Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Monday 2022-08-08 - She Danced in New York City!
#PinkTutuBlogNYC Post 1418!
Hello my lovely tutu twirlers! Welcome back to Pink Tutu Blog NYC. As always, you can find my musings on my beloved website www.pink-tutu.com every Monday! I hope you had a fabulous week of pirouettes and pink-tastic adventures.
I'm currently writing from the bustling streets of New York City - my heart still soaring after an unforgettable week of dance, fashion, and glorious city sights. The energy here is simply electrifying - the people, the architecture, the lights, the shows, everything makes your senses sparkle.
Oh New York, you really do have it all, don't you? This city truly has something for everyone, from breathtaking art and museums, the stunning Central Park, and of course the vibrant Broadway theatres, not to mention all the fabulous dance performances that my soul craves.
Let's get right to it โ this week's post is a celebration of all the wonder I experienced in the city that never sleeps, all while rocking my favourite pink tutus!
Wednesday 2022-08-03 A Dance Performance at Lincoln Center
I was buzzing with excitement this Wednesday when I set off for a private dance performance in a hidden gem of a theatre at the heart of Lincoln Center! This performance had a slightly experimental and contemporary twist which I loved, it's so refreshing to step outside my comfort zone, I always find I learn so much more that way!
The music for this piece was so unique and atmospheric - a beautiful blend of instruments, electronica, and ambient sounds - which brought this evocative performance to life. The lighting in the space was equally magical, casting shadows that played a significant part in telling the story - It's always amazing how light can truly bring a piece to another level.
I took the subway uptown, a whole carriage was dedicated to the dancers on their way to the performance - we were a beautiful sight with all our colourful tutus, making everyone around us smile. I'd say that's one of the main benefits of tutus, everyone can't help but feel happy in them! They have a truly unique joyful vibe!
Thursday 2022-08-04 - An afternoon at MoMA
Let's talk about fashion! One of my absolute favourite activities when I visit NYC is indulging in the fashion scene - so I simply couldn't pass up a day at the iconic MoMA, where the design exhibition blew my mind.
Now I have a secret that I want to share with you lovely tutu-twirlers! Did you know that you can get into MoMA for free after 4 PM on Friday? It's such a great little secret, but let's keep it between us!
That Thursday afternoon, I got lost in a wonderful exhibit about 20th-century design. There were so many stunning gowns from past decades on display โ oh, I was swooning! Every dress and detail, so full of inspiration. It really got my creative juices flowing!
After that, I ventured out into the surrounding area for some retail therapy. A quick peek in Bloomingdales (I couldn't resist) led to the most darling pastel pink scarf I couldn't live without - a must-have addition to my pink tutu wardrobe! I couldn't resist having a bit of fun with some new, stylish shades - I found a great little vintage boutique, and let's just say the pink glasses were too cute to ignore! (But of course - they would match my tutus perfectly!)
Friday 2022-08-05 โ The Grand Central Terminal
New York has a certain magic, a palpable energy - there's nowhere else like it, and on Friday I felt it radiating from Grand Central Terminal. It really is a marvel of architectural brilliance, isn't it? Such a historic treasure! The beautiful vaulted ceilings, the marbled floors, and the clock - such an iconic symbol of the city - they all bring a sense of history to life, transporting me to a different time.
On a day that called for a long ballet class, I made the most of my trip from Midtown to the Lower East Side, pausing for photos with the iconic Oyster Bar! Then I was on the Metro again, zooming to my dance class in Chelsea - one of the busiest dance districts in New York - the studios just seem to pop up on every corner - I love that vibe!
Saturday 2022-08-06 - Shopping on Fifth Avenue!
Where can you find the most beautiful shops, with windows that draw you in? Fifth Avenue! There is truly something special about window shopping along Fifth Avenue, where fashion houses show off the latest creations in dazzling displays. It really was an inspiring Saturday - just browsing!
A true testament to the world's obsession with tutus, there was a fabulous display featuring all different coloured tutus. Now, even in this city that knows its fashion, you never really see tutus used in window displays (apart from, perhaps, a Christmas tree ballerina) - so it was a dream come true for me! I couldn't resist taking a picture. (To find it follow my Insta! @pinktutuEmma)
Sunday 2022-08-07 โ Broadway Baby!
And of course, no trip to New York is complete without a visit to Broadway - oh, what a thrill it always is to step into that buzzing atmosphere! The anticipation, the excitement of hearing that musical magic as the show starts. It's pure magic!
This Sunday I caught a heartwarming musical featuring the amazing story of a group of dancing youngsters pursuing their dreams in a Broadway Dance Academy. My heart swelled, there was so much passion on stage. And of course - all of the main roles were dressed in gorgeous costumes - including - you guessed it - tutus! This is why I'm always on the lookout for my next tutu to wear - my dance fashion can really change a day into a magical moment!
And there we have it - my fabulous week in the Big Apple!
Until next week my beautiful pink tutu dancers! I hope this post has been full of inspiring energy. And, remember, if you're ever looking for an incredible tutu to bring some joy into your life, just pop over to my shop at www.pink-tutu.com.
Sending all my love and best wishes from sunny, sparkling New York City!
