Pink Tutu Blog NYC - #1430: Dancing Dreams in the Big Apple 🩰🍎

Hey lovely readers!

It’s Monday again, which means it’s time for another Pink Tutu Blog NYC post! 🎉 I'm currently sitting in a fab little cafe in the West Village, sipping on a delicious latte (extra frothy, naturally!), and reflecting on a simply glorious weekend spent dancing and discovering the magic of New York City.

This week, I wanted to talk to you all about my absolute favourite thing - tutus. 👑 Let’s face it, the tutu is more than just a garment. It’s a statement, a symbol of grace and joy, and, dare I say it, the epitome of pure, unadulterated girl power. ✨

I know some of you might be thinking, “Emma, tutus? In New York City? Isn’t that a bit…much?” And I’ll admit, it definitely takes a bit of confidence to twirl around Times Square in a fluffy pink tutu! 🤪 But for me, that’s exactly what makes it so exhilarating. It’s about celebrating the fun, the colour, the pure unbridled joy of expressing yourself – and in my case, that definitely includes a splash of pink. 😉

Speaking of pink… I know, I know, I'm obsessed! It's my colour, my happy place. It evokes everything joyful and fun - candy floss, cotton candy clouds, playful giggles! 💗 And it simply doesn’t get more pinktastic than strutting around NYC in a tutu that's as bright as a bubblegum dream!

So, you may be wondering… how did I manage to swing a weekend in New York? Well, lucky for me, I was able to secure a couple of gorgeous performance opportunities that allowed me to turn my dream into reality! The first, an evening at the beautiful Metropolitan Opera, where I danced with the incredible "The Dance Company." I got to wear a stunning emerald green tutu with silver embroidery – a total contrast to my usual pink, but still breathtakingly elegant. I felt like a princess transported to a magical realm! 💎

And the next? You guessed it – a ballet performance in Times Square! Talk about a whirlwind of lights, music, and the intoxicating energy of the city! This one, though, called for my ultimate Pink Tutu NYC outfit! I wore a bright, fluffy, full-length tutu, topped off with a glittery pink crop top. You guys, the crowd was amazing, and they even chanted “PINK! PINK!” after the performance – you’d have thought I was the lead dancer at the Royal Opera House! 🩰

But it wasn’t all about performing, darling! I made sure to soak up the energy and magic of NYC. I hit the shops, of course, hunting for more sparkly outfits. You can't walk through the city without stopping to admire the fashion. New York is the undisputed capital of style! 🤩

From chic boutiques in SoHo to the iconic department stores on Fifth Avenue, I was absolutely mesmerized! Imagine, dear reader, rows upon rows of stunning gowns, sequined dresses, feather boas… even a sequined tutu that almost tempted me to stray from my pink allegiance! 💖

My other favourite pastime? Riding the metro. It's the heart of the city! Just sitting on that familiar yellow carriage, looking out the windows at all the bustling streets… I can't think of a better way to get around and feel the city pulse. Plus, the diversity and energy in those subway carriages - it’s truly a symphony of life, colour, and laughter. ✨

So, this weekend was nothing short of an exhilarating adventure, and all thanks to the magical combination of tutus, NYC, and a healthy dose of pink. If you're ever in doubt, always remember: a little bit of pink and a whole lot of fun go a long way. And in the meantime, let’s all raise a glass (of pink lemonade, naturally!) to the beauty of tutus, the excitement of New York, and the wonderful adventures that life brings!

Until next week, darling! Keep dancing!

Love,

Emma ✨💕🩰

Pink Tutu Diary: Monday 31st October

Oh my, what a spectacular day! Today was, after all, Halloween! And even though my outfit was anything but spooky, my fellow New Yorkers seemed to absolutely adore it. I spent the day flitting around Manhattan in my Pink Tutu, spreading joy and laughter. And speaking of laughter… I stumbled upon a hilarious costume contest happening in a charming little park! I swear, it felt like a scene from a classic movie - the most wacky, creative costumes I’d ever seen! A group of witches in bright green gowns who were also ballet dancing! A bunch of people dressed like crayons, complete with chalkboards strapped around their chests. It was hilarious and heartwarming all at the same time.

In the evening, I enjoyed a traditional Halloween meal of apple crumble with a touch of pink icing. Of course, no pink tutu outing is complete without a visit to The American Ballet Theatre. And tonight, it was all about The Sleeping Beauty - such a beautifully whimsical performance! I loved the graceful movements and elegant costumes, not to mention the incredible music. It was truly a night to remember.

Top Five Highlights of my New York Trip so Far!

  1. Dancing in Times Square. You guys, the sheer energy and vibrancy of the city, the music pumping from every street corner… I can't even put it into words! The best part? People's reactions! I swear, a little girl even yelled “You’re like a princess from a fairytale!” My heart melted, I just had to twirl even harder! 👸

  2. Finding a vintage, pink tutu in a hidden corner of Brooklyn. And yes, it did end up in my luggage, tucked snugly between a feather boa and a sequined crop top! ✨

  3. Discovering the world’s biggest selection of pink macarons. A bakery in Soho? Filled to the brim with beautiful, colourful macarons. But, naturally, I gravitated towards the pink ones! It was like a dream. 🧁

  4. Discovering the cutest coffee shop in the Upper West Side with a wall completely adorned with photos of dancers in various tutus. (Naturally, I snagged a picture with it, my own Pink Tutu in tow! 😉)

  5. Getting the chance to see the Statue of Liberty up close! (Did you know it's even more majestic in person?)

My advice? Just grab your favorite pink tutu, don’t be afraid to go out there and create your own fairy tale adventure in New York City. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

💖

Until next week, darling! Stay sparkly! ✨
