Pink Tutu Blog NYC #1369: New York, New York, I Can See My Tutu From Here!

Hello darlings! Emma here, reporting live from the Big Apple – the city that never sleeps! And neither do I when I'm here, honestly! πŸ’…πŸ»βœ¨

It’s Monday, 30th August 2021, and I'm buzzing! The past week has been a whirlwind of tutu twirls, fashion finds, and Broadway brilliance, and I'm just bursting to share every detail with you.

So, where do I even begin? Well, first things first, you'll never guess where I started my week! The Metropolitan Museum of Art! Now, normally, a museum visit wouldn't be top of my list – unless, of course, they had a fabulous ballet exhibition (and they sometimes do!), but this was a special occasion.

You see, it was the Met Gala, the most prestigious and extravagant fashion event on the calendar. And, I'll be honest, the invite was pretty alluring – champagne, caviar, and the creme de la creme of fashion. Even I, the self-proclaimed Queen of Pink Tutus, was a little bit starstruck.

I, of course, had to wear a tutu! And, since it was the Met Gala, I decided on a couture pink tulle confection that looked like a cloud dipped in rose champagne. Imagine the most intricate layers, soft as a whisper, sparkling with thousands of tiny sequins, and the most ethereal silhouette, flowing and romantic, like a ballerina waltzing through a dreamscape. That, darlings, is what I was wearing to the Met! πŸ’«πŸ’–

I can’t tell you who I saw or the delicious hors d'oeuvres that made my tummy dance, that's for another post! 🀫 What I can tell you is that it felt truly magical to be among such an incredible group of artists, performers, and fashion icons.

And the real beauty of it all? It reminded me once again that there's no place in the world quite like New York! The energy is electric, the ambition infectious, and the style - oh my goodness, the style! πŸ—½πŸ’ƒπŸ»

Speaking of style, let's talk fashion finds! You all know how much I adore browsing for the perfect vintage threads, and this week, my heart went pitter patter over some magnificent finds at Bleecker Street's iconic "The Reformation".

First, a pair of stunning, floral-print culottes (I know, a little different for my usual skirt and tutu combos but just divine with a simple white top)! They were the epitome of femininity, with a flowing, A-line cut and delicate embroidery that screamed springtime in the city. They’ll look absolutely fabulous with my most vibrant pink tutus! I paired them with a light, lacy, peach-coloured camisole from their vintage collection – the perfect combination for strolling through Central Park on a crisp, New York day. 🌸🌼

Of course, I can't resist a pink feather boa – a necessity for a stylish lady on the go. πŸ’«

Speaking of New York style, did you know that the city's fashion scene is a mix of street-smart and couture glamour? It's the place where you can see a runway model in a designer gown one minute, and then a stylish barista rocking a vintage leather jacket the next! It’s all about individuality and owning your personal style. And it's just so inspiring to watch! ✨

And just as a side note, I can't even begin to describe how much I love the vibrant murals and art installations sprinkled throughout the city. From whimsical street art to awe-inspiring gallery displays, there's a piece of art to capture every mood and imagination! They truly add to the city's electric energy and creative atmosphere. πŸ–ΌοΈ

Oh, and did I mention I found an incredible vintage pink feather fascinator for my collection? It's the perfect touch of whimsy to my evening ensembles! You can bet it's going to make an appearance in all my upcoming photo shoots! πŸ’…πŸ»

Next, I couldn't possibly visit New York without witnessing some of the most spectacular Broadway shows! I snagged tickets for the new musical "Hamilton" (it’s so inspiring how the creators took a historical figure and gave him such a captivating voice through their musical storytelling!). You know how much I love historic figures in dance dramas - remember those amazing tutus from The Great Gatsby and Diana: The Musical? This show did not disappoint! The choreography was fast-paced and energetic, the costumes, truly iconic (so much gold!), and the entire audience, completely enthralled by the magic that was unfolding on the stage. πŸ™Œ

Speaking of magical, you know I adore a good ballet performance – it's where my heart truly sings. So, it was only fitting to head to Lincoln Center, the iconic heart of the city's performing arts scene, and catch a breathtaking New York City Ballet performance. The entire experience felt surreal. From the elegant dancers and exquisite choreography, to the stunning New York State Theater building with its dramatic architecture and a view of Central Park! It was ballet heaven. ✨ 🩰

My goodness, I feel as if I'm bursting with excitement! I could share my fashion finds, artistic adventures, and theatrical explorations with you for hours on end! However, my journey continues tomorrow - I've got tickets for the "Book of Mormon" on Broadway, a private vintage tutu fitting with a renowned New York fashion designer, and a little bit of shopping in between! πŸ›οΈ

But, I'll save those stories for another day. For now, thank you for joining me on my New York adventure! I hope my post inspired you to follow your own dreams, embrace your individuality, and most importantly, twirl with passion and confidence wherever you go. Remember, my darlings, life is a stage, and every moment is a performance. And, there's always room for a little bit of pink tutu magic. πŸ’–

See you next week!

Emma xo

P.S. Did you know there are over 400 ballet companies performing all over the USA? I wonder if I’ll ever see them all...

P.P.S. I just love sharing my journey with you, darlings. My ballet performances and a pinch of savings make it all possible, and I couldn't do it without you! I hope my little blog brightens up your week. 🩰
