#PinkTutuBlogNYC Monday 2022-05-30: She Danced in New York City! (Post 1408)

Good morning, darlings! Itā€™s Monday, which means itā€™s time for another edition of #PinkTutuBlogNYC, direct from the vibrant heart of New York City. I hope youā€™re all having a wonderful week so far!

As many of you know, I'm a girl who absolutely adores a bit of sparkle. So you can imagine my delight when I found myself spinning through the streets of this magnificent metropolis in my very own, brand new, hot pink tutu. You can see pictures in my Instagram feed if you havenā€™t had a chance to take a peek. šŸ˜‰

This past week, dear readers, was just bursting with dazzling activities, making me wish I could clone myself just to fit everything in! And of course, I just had to capture all the fun for you right here in my beloved blog.

So, settle in with a cuppa, put your feet up and letā€™s dive into the enchanting adventure that was my week in New York City!

Thursday: A Tutu-tastic Day at the Theatre!

You all know how much I love a good theatrical performance, so when I discovered that the American Ballet Theatre was hosting a production of "Swan Lake" this week, I was practically giddy with excitement! Oh, the sheer elegance of those graceful swans and the exquisite choreography ā€“ I was spellbound! šŸ¦¢

Even more exciting was spotting a familiar face amongst the dancers. Did you know that one of my favourite ballet schools, The Royal Ballet, is in fact, collaborating with the American Ballet Theatre? It really feels like the whole world is one big tutu-tastic stage. šŸ¤©

After the performance, I wandered through Times Square, soaking in the glittering atmosphere. As always, this iconic city just never fails to amaze me! The bright lights, the energy ā€“ I practically danced my way down the streets!

Friday: Finding Fabulous Finds!

Fashion, my loves, is an absolute passion! And what better place to indulge in it than in New York City! A few weeks back, I had a stroke of brilliant luck. I found the perfect excuse for a bit of retail therapy! The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) announced an incredible fundraising exhibition, ā€œFrom Sketch to Screen: The Costume Design of Colleen Atwood.ā€ Did I mention that Colleen Atwood is an absolute genius? She's responsible for iconic costumes in movies like "Chicago," "Memoirs of a Geisha," and ā€œAlice in Wonderlandā€ ā€“ and now, you can see all her sketches! It was like being transported into the heart of the fashion industry, with pieces like a glittery gown worn by Nicole Kidman in "Moulin Rouge," a bright yellow suit designed for ā€œEdward Scissorhands,ā€ and so many other showstoppers! Afterward, of course, I had to find myself something fab! No visit to New York City is complete without a visit to Macyā€™s, which offers an unbeatable shopping experience. Honestly, youā€™ll have to see the amazing variety and selection. I just about lost my mind with excitement! I was in shopping heaven, my lovelies! Just picture mountains of shimmering silk, sequined blouses, and beautiful dresses, all awaiting my discovery! Needless to say, my bags were full! šŸ‘œ

Saturday: A New York City Ballet Adventure

Oh, Saturday! My day at the New York City Ballet, darling, was a symphony of sheer brilliance! I could not resist going to the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. This iconic landmark truly captures the magic of ballet, with its grand stage, sophisticated ambiance, and, of course, world-renowned ballet dancers. The program I saw included the incredible "Serenade" by George Balanchine. The choreography, the music, the dancers ā€“ all were beyond captivating!

I couldn't have imagined a better Saturday night. I truly believe this city holds a very special place in my heart!

Sunday: A Relaxed Morning at Central Park

To unwind after my busy weekend, I had to find somewhere tranquil. Central Park, my darlings, always proves to be the perfect oasis in this bustling city. It's truly a magical green lung within the heart of Manhattan! šŸŒ³ I decided to do some window shopping in Bloomingdale's. My tutu was a sight to behold amongst the many stylish New Yorkers. šŸ˜‰ Afterward, I had lunch at one of the iconic Central Park cafes, enjoying the crisp air and vibrant energy surrounding me. It was truly an unforgettable moment!

And that, my sweethearts, was my unforgettable week! New York City truly makes me feel like Iā€™ve found my forever home.

New York City in a Tutu:

Speaking of home, I know I mentioned I wanted to visit my dear home in Derbyshire this month. But let's be honest ā€“ this amazing city, its vibrant spirit, the magnificent art, the fashion, the beauty ā€“ it just pulls me right back in! And my sweet friends, who can resist the magic of New York City, even in a tutu? I canā€™t think of any place where my creativity and passions would be more supported and celebrated than in New York City. After all, every day is a new opportunity for adventure here, a chance to step onto a different stage, and, perhaps, even inspire someone to embrace the joy of wearing a tutu, even if itā€™s just in your own home!

This Week's Ballet Picks

Hereā€™s what caught my eye, and if you happen to be in the area ā€“ perhaps weā€™ll meet there! :

  • ā€œAn Evening of Balanchineā€: The New York City Ballet offers another spectacular display of ballet, featuring Balanchine's iconic "Apollo" and more.
  • The Joyce Theater: Donā€™t miss this showcase of incredible independent dance companies, each pushing boundaries and showcasing unique styles.

I also thought you might enjoy learning about what others are saying! My most popular #PinkTutuBlogNYC posts so far this month are ā€œOde to a Pink Tutuā€, and ā€œTaking The Dance To The Streets Of NYC,ā€ where I show you the places where you can find New York City ballet schools! So, click on over and join the conversation! I want to know your favourite tutu and what your go-to ballet dance is!

This Weekā€™s Challenge!

This week, I dare you to try a bit of dancing yourself, perhaps in the privacy of your home, in a park, in your studioā€¦ even in a tutu if you're feeling bold! Even the smallest movements, a little spin, some leaping, anything at all, can fill your day with magic! Don't be afraid to release your inner ballerina. You never know where a little tutu might take you! šŸ©°

Fashion Alert!

Of course, it's not all dancing and tutus here at #PinkTutuBlogNYC! Speaking of fashion, what caught my eye at Bloomingdales was the newest ā€œLā€™Autreā€ by Stella McCartney dress, which would be perfect for a date night at a trendy New York City restaurant or a trip to the theatre, complete with a dramatic feather and sequined detail, but it can also work for a day-time stroll!

See you all next Monday! XOXO Emma
