#PinkTutuBlogNYC - Monday 2019-06-24 - She Danced in New York City! 🩰

Hello darlings! It’s Monday again, and that means a new blog post from your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina! 💖

This week's post is number 1255 for my #PinkTutuBlogNYC series. Every week, I'll share my New York adventures on the fabulous www.pink-tutu.com website, where you can follow me and find more inspiring pink tutus to wear everywhere you go! 🩰

Let’s get into this week's blog post - it's another incredible chapter in my life as a tutu-clad explorer of the Big Apple! I've been living in New York City for almost two years now, and I'm still discovering new delights, vibrant performances, and beautiful pink fashions. My time in New York is a dream come true, and this week was especially magical.

Let me tell you about the delightful highlights!

Taking the Subway - And Finding a Pink Dress to Dream In

The journey starts, as it often does, on the New York City subway. You never know who you're going to meet or see on a New York subway carriage! This week, I found myself surrounded by fascinating faces. A businessman with a polka dot bowtie. A grandma carrying a rainbow of brightly coloured carrier bags. A boy with a pet turtle tucked inside his jacket. 🐢

You know, the city truly is a melting pot of everything and everyone, and the subway is its vibrant, pulse-pounding heart! And, of course, I couldn't let the moment pass without slipping into the ultimate pink outfit. A pale blush tulle skirt - imagine a soft rose petal that you can twirl in! - and a delicate pearl necklace to top it all off.

I just can’t help but love New York’s underground, with its beautiful vintage tiles, roaring train noises and its chaotic, exhilarating energy! Just getting around, even if it means dodging crowds, always sparks inspiration for a new tutu-tastic outfit. 😉

Catching a Broadway Show: “A Chorus Line” - Pure Broadway Magic 💫

Okay, my lovely readers, get ready to step into the spotlight because my highlight of this week was the sheer magic of “A Chorus Line”! What an incredibly powerful, heartbreaking, and ultimately hopeful show about the struggles, dreams, and triumphs of dancers on Broadway!

The story - and the dancers themselves! - reminded me of all the times I’ve dreamt about performing on the world-famous Broadway stage. Imagine, if you will, thousands of glittering lights illuminating the dancers as they move in perfect synchronicity to the music. It’s just magical. ✨

One of the things I absolutely loved about “A Chorus Line” is that it gave me a peek into the hearts of the dancers - their motivations, fears, and unwavering passions. They gave their all on that stage, sharing their emotions through movement and song.

Of course, what's a pink tutu-clad blogger doing without some colour to match? My pink outfit for the evening was pure sparkle and shine: a fitted, sequin-studded, ballet-inspired top in a delicate pink and a fluffy, powder pink tulle skirt. I was ready to twirl my way into a magical Broadway night! 🩰

The show made me think about my own ballet journey, about the challenges, the endless hours of practice, and the unwavering pursuit of excellence. It reinforced that my journey is worth every step!

From Broadway to a Ballet Class - Always on the Move 💃

After all the dancing in "A Chorus Line," I just had to get myself to a proper ballet class, a New York ballet class that is! I don't know about you, but ballet keeps me grounded and centered. It’s like a quiet, powerful strength that comes from within.

I headed over to the renowned Steps on Broadway dance studio - a true landmark in the dance world! Stepping into the studio was a breath of fresh air - a hub of dancers of all ages, levels, and backgrounds coming together to embrace their shared passion for ballet. It's so inspiring to be around dancers of all shapes and sizes and ages, knowing that the passion and discipline they embody is all they need to express themselves through dance.

We practiced our pliés, our grand jetés, and even some impressive fouetté turns. The room echoed with the rhythm of music, and our steps became one graceful, rhythmic flow. 🩰

And guess what? I had a pink tutu for my class, of course. It was a stunning, multi-layered pink tutu that almost reached the floor, and I was feeling like a ballerina from a fairytale as I pirouetted across the studio. It was the perfect pink statement!

It was quite funny to watch my fellow ballet dancers try to contain their laughter as I, a fully fledged pink tutu-clad ballet dancer, took my place at the barre! But really, that’s the beauty of ballet, we are all learning, growing and developing. 🩰

Exploring the Met - A Breathtaking Escape to Art and Beauty 🖼️

One thing I've realized about living in New York is that there’s just always something going on, always a reason to be excited!

I started the day at the Met, which always makes my heart sing. For those who don’t know, it stands for the Metropolitan Museum of Art - it's just incredible! A breathtakingly huge museum overflowing with exquisite sculptures, paintings, fashion collections, and works of art from all around the world. It is so easy to get lost for hours there. Just try to resist getting lost in the beautiful tapestry tapestries - it’s simply not possible!

While I was there, I got a little sidetracked in the Egyptian wing, admiring intricate hieroglyphs. It's fascinating to learn about the art and architecture from that ancient civilisation! The intricacy of the detail is simply amazing. I actually felt transported back in time - just as I would feel transported in time to the ancient courts of ballets like 'Swan Lake'. 🩰

It was a very moving, very thought-provoking day!

My Evening in Chelsea Market - Food and Fashion 🍣 🛍️

Now for a quick foodie detour to Chelsea Market - one of my favourite food halls in New York! Imagine the delicious smells of roasted nuts, steaming bowls of ramen, freshly baked bread, and bubbling, colorful juices! I really couldn't choose a favourite - they were all divine! 🤤

But then it’s back to pink! It would be wrong of me not to mention that I found myself indulging in a little bit of pink fashion at one of the incredible vintage clothing stores there. A tweed pink jacket and a sequined skirt – absolute heaven for my pink wardrobe!

Chelsea Market is like an endless party - a buzzing, eclectic mix of tastes, textures, and, of course, the fabulous array of fashion delights! It truly has something for everyone - especially those with a flair for pink, a tutu obsession, and an insatiable craving for delicious food!

Ending the Day With Ballet and Grace 🌟

Okay, now I am at the end of my blog post, ready to embrace a new day in New York! I'm off to a performance of "Giselle" at the New York City Ballet. A show about love, loss, and betrayal – how very poignant! It's going to be spectacular and a wonderful way to wrap up another exciting week in New York.

This week, I was thinking about the journey – how far I've come, and all the wonderful memories I've made since arriving in New York. I think of my friends, my family back in Derbyshire, England, and my growing, supportive community here.

Each new day is an opportunity for something beautiful, for something amazing. I just have to stay true to my pink tutu, my passion, and to my dreams! 💖

Well, I have to rush now - time to find my pink tutu, a fabulous new pink clutch, and catch a quick bite of something pink before I get to the performance. I can't wait to share my thoughts with you in my next #PinkTutuBlogNYC post! 💖

Until next Monday, stay tuned, keep twirling, and remember to make every day pink, beautiful, and ballet-inspired. 🩰

Remember - You've got the power to make every day fabulous in a pink tutu, too! ✨

Lots of Love,

Emma 💕
