indulging my foodie spirit, keeping in mind those delectable pastries and coffee that are just a hop away. I have a special love for pink-themed food, from pink macarons to cotton candy clouds in my bubble tea! So stay tuned for delicious photo-worthy moments on Instagram!
Embracing the Unexpected
One thing I love about NYC is the element of surprise. You never know what exciting discovery awaits around every corner. It might be a charming independent bookshop hidden in a bustling street, a hidden jazz club with electrifying live music, or even a breathtakingly beautiful street mural celebrating the spirit of the city. The unexpected makes each journey unique, and it's what I love most about being a pink tutu explorer!
