#PinkTutuBlogNYC - Monday 2021-10-25 - She Danced in New York City! ๐Ÿฉฐ ๐Ÿ—ฝ

Hello darlings!

Welcome to #PinkTutuBlogNYC - Post Number 1377! I hope this finds you twirling happily wherever you are. I'm currently nestled in the Big Apple, soaking up the sights and sounds, and, of course, getting my fill of ballet! ๐ŸŽ

As always, I'm here to share my latest adventures, outfit discoveries, and ballet delights with you - all from the lens of my oh-so-pink tutu!

Derbyshire Girl Takes On The Big Apple

You might remember that I last visited the bustling streets of New York back in July for a whirlwind tour of the city's biggest ballet shows. I was swept away by the grandeur of the Metropolitan Opera House, the stunning choreography, and the dazzling performances. But you know me, darling โ€“ one trip to the Big Apple isn't enough. So, I'm back!

This time around, I'm on a mission to explore the city beyond the glitz of Broadway. And I have to say, the best way to do that is with my trusty MetroCard tucked securely in my ballet bag! ๐Ÿš‡ Yes, I'm embracing the city's famous subway system โ€“ it's a real adventure! The clanging of the trains, the rhythmic hustle of people darting about โ€“ it's almost as exciting as a dance number. Plus, it allows me to travel across the city quickly and easily, leaving more time to dance my heart out and soak up the sights!

Dancing in the Streets - and on Stage

New York, of course, has a world of incredible ballet on offer. This time around, I'm hitting up some fabulous shows:

  • The Ballet Theatre - I just couldn't resist seeing The Nutcracker - a Christmas classic, and my absolute favourite! The sets are absolutely stunning - I'm already planning to buy the Nutcracker doll!

  • New York City Ballet โ€“ The energy is just electric, you can feel the passion in every performance. I absolutely adored their modern rendition of "Swan Lake." I've already got my ticket for their "Sleeping Beauty" showing next week, can't wait!

But I'm not just sticking to traditional theatre, darling! The beauty of New York City is the sheer number of dance styles it embraces. This past week I was lucky enough to catch a Ballet Street performance, set to a dynamic and eclectic soundtrack. It was fresh, bold, and unbelievably creative. The dancers are truly talented and it was amazing to see their own interpretations of the "classical" choreography. It just goes to show that the possibilities are truly endless when it comes to ballet - which is what I am always aiming to showcase!

And of course, I can't forget the joy of ballet class! While I miss the familiar faces at the Derbyshire Dance Studio, I've found some gems in New York. The energy in the studios is buzzing! I've even tried some funky styles like ballet fusion and street ballet, they are quite something, even a pro like me has had to push my boundaries a little. I've made new friends in the ballet world - some fabulously inspiring ballerinas.

A Pink-tutu Tour of the Big Apple - All the Shopping Delights

But it's not just about dance, darling! What's a trip to New York without some seriously fabulous fashion? ๐Ÿ‘

I've been spending way too much time in Soho โ€“ it's a haven for boutique designers and independent creators. I stumbled across the most exquisite, handcrafted pink tutu, and needless to say, it's now part of my wardrobe! Itโ€™s so beautifully detailed, I even found myself in a store selling delicate tutu ornaments for the Christmas tree - what a fabulous idea for all those friends and family members I just want to get to wear a pink tutu.

I can't get enough of The Village either โ€“ the streets are teeming with vintage clothing shops, so much potential to find an old tutus that can be brought back to life! They really know how to make their dresses flow on the mannequins in the shops in New York! You would be absolutely shocked at the lengths they go to, I was blown away. A classic New York The Loft shopping experience with a pink tutu is the icing on the cake.

But I always try to include a few little independent shops wherever I go - the charm is unbeatable! The owner of one little boutique I went to is making me an incredible pink-tutu embellished hair accessory that will match the one Iโ€™m wearing in these pics โ€“ canโ€™t wait! This makes my day - it's the perfect finishing touch to any look!

And let's not forget about Central Park, darling! The perfect spot to take a moment and admire the scenery โ€“ all in a fabulous pink tutu, of course! If there is anywhere on Earth you can really stand out from the crowd it's New York and I'm more than up for the challenge. I always grab an extra slice of pizza for my day out, you wouldnโ€™t be a real ballerina in NYC without a bit of pizza! I know you canโ€™t eat too many of those in a pink tutu, so I go for the thin crust pizza with loads of vegetables. The pizza-eating ritual and the churning of the big pizza wheels at a pizza stall in NYC is something else entirely!

Get the Look! My Pink Tutu Must-Haves!

For all my darling readers wanting to channel a little New York vibe in your own outfits, here's my essential must-haves:

1. The Pink Tutu: You know I adore a pink tutu for all occasions โ€“ so of course I love to rock a Tulle Ballerina tutu skirt paired with my new pink jumper with puff sleeves and these lovely ballet pumps - this look really screams New York City. You can get so many different styles now, and you donโ€™t have to have a matching top or just ballet wear it as part of a regular outfit!

2. The Statement Shoes: New York is all about comfort, but always a little bit chic! A statement pair of ankle boots, with chunky heels is a winner - itโ€™s going to really complete a simple but elegant New York City vibe look. And if you donโ€™t fancy ankle boots, you can easily rock a pair of statement trainers โ€“ remember comfort first in NYC darling! They are an excellent match with the pink tutu โ€“ I love the contrast.

3. The Little Black Dress (LBD) : Always, always in a stylish, elegant LBD! The LBD is a staple item - the New York girl's best friend. Pair with chunky jewellery for an urban edge. You can throw a black LBD on with a pair of statement heels or boots - but keep that tutu handy โ€“ thereโ€™s nothing better for making a grand entrance on the New York stage, so to speak!

4.The Ballet Bag: A cute pink, or sparkly ballet bag is perfect for the essential necessities like lipstick, blush, hair brush and maybe a book!

5.The Pink Tutu Earrings: This is a great way to incorporate some sparkle in a really stylish and chic way โ€“ or go bold with some pink diamond sparkly earrings for the extra dazzle! The key is to have your earrings echo the theme, and of course, match a beautiful pink tutu โ€“ I think pink tutus really deserve their own earrings!
