Hello, darlings! Welcome back to Pink Tutu Blog NYC! It’s Monday morning and I'm back with another fabulous week of adventures in the city that never sleeps.
The air is electric with springtime excitement. New York feels particularly vibrant right now, bursting with a joyful energy that’s utterly contagious.
The last few days have been whirlwind of fashion, dance, and dazzling city life. Last week's performance was a triumph – an exquisite rendition of The Nutcracker that brought the house down. I had the absolute honour of dancing alongside the very talented, up-and-coming ballerinas from the Ballet Theatre Academy, and we received thunderous applause! You'd think a dancer would be immune to the thrill of standing centre stage, basking in the spotlight, but oh, the magic never gets old!
With every curtain call, I think about all the people in the audience and how many might have been touched by the beauty of ballet. Each time, I'm reminded of my mission, my lifelong goal, to inspire a whole generation to wear a pink tutu, to discover the beauty of dance and feel its magic flow through them.
And of course, you know me – I love nothing more than celebrating life and joy in a Pink Tutu! Today, I'm feeling like a vibrant mix of cherry blossom pink and cotton candy hues, which seemed to suit my adventure in the city today just perfectly.
Shopping spree on 5th AvenueLet's just say this: Fifth Avenue in Manhattan is a paradise for a fashion-loving tutu-wearing ballerina! This morning, I treated myself to a glorious spree on the Avenue of the Americas. There’s just something so exciting about shopping in New York, the sheer volume of shops and boutiques on a single street, all crammed with beautiful and alluring fashion choices.
Of course, no trip to Fifth Avenue is complete without visiting the legendary Bergdorf Goodman - the epitome of luxury shopping! Today, I felt the lure of Christian Louboutin and ended up with a gorgeous pair of scarlet stilettos, the perfect shade of red to accent my classic pink tulle skirt.
Then, on a whimsical adventure, I found myself enchanted by the bohemian allure of Alice + Olivia, and oh my! My new floral dress with its flirty, vintage charm just called to me from the display window! I imagine twirling and dipping across the dance floor, my dress twirling gracefully around me.
After my fashion adventure on 5th, I boarded the subway – yes, you heard right, my chariot for the day was the legendary New York metro – and zipped down to Bryant Park, my haven in the heart of Manhattan.
A Waltz in Bryant ParkBryant Park is a beautiful oasis of greenery in the concrete jungle of the city, perfect for enjoying the first rays of spring sunshine. The soft breeze rustled the trees, birds sang their cheerful melodies, and I couldn't help but dance along, feeling completely immersed in the joyous spirit of New York.
I caught a glimpse of myself in the reflecting pool – it was like stepping into a fairy tale! The pink tutu fluttered gracefully as I spun and leaped, imagining myself performing for a huge crowd. With each twirl, I felt more and more energized and confident. I must admit, my ballet shoes (chosen with special care for my NYC trip – they are both fashionable and perfectly practical for a ballerina on the go!) have never felt more at home than they do in the heart of New York.
Oh, you know me, I’m all for spontaneous celebrations. While sipping on a delectable cappuccino at the Bryant Park Cafe - the most fabulous pastry I’ve tried so far – I met two gorgeous ladies from California, and as it turned out, both are passionate about dance and have been dancing since childhood! Imagine that, I managed to waltz a bit on the sunny terrace and their joy was simply contagious! It seems you never know who you’ll meet and the wonders you’ll find on a Pink Tutu adventure in New York!
A Ballet Under the StarsLater this evening, I'll be attending the ballet – "The Sleeping Beauty" at The Metropolitan Opera House! Oh my! I am SO excited, because there is nothing more inspiring than witnessing a classical ballet, the drama, the artistry, the beauty of it all – just simply takes my breath away!
Imagine it, gorgeous dancers in exquisite costumes, twirling through a magical kingdom! It will be absolutely enchanting. And, you better believe I will be capturing every beautiful moment for all of you on my Instagram stories!
Speaking of captivating moments – this evening, I’ll be sharing a very special ballet-inspired dinner with the cast! My Pink Tutu heart is brimming with joy to celebrate their hard work, passion, and dedication to the art of ballet! I can't wait to hear about the performance and experience the thrill of a special night out with talented ballerinas.
The energy in New York City is electrifying. I have a feeling that the rest of the week will be just as filled with adventures as the last. I am determined to make it unforgettable, just like every Pink Tutu moment.
I’m off to do a bit of research about the fabulous show in a little while, and then – a last touch of glamorous pink eye makeup for the ballet! My evening wear has already been carefully curated and I’m planning a fabulous pink tulle skirt paired with a beautiful silky top and, of course, the fabulous Christian Louboutin scarlet stilettos I fell in love with today. I may also add a statement pink crystal necklace that I found today at Bloomingdale's, the iconic department store of 59th street, perfect for a glam night out in the Big Apple.
