Pink Tutu Blog NYC: #1382 - A Whirlwind Week in the City That Never Sleeps!

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, and welcome back to another week of pink tulle and twinkling lights, straight from the heart of New York City. As the chill of November begins to bite, this week has been filled with twirls, shopping sprees, and oh-so-much inspiration! I'm bubbling over with so much to share that I could barely wait for Monday to arrive!

As always, let's start with what's going on in my world: this week, I danced! And no, I don't mean just twirling around my flat (though let's be honest, I do plenty of that too!) I performed at a stunning fundraising event for a local ballet school. It's a passion project of mine, supporting the next generation of graceful dancers, and what better way to do so than with a pirouette or two? I adorned a whimsical tulle skirt in the most delicate shade of rose โ€“ because you just can't get too much pink in life, right?

Speaking of ballet, my biggest highlight this week was seeing the incredible Romeo & Juliet at the Metropolitan Opera. It's always an utter delight to watch such incredible artistry in a setting like that! The sets were breathtakingly grand, the dancers were simply divine, and the story, well, it still pulls at my heartstrings. My trusty pink tulle, of course, accompanied me, and it perfectly captured the romanticism of the evening!

Now, if there's one thing I love almost as much as a good ballet, it's shopping for outfits that spark joy, and my New York trip wouldn't be complete without a few visits to my favourite shops. The department stores here are absolutely legendary, a wonderland of beautiful fabrics and sparkling sequins. I snagged the most delightful velvet top with pearl detailing โ€“ oh, and the most perfect emerald green beret to match! You just never know what treasures you'll find in New York, darlings.

Another delightful discovery this week: the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute! What an extraordinary treasure trove of sartorial history, filled with the most captivating and awe-inspiring designs from all eras. My favourite find: a gorgeous collection of Edwardian ball gowns - each one a masterpiece in silk and lace! This whole experience was simply inspirational โ€“ a must-visit for anyone with a love of fashion.

What else was going on in this fantastic city this week?

  • Monday: The first snowfall of the season! Just a sprinkle, mind you, but it set a beautifully crisp tone for the week, and gave everything that delightful festive shimmer.
  • Tuesday: A charming evening spent at the New York Botanical Garden, exploring their whimsical light display for their Winter Wonderland festival.
  • Wednesday: A visit to the iconic Rockefeller Center. I mean, can you really visit New York and not take a peek at the giant Christmas tree? It's simply magical, a true symbol of holiday cheer.
  • Thursday: I braved the infamous Black Friday sales. It was a frenzy, to be sure, but with a little patience (and lots of pink!), I managed to snag some amazing deals โ€“ new shoes! (Who needs reasons?)
  • Friday: Dinner with some fabulous local dancers, chatting about life, art, and our shared love for the stage. It's so invigorating to connect with like-minded souls who understand the passion that fuels our love for dance.
  • Saturday: A lazy day browsing local markets and indulging in a delicious cup of hot cocoa. You can never have too many steaming mugs of delicious cocoa, and there is something about a good wintery day in New York that begs for this delightful drink.
  • Sunday: A day of exploring Central Park. I wandered along its leafy paths, admired the fall colours, and enjoyed a peaceful moment to breathe it all in, contemplating the magic of this city.

As always, darling, my pink tutu has been my constant companion throughout all my adventures. It truly is the perfect symbol of joy, elegance, and that unbridled love of life that I try to infuse into everything I do!

And remember, if you ever find yourself in the bustling heart of New York City, just take a peek at a vibrant, twirling ballerina in pink! It might just be me, trying to inspire the world, one tutu at a time!

Until next time,

Emma x
