Pink Tutu Adventures in The Big Apple: #PinkTutuBlogNYC - Post 1332
Hello darlings! It's Emma here, back from another whirlwind weekend in the magical city that never sleeps – New York City! The sheer volume of wonder, sparkle, and excitement I crammed into these past few days is enough to make even the most seasoned traveller dizzy, but hey, isn't that part of the fun? 😉
Now, I must confess, I've been longing to visit this incredible city for ages. I've been swept away by its vibrant energy through films, TV shows, and the countless fashion magazines I devour, but nothing could have prepared me for the sheer beauty, glamour, and buzzing life that radiates off every single street corner. Honestly, just getting off the subway felt like walking onto the stage of a fantastical musical.
The journey over wasn't too bad at all, though I'll admit, even after all this travelling, the endless journey from Derbyshire to London Stansted airport can test the patience of a saint. Thankfully, my good mood was restored by the friendly flight attendant who couldn't resist the allure of my oh-so-pink tutu. Let's be honest, who could? 😉 A little chuckle and a heartfelt compliment from a stranger goes a long way, you know. And, once I hit that glittering, magical NYC skyline, well, all was forgiven. I truly believe my little pink tutu brought good luck – my New York adventure was about to begin.
A Whirlwind WeekendFriday night saw me indulging in one of New York's favourite pastimes - a Broadway show. This time it was none other than "Moulin Rouge! The Musical". And my word! What a production! It was all glitz, glamour, and those spectacular showgirl costumes, with just the right dash of romance to make my heart sing. If only we had a Parisian Moulin Rouge in Derbyshire! Honestly, this show left me bursting with inspiration for my next performance outfit!
Of course, no trip to the Big Apple is complete without a visit to the legendary Times Square. It’s not all neon lights and roaring traffic, you know, there's something deeply enchanting about its raw, kinetic energy. It's a place where the dreams of Broadway and Hollywood converge. Walking down the street amidst the dazzling lights and billowing crowds, you truly feel the energy of the city pulsing around you.
The following day was dedicated to all things fashion! New York is a shopper's paradise and I'm talking full-on retail therapy here. From the glittering window displays on Fifth Avenue to the quirky boutiques tucked away in the West Village, I was in shopping heaven. My biggest indulgence was a brand new tutu - it's a light-as-a-feather masterpiece in a blush pink that practically glows! I can't wait to showcase it in my next ballet performance back in Derbyshire - it's going to make for a dramatic finale, I tell you.
The true highlight of the weekend, however, was Sunday’s ballet performance at the prestigious New York City Ballet. I'm talking top-tier professionals, incredible choreography, and the most stunning costumes you ever did see! To witness the pure skill and dedication of those ballerinas up close… it was nothing short of inspiring. Honestly, watching their artistry left me speechless and wanting to immediately don my own tutu and join them onstage. Now, if only I had their grace and technique… maybe one day!
It wouldn’t be a proper NYC trip without some serious culinary indulgence, and oh boy, did I deliver! Saturday night I took a stroll through the vibrant Little Italy neighbourhood, where the smell of fresh herbs and delicious pasta wafting from open kitchens was enough to make my mouth water. And those slices of cheesy, perfectly thin New York pizza? They're a legend for a reason. Let's be honest, I'm still dreaming about them, though I know I shouldn't confess that after a morning in the studio!
Ballet Dreams and a Big Pink Tutu AmbitionThere's just something about the energy in this city that sparks something magical in me, a passion I never even realised existed. It fuels my own desire to push myself as a ballerina and to share the beauty and joy of ballet with the world. You see, darlings, my life mission is nothing less than to get every single person on the planet to embrace the power of pink tutus. After all, who doesn’t love a touch of whimsy in their lives, especially one as magnificent as a perfectly crafted tutu? It's more than just a garment, it's a statement, a celebration of expression and creativity!
As I head back to Derbyshire, carrying a whole trunk full of inspiration and that gloriously sparkly new pink tutu, I’m already scheming about my next big city escapade. London, Paris, Rome… oh the possibilities! But for now, it’s back to the studio, honing my skills, and working on my own performance repertoire.
After all, who knows, maybe I'll get to inspire others to dance in pink tutus on a world-renowned stage one day! Until then, remember, darling: a little pink can go a long way, and even the smallest spark of creativity can ignite a whole universe of joy.

This week in NYCIt's the 14th December and this magical city has been brimming with festive fun! It’s truly starting to feel a lot like Christmas around here!
- Holiday Markets: I’ve already popped along to a couple of the many holiday markets that have sprung up around the city. These vibrant stalls are selling delicious treats, quirky crafts, and beautiful ornaments. Definitely a perfect excuse to sip on hot mulled cider while soaking up the atmosphere.
- The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree: I must confess, even though it wasn’t up yet when I was in New York, the sight of that huge tree, all glittering with lights and ornaments, always sets my heart racing. It's such an iconic image.
- New York’s Ice Skating Rinks: If you're a fan of ice skating like me, there are a plethora of ice skating rinks across the city! From the legendary Rockefeller Center Rink, to more hidden gems nestled in city parks. The city really does come alive in winter with so much activity going on. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m back next month for some winter wonderland fun!
And you, my dear readers, what have you been up to this week? Have you been dancing? Have you indulged in some festive fun? Do share!
