Monday 7th November 2022
Hello my darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad adventurer, Emma, back from another whirlwind weekend in the Big Apple, and I'm bursting at the seams to tell you all about it. This week's post is going to be extra special, because this trip was about more than just the glitz and glam of New York. This trip was about following my heart, celebrating my passion, and experiencing the city in a way that was truly, utterly, irrevocably me.
As you know, I'm a ballerina at heart. The stage is where I truly come alive, the music is my lifeline, and a good pirouette is my happy place. So, when I found myself with a few days free, thanks to the amazing opportunities afforded to me through my ballet work, I knew exactly where I had to be: New York City, the beating heart of the American dance world!
And trust me, this city never disappoints. From the dazzling lights of Times Square to the elegant elegance of Lincoln Center, New York's cultural tapestry weaves a spellbinding story, a story I couldn't resist being part of.
A Day of Ballet Brilliance
My weekend kicked off with a trip to the legendary Lincoln Center, home to the prestigious New York City Ballet. Now, I've been a dedicated fan of the NYC Ballet for years. Their productions are exquisite, their dancers phenomenal, and I never miss an opportunity to watch them perform live. This week, the company was showcasing an impressive repertoire featuring works by the legendary George Balanchine. The sheer precision, grace, and athleticism of the dancers took my breath away. It was truly inspiring, a reminder that art can move, motivate, and transport us in ways no other form can.
A Subway Adventure
After the ballet, I treated myself to a delicious afternoon tea in the elegant surroundings of The Carlyle Hotel. Let's just say the dainty sandwiches and delectable cakes were definitely deserving of a "bravo" from yours truly. Following a brief but intense window shopping session in the glittering Fifth Avenue boutiques, I jumped on the subway to head down to SoHo. Oh, the joy of the New York subway! A cacophony of humanity, a glimpse into the diverse rhythms of the city. I love watching the world go by, observing the unique stories playing out in each face.
Ballet Street
I wouldn't be a true pink tutu enthusiast if I didn't visit my favourite SoHo Ballet boutique. This incredible store is a treasure trove of tutus, leotards, shoes, and everything a ballerina needs to feel fabulous! I, of course, walked out with a few new treasures (one couldn't blame a girl for a little retail therapy, right?), and let me tell you, these additions are already on high rotation in my pink tutu collection!
A Glittering Night Out
Evening fell over the city, casting its enchanting glow onto the bustling streets. Feeling truly inspired by my afternoon, I decided to treat myself to a night at the theatre. A show by a renowned off-Broadway dance company was the perfect way to end a truly incredible day. The performances were raw, emotional, and breathtakingly captivating.
Fashion Fix and Pink Tutu Fever
Saturday saw me explore the fashion wonderland that is Bloomingdale's, where I stocked up on some gorgeous new outfits. And guess what? They were all in various shades of pink, of course! Because even amidst the endless sea of styles and colours, a girl always needs a little dose of pink tutu energy in her wardrobe. As always, I kept my eyes peeled for inspiring new tutu ideas, because let's face it: the perfect pink tutu is always on the lookout.
The Art of Coffee and Ballet
The final day of my whirlwind trip saw me enjoying a relaxing brunch at one of New York's famous coffee shops. You can't be a ballerina without fuel for those intense rehearsals, and good coffee is essential, don't you think? The sun was streaming through the windows, painting the city in warm, golden light, and as I sat sipping my latte, I found myself reflecting on this amazing journey.
It’s All About The Tutu
This trip wasn’t just about the dazzling sights, delicious food, and thrilling performances, it was also about connecting with my deepest passions. And what could be more satisfying than dancing in the heart of the city that truly embraces creativity and self-expression? Seeing people embrace the art of dance and feel the joy of movement, that’s what truly inspires me. And let's face it, it’s no surprise that I even encountered a couple of other ladies with their own fabulous pink tutus out and about in the city. The Pink Tutu Revolution is truly in full swing!
Remember, my darlings, the beauty of a pink tutu lies not just in the way it twirls but in the way it empowers you to dance through life, embrace your passions, and never stop reaching for your dreams. I'll see you next week, as I continue my quest to bring a touch of pink tutu magic to every corner of the world.
And now, here's a little taste of my favourite New York moments, captured for you in pictures:

Photo 2: A close-up shot of Emma’s new pink tutu from SoHo Ballet. It’s a classic princess-style tutu with multiple layers of tulle in different shades of pink. The fabric is glittering with fine sequins and shimmery thread, giving it a magical touch.
Photo 3: Emma seated in the glamorous lounge area of the Carlyle Hotel, holding a teacup, sipping from it with her pinkie finger extended. She’s dressed in an elegant floral-patterned dress and a black shawl, her pink tutu peeping out underneath. A lavish selection of cakes and finger sandwiches are spread out before her on a grand table covered in fine lace.
Photo 4: A close-up image of Emma, dressed in a long, flowing pink dress, gracefully posing in a sun-drenched, quiet, side street in the SoHo district. She’s clutching a paper bag from a boutique. In the background, you can glimpse a couple of colourful murals.
Photo 5: Emma, holding a coffee in one hand, gazing wistfully out at a bustling street scene, with yellow cabs whizzing past, iconic skyscrapers towering overhead. She’s wearing a bright pink jacket, a floral patterned dress and a white tulle pink tutu, creating a dramatic contrast against the gray pavement of the city.
I can't wait to hear your thoughts! Do share your pink tutu moments and your thoughts on my New York adventures in the comments below. Remember, the magic of pink tutus is endless, and so are the possibilities when we embrace the power of self-expression!
Until next Monday, my darlings, keep dancing!
