Hey my lovely Pink Tutu readers! It's Monday again, which means it's time for another NYC adventure! 🎉 I'm writing to you from the heart of Manhattan, my heart absolutely brimming with excitement, as it does every time I step foot in this incredible city! 🗽 As you all know, I'm obsessed with New York - the energy, the fashion, the food, and most importantly, the endless opportunities to see ballet! I can't believe it's been a whole year since I first arrived here and I'm already counting down the days till my next visit! But, until then, I'll just have to keep this pink tutu spinning as I discover all this vibrant city has to offer.
Today, I'm going to be telling you about all the exciting things I got up to last week. It's been jam-packed, but you know me, I'm all about the full experience, especially when it comes to my love affair with New York!
The Perfect Start: Broadway Magic!
Thursday saw me kicking off the week in style with a night at the theatre. It was an absolute must-do: the stunning revival of "Oklahoma!" I must say, it truly surpassed my wildest dreams! The production was utterly breathtaking, a magical combination of beautiful singing, captivating choreography, and a plot that whisked me away to the plains of Oklahoma! The dancing was divine; I was especially mesmerized by the lead ballerina's graceful pirouettes, they were absolutely magical.
As always, I chose my outfit carefully! I opted for a classic pink tutu - naturally! This one was a beautiful shade of blush pink, a lovely soft colour, just the perfect contrast to the more rustic Oklahoma setting. I added some sparkling jewellery, because why not?! ✨ You just have to be your most fabulous self when you're in a theatre, wouldn't you agree? The perfect combination for an evening of Broadway glamour! 👠
Subway Swirl: New York on the Move
I must confess, one of the most thrilling things about visiting New York is using the subway system. There's just something undeniably magical about it - a chaotic orchestra of clanging bells, rumbling trains, and the symphony of human chatter and laughter, I simply love it! The whole city just feels alive, especially under those glittering subway lights. ✨
The day after "Oklahoma!" I had an appointment with my absolute favourite seamstress, Sarah. She's been working on a stunning custom-made pink tutu for a special performance I have coming up next week! 🤫 (I'm not saying what it is yet... just be sure to stay tuned!)
And as always, my beloved tutu added a splash of vibrant pink to my underground journey! I felt a bit like a glamorous fairy waltzing through the subway. A few stares came my way, of course, but I embrace it! It's all part of spreading the pink tutu love! 💖
Fashion and Foodie Delights:
My weekend started with a shopping spree in one of my absolute favourite neighbourhoods: SoHo! Oh, how I love the stylish boutiques, independent designers, and those magnificent cobblestone streets. 🛍️ It truly feels like a haven for the fashion-forward and a wonderland of creativity. I always come away with some exciting finds.
And because you simply cannot go shopping without a spot of afternoon tea, I headed to The Tea Room for a spot of deliciousness! 🧁 My pick was their strawberry and clotted cream scone – pure perfection, it simply melted in my mouth! Plus, they had an adorable pink tutu-shaped cake which I had to take a picture of!
Of course, I finished the weekend with some more ballet. This time I ventured over to Brooklyn for a dance workshop hosted by a lovely group called The Ballet Collective. They offered a class focusing on contemporary ballet - something I'm really enjoying getting into these days!
As always, it was a wonderful, inspiring experience! And guess what? My class even ended with a pink tutu-themed pose! They all said I was a great inspiration, that pink tutu truly makes everyone happy! 💖 My goal to spread the pink tutu love all over the world feels closer with every passing day!
Pink Tutu Musings
I think we can all agree that New York City is a truly vibrant, exciting place. From the bustling Broadway shows to the quiet corners of SoHo, from the colourful subway lines to the intimate ballet studios, every single moment here is filled with energy, magic and wonder! ✨
The magic of New York comes from its people. There's such a unique energy in this city, people seem to really embrace individuality, embrace the spirit of expression, and dare to live their dreams, and it's a real inspiration to see.
So what can you do in your own life, even in Derbyshire? How can you bring the pink tutu magic home? My tip is simple: Do the thing that brings you the most joy, wear that colour you love the most, and go after the things that make you happy. That's the ultimate Pink Tutu philosophy: Life's meant to be colourful and fun!
