Pink Tutu Blog NYC - Post #1275: Spinning Through the City That Never Sleeps! π©°π
Hello, darling dears! Emma here, your pink tutu-clad guide to all things fabulous. It's Monday morning, and I'm practically bouncing off the walls with excitement because, guess what? This week, my adventures took me to the Big Apple, New York City, baby! π½π
This week's Pink Tutu Blog post is jam-packed with the most amazing adventures, starting with my absolute favourite way to travel - by metro! The rumble of the train, the cacophony of city noises, the hustle and bustle β it's exhilarating! You know I love a bit of pink, and New York didn't disappoint. There was pink everywhere - on the walls, in the shop windows, even the taxi cabs seemed to be winking at me in a rosy hue. π
Now, I can't forget my favourite activity: ballet, darling! Of course, being in New York meant a visit to the iconic New York City Ballet, and let me tell you, their performance of "The Nutcracker" was absolutely magical. The sheer artistry of the dancers, the gorgeous costumes, the dazzling sets, it was like stepping into a fairytale. And for me, there was an extra layer of excitement as a Derbyshire girl, as the Royal Ballet was touring New York, giving me double the dose of ballet brilliance! I actually got to chat to one of the dancers after the performance, she even said my tutu was "magnificent!" swoon
My NYC Tutu Diary
- Fashion Finds: Oh my, the shopping! Bloomingdale's, Saks Fifth Avenue, even the smaller independent boutiques - the selection was mind-blowing! I've been trying to be good (no easy feat in a city like this!), but I managed to score a new tutu skirt, just slightly pinker than my usual ones (I love a good colour challenge!), plus a pair of seriously fabulous silver shoes to go with it. π β¨
- Ballet Inspiration: After the show, I had the opportunity to pop in for a quick chat with David Hallberg, Principal Dancer at American Ballet Theatre! What an inspiring chap! He spoke about the importance of dedication, passion, and embracing one's artistic journey - definitely gave me some much-needed pep talk to keep pushing my boundaries.
- Cultural Delights: We popped into the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art), where we soaked up some contemporary art that left me pondering long after we left. My brain is definitely not a museum but rather an exciting art gallery! πΌοΈ
- City Lights and Skyscrapers: Evenings were magical, the cityscape lit up like a dazzling Christmas tree! We cruised the Empire State Building with its captivating night-time views. It felt like I was dancing on a cloud. βοΈπ
- Broadway Bound: The lure of Broadway is undeniable. Iβm a true theatre buff and Hamilton had me gripped. It was brilliantly fast-paced and entertaining. Just the type of energy and vibe you get in NYC. π
A Bit of a Reality Check: The Tutu Travels
Letβs face it, travelling with a tutu is a little unusual! Packing is an art in itself, I always pack it with care β think lots of bubble wrap and tissue paper. At times, it does raise a few eyebrows, particularly in the metro when itβs a bit crowded! But people are always fascinated and delighted, especially the little girls. Sometimes I wish I had time for ballet lessons whilst Iβm away β but perhaps Iβll bring a pair of my ballet shoes next time! π
Now, I donβt get to travel all this time on air fairy dust, so I earn a lot of my travelling by doing ballet performances. This week it was at the New York State Theater. I absolutely loved the energy of the audience and the city buzz around me. Ballet takes you to so many places β not just geographically but also emotionally. β¨
Iβll be back next Monday, with another adventure, to share on www.pink-tutu.com , and remember, you too can sparkle your days by wearing a pink tutu.
Have a fabulous week, my dears!
Yours in twirls, Emma
P.S. It's 11/11/2019, and that's something else we Brits love to notice! π
