Hello lovelies! 👋 It's Monday, January 13th, and I'm back in the Big Apple! I've been so excited to tell you all about my whirlwind weekend of twirling, shopping, and soaking up all things NYC. 🗽
A Ballerina's Dream
This trip was all about fulfilling a ballerina's dream: taking in the magic of the ballet at Lincoln Center! The New York City Ballet is known for its excellence, and this performance certainly lived up to its reputation. The choreography was captivating, the dancers were mesmerising, and the music had me floating on cloud nine! ☁️
It's something I’ll never forget, but it wasn't just the performance itself, but the atmosphere. The buzz in the air as the theatre filled up, the anticipation before the curtain rose, and the quiet whispers as the dancers gracefully flowed across the stage. Pure enchantment. ✨
And, of course, no trip to New York is complete without indulging in some top-notch ballet classes. The American Ballet Theatre Studio is renowned for its world-class training, and I had the absolute pleasure of experiencing a class there myself! 🩰 My muscles may have been screaming after a gruelling but exhilarating session, but oh, it was worth it. Just imagine, dancing among future superstars! 🌟
Fashion & Fun in Manhattan
Let's talk about fashion! Manhattan is a fashionista's playground, and this weekend, I got to experience it first hand! 👠 The shopping on Fifth Avenue was simply phenomenal. From high-end boutiques to independent stores, there was a treasure trove of style inspiration to be found. Of course, I couldn't resist picking up a few little treats for my wardrobe! 🤫 (My secret weapon? I always keep my eyes peeled for fab tutus!)
I have to tell you, there's a certain magic in trying on new clothes in New York! You just feel the pulse of the city through the fabrics, the style, the energy… and it’s oh-so inspiring! ✨
To get a taste of local life, we went for a stroll in Central Park, enjoying the crisp winter air. It's amazing to think how this incredible park is a haven of peace amidst the bustling city. It was truly enchanting! 🌲 We even found ourselves amongst a group of skateboarders, showing off some impressive tricks – I couldn't help but marvel at their athleticism! 🤩
And because no trip to New York is complete without seeing a Broadway show, we headed to the Belasco Theatre to experience Moulin Rouge! The Musical! The entire show was just a spectacle of colour and energy! 🎇 It felt like a whirlwind of costumes, dancing, and vibrant characters, a real treat for the senses!
The music, the dancing, the costumes! Oh, and did I mention the fabulous set designs?! The attention to detail, and sheer artistry involved, left me speechless. Honestly, this whole experience had me totally spellbound. ✨
From Derbyshire to New York - A Tutu-ful Journey!
For those who don’t know, I’m originally from Derbyshire, England. So, it's always a joy to venture out and experience a new part of the world! And being a city girl at heart, New York just has that ‘je ne sais quoi’ that has always called to me!
I've always found that travelling helps fuel my creative passion, which of course is essential when you're always trying to bring your own unique style to the world! I believe that everyone has the power to inspire others through fashion, and a pink tutu can really set you apart from the crowd! 😉💖
Now, back to my favourite city! NYC really does have a certain energy, that magic that never fades. The people, the places, the experiences… I never fail to feel invigorated after spending time here. It's a melting pot of cultures, creativity, and dreams - and I feel totally at home amongst it all. 🌎
Of course, as always, it wasn't just about sightseeing! 🤫 It's important for me to remember to look after myself on my travels. So I found the perfect yoga studio, a serene oasis nestled amidst the bustling city. A perfect place to relax, breathe, and re-energize! 🧘♀️
The city is also incredibly rich in art and culture! So we spent the day wandering through MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) and marvelling at the amazing masterpieces on display. 🤩 From classic sculptures to contemporary installations, the Museum had something for everyone!
And the best part? You could spot people enjoying themselves everywhere! This is a city that truly celebrates individuality and self-expression, and I always feel welcome to do my own thing here, be that twirling around in a pink tutu or indulging in a giant slice of New York cheesecake! 🍰 (Don't worry, I was very careful about not spilling on my tulle! 😉)

Find Your Own Ballet Mecca: Don't be afraid to go beyond the big names like ABT! The city is overflowing with smaller studios and local performance venues – it's where you often find the real gems! 💎
Dance with Confidence! If you see an open space and the music moves you, just dance! There are no rules, just pure joy and the expression of your love for ballet. It’s the ultimate way to celebrate the city's infectious energy! 🤩
