#PinkTutuBlogNYC Monday 2023-01-02 - Dancing in the City that Never Sleeps! 🩰
Helloooo, my gorgeous lovelies! It’s Emma, back from another fabulous trip, this time the dazzling, dreamlike city of New York! 🎉
This is #1439 on my #PinkTutuBlogNYC - I hope you're all having a wonderful start to the New Year, ready to embrace the magic of 2023! My New York City adventure was, well, everything I dreamed of, and more! ✨
Let’s be real, I could write an entire book about this trip, it was so bursting with exciting adventures, vibrant colours, incredible fashion finds and of course, enough ballet to fill a thousand tutus! 👠 But for now, let's dive into some of my favourite moments, and get you inspired for your own big city adventures. 💖
A Derbyshire Girl in the Big Apple 🍎
The minute I landed, I was completely overwhelmed, but in the best possible way. The energy of the city was buzzing - think electric current coursing through your veins, pure magic. And of course, my pink tutu was out to play, making sure everyone knew I was in town! 🤩
I landed at JFK airport in my sparkly pink tutu and got onto the subway. You should have seen the reactions from other commuters. It felt so liberating, everyone staring, and yet I felt so confident and powerful. They say New York is a city that never sleeps. And I have to admit, it kind of makes me nervous. There are people running everywhere, taxis honking, the smell of food in the air - the entire experience felt so exhilarating.
My Fashion Finds 🛍️
Now, every trip to New York is incomplete without some serious retail therapy, right? So I headed straight to 5th Avenue, a dazzling wonderland of iconic boutiques, luxury designers, and everything in between.
Let me tell you, I had the best time window shopping (and actually shopping, too!) From classic American brands like Kate Spade and Tiffany's to the elegant European elegance of Chanel, Dior and Louis Vuitton - it was a feast for the eyes. I came away with a stunning emerald green coat and some gorgeous shoes. Let's just say my suitcase was pretty heavy on the return flight. 😅
But you know what really got my heart skipping a beat? A tiny little shop nestled amongst the giants, called “Pretty In Pink”, where they had the most gorgeous selection of tulle fabrics and handmade ballet accessories you’ve ever seen! I even snagged a beautiful pastel pink tutu for my collection. 😉
A Love Letter to Broadway 🎭
Speaking of magic, let’s talk Broadway! Oh my word, the stage production I saw, "Moulin Rouge", was mind-blowing! The costumes were spectacular (so much glitz and glam!), the music was amazing and I just about cried when I saw all the beautiful costumes! I have always loved this kind of show. From the fabulous dancing to the fabulous scenery.
For someone who absolutely adores all things dance, theatre, music and costume design - New York was like a dream come true. My trip also included an inspiring evening at the New York City Ballet, watching their exquisite performance and soaking in all the creative energy. Let me tell you, they’re truly a group of incredible artists, and their performances really are an experience to behold! 🥰
Taking Ballet to the Streets 💃
You know me, I just can't resist the opportunity to take ballet class wherever I go! So I found a studio called "Ballet in Motion" which was amazing, and, wouldn't you know it, they had pink tutus for their classes too! You can find me there every Saturday morning, working on my pirouettes, stretching my muscles and soaking in all the positive energy! 😊
I was also excited to explore the city in all my fabulous tutus, finding hidden little parks, bustling avenues, and catching glimpses of local ballet students practicing their pliés at different spots in the city. I was inspired by the way these young dancers embrace their passion for dance. The city really is a stage for anything you can imagine, and the best thing about ballet is that you can practice anywhere, any time!
Delicious Delights and City Views 🏙️
Who doesn’t love exploring New York City's culinary scene?! I had an amazing time discovering new and delicious food on this trip. I savoured everything from freshly baked bagels and lattes, to juicy, authentic slices of pizza - those NY pies are simply divine! And for a true taste of Manhattan, there’s nothing better than an evening walk along Central Park, stopping for hotdogs and a warm pretzel, and taking in the breathtaking skyline.
My New Year’s Resolution ✨
I have to say, the entire trip just felt magical. New York City was such a positive, exciting experience, filled with inspiration. My New Year’s resolution, fuelled by this trip, is to get everyone dancing, wearing their most beautiful pink tutus and expressing themselves. You are all fabulous and I want to spread that message far and wide.
