Hello darlings! Emma here, reporting live from the concrete jungle – New York City! The city that never sleeps is already pulsating with life and I, well, I’m absolutely buzzing with excitement.

This is the start of another exciting week here in NYC, a whirlwind of ballet shows, Broadway musicals, and, of course, a spot of shopping! Let’s be honest, you can’t come to the city that never sleeps without getting a little retail therapy in. I’ve been lucky enough to find some amazing new additions to my pink wardrobe – can’t wait to share them with you soon!

It's amazing how my pink tutu has been turning heads wherever I go! Today I’m wearing my ‘Manhattan Mermaid’ tutu. You know, with the glittering silver scales and the swishing, satin ribbon – the ultimate New York fairy-tale vibe! People just stop to smile and compliment the tutu, and I have to say, the compliments on the tutu are just the cherry on top.

NYC’s Magical Underground

Before diving into all the fashion finds and fabulous shows I’ve experienced, I’ve got to talk about my absolute favourite way to explore the city – by subway! This past week, I’ve been hopping on and off those iconic, orange trains with an enthusiasm only a pink-tutu-wearing ballerina can muster!

The metro system is an incredible network of tunnels that feels like an underground wonderland. There's something really magical about being down in those subterranean corridors, with the walls decorated in colorful mosaics, the clatter of trains, and the mix of characters rushing by. It's the heart of the city, and a little secret, I find myself feeling inspired by it all. Maybe that's why I find I always think up my best blog post ideas when I'm riding the subway!

Speaking of inspiration, I can’t talk about NYC without mentioning the glorious New York City Ballet! Oh, how I love the dancers’ effortless grace and strength, their flawless technique and passion! There is so much artistic excellence here – it really does make you want to dance, and dance hard!

Ballet Inspiration

Last night, I was fortunate to catch a performance of “Serenade”, and I just couldn't help but be mesmerized. It’s always an absolute treat to witness the timeless beauty of ballet through such skilled and dedicated dancers. My pink tutu twirled right along, keeping in perfect time with the music. There's nothing quite like feeling that sense of camaraderie with the performers and the audience, sharing the energy of the stage together. It's a powerful feeling, you know?

But the city's ballet scene doesn't stop at the famous Lincoln Center. Oh, no, the magic of dance stretches far and wide throughout NYC. Today, I am excited to visit the legendary Steps on Broadway. Steps, for anyone who doesn't know, is this amazing space dedicated to all things dance. The ultimate hub for dance, classes, and the vibrant community that surrounds this beautiful art. It's buzzing with talented dancers from all backgrounds. A real kaleidoscope of people, styles, and energy, which I find just utterly thrilling.

The Pink Tutu Makes its Way to Broadway

Of course, a visit to NYC wouldn't be complete without seeing a show on Broadway! I have tickets to “Six” tonight, a musical about the wives of Henry VIII! The show has had incredible buzz and I can’t wait to see this fresh, powerful portrayal of history, served with a side of pop-infused flair! I’ve already chosen the perfect pink tutu outfit to complement the occasion, featuring my "Tudor Rose" tutu and a matching fuchsia fascinator. Can't wait to snap some selfies for the 'gram with my pink tutu shining under the Broadway lights!

The shows, the ballet, the shopping, and of course, the incredible energy of this city – it's truly invigorating! But I can’t forget about where I came from – the beautiful English countryside. And, sometimes, amidst the buzz of NYC, I find myself longing for the quiet lanes, the rolling hills and the familiar warmth of home. Even with the skyscrapers looming high and the relentless hum of city life, I manage to keep Derbyshire, my little slice of home, close to my heart. It is my base, my source of peace and inspiration. I wouldn't be who I am, with my pink tutu and my boundless enthusiasm, if it weren’t for the lovely, rolling green countryside I grew up in.

Speaking of which, Derbyshire is also the inspiration behind my new pink business venture, a charming shop called ‘The Tutu Garden’, located in the charming market town of Bakewell. You'll find a delightful collection of handcrafted balletwear, tutus, and dance accessories for all ages – every shade of pink imaginable! The opening is coming up very soon – I’ll be sure to keep you posted!

A Pink Tutu's Perspective

Even though this week has been a whirlwind, I’ve still managed to get in my daily dance workouts. The tutu is always a key part of my daily routine! It reminds me that dance isn’t just about technique or perfecting movements; it's also about celebrating your love for the art form and bringing a little extra sunshine into your world.

It is amazing how the pink tutu has the ability to make even the most mundane routine, like a metro journey, into a beautiful, vibrant dance. It's a way to share your joy and creativity with others, and to show that being different and celebrating yourself are the most amazing things! I find it is a reminder that it is completely acceptable to twirl your way through life, no matter where you are in the world!

Oh, and let’s not forget, with the pink tutu comes the chance to experiment with different styles, different occasions and even to encourage others to join the movement! Because, let’s face it, who wouldn't love to feel the exhilaration of swirling in a pink tutu? The joy, the creativity and the beauty it brings is a sensation we all deserve to experience, and it’s a gift I want to share with the world.
