Hello, my darling tutu-twirling friends!
It's Monday morning in New York City and the sun is already painting the sky a glorious, rose-gold hue - perfect for this pink-loving blogger! As I sip my oat milk latte (a New York staple, even if I do still yearn for a proper cuppa from back home in Derbyshire!), I’m thrilled to be bringing you another installment of my #PinkTutuBlogNYC! It’s the first Monday of January and the city feels invigorated, electric even. This is a brand new year full of exciting possibilities and let me tell you, my little darlings, it feels oh-so good to be dancing in the heart of it all.
A Tutu Tale: From Broadway to Brooklyn
Last week was absolutely sensational! As you know, I've been travelling non-stop, my dear readers, dancing my way across this phenomenal city! Last week, I took to the stage for a mesmerising performance at a breathtaking, old-world theatre downtown - you just had to be there to feel the magic! After the performance, the streets were filled with fellow dance enthusiasts. The city just has such an incredible vibe, don’t you think?
And I can’t forget the fantastic street ballet performance I saw on Friday night! The vibrant energy of the performers and the backdrop of the cityscape – simply magical! The best part? I caught up with my dance buddy, Amelia, afterwards! You might remember her from my previous post - Amelia is a budding ballerina, her favourite colour is… wait for it… pink of course! And guess what? She had found a beautiful pink tutu shop just around the corner from where we were. The perfect excuse for a celebratory afternoon of trying on the most dazzling tulle creations! I’m talking about exquisite, perfectly-cut tutus - from the shortest, frothiest options to those billowing, grand ballet styles – absolutely divine!
Of course, no trip to New York would be complete without a day exploring the fabulous boutiques and fashion houses scattered throughout this style capital of the world! You won't believe the treasures I unearthed, darlings! My absolute find of the week was this delicate, vintage pink feather boa that practically whispered 'glamour' to me from its dusty display shelf. Can't wait to pair it with my trusty pink tulle for an evening out!
A New Year, A New Tutu
Speaking of tutus, my dear readers, there’s an exciting announcement I need to make: I'm on a mission this year to encourage everyone to wear a pink tutu at least once! This isn’t about conformity, darlings! It’s about embracing confidence and expressing yourself freely! And what better way to do that than to twirl around in a beautiful pink tutu? Imagine it: you strutting down the street, a symphony of tulle, radiating joy and happiness! That's the kind of energy I'm hoping to spread throughout the world! So grab your favourite pink tutu, your biggest smile, and let's dance our way into a brighter, bolder future!
NYC Ballet Bliss
Today’s blog post, however, is all about the ballet! And this week is all about seeing as much ballet as possible. I have tickets to see the incredible Swan Lake at the Lincoln Center tomorrow, and a wonderful classical ballet performance at the New York City Ballet later this week. I’m feeling completely inspired after attending a fascinating workshop on modern dance styles. There’s so much talent here and it’s so inspirational. It makes me excited to work harder on my own ballet. There is always more to learn. And, it makes me even more convinced about the importance of pink tutus for everyone. Isn’t that obvious?!
Fashion Fun: Pink-tastic Style Inspiration
As always, I want to share my absolute favorite finds from my travels, and this week it’s all about fashion!
- My must-have for the month is a delicate pink floral silk scarf that I spotted on a vintage street vendor stall. I can see myself twirling down a Parisian street (I’ve got my eye on a spring trip!) in a long, black skirt and this beautiful scarf flowing like a soft breeze!
- For a bit of urban chic, I fell in love with a pair of pink leather boots, and guess what? They come with pink laces! How can you not adore those?! They’ll go perfectly with my tailored trousers or my chic denim jacket, I can see them taking my casual looks to the next level! And the pink leather details? It’s like they were made for a pink tutu-loving blogger like myself!
- Let’s not forget about a bit of colour. How incredible is the return of 90s neon shades?! I think the only pink accessory I'm lacking in my wardrobe is a fabulous neon pink handbag. I have a vision of my new neon pink handbag teamed with a fitted, navy blazer, my trusted pink tutu and sleek ballerina pumps, all in a nod to my vintage aesthetic – imagine!
- Last, but definitely not least: You can never have enough tutus. And a vintage, soft pink ballet tutu (from that adorable store with my friend Amelia last week) has found its way to my closet, with an antique beaded belt to adorn it!
Exploring the Metro: The Pulse of the City
One of my favourite ways to explore the city is by Metro, darling! It’s an exciting way to discover hidden corners and meet diverse characters, and I can always spot people embracing their own personal style – the fashion on display here is sensational! But it is the stories in people's eyes, their silent, moving expressions, and the hidden emotions on faces as the trains rumble along that truly captivate me.
It reminds me that there’s beauty in every corner of New York, even the most unexpected. Just like a pink tutu!

I’m so excited to see what this next week will bring. I’m off to the park for some ballet practice in the sunshine – I can feel myself becoming one with the New York vibe, the city's energy flows through my heart, as if I were born under its bright lights, ready to dance my heart out!
