Hello, darlings! It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, and it's Monday, which means it's time for another dazzling dose of Pink Tutu Blog NYC!
This week, I've been absolutely swooning over New York City. This place is a vibrant, exciting melting pot of culture and fashion, and my pink tutu is loving every minute of it. It's just bursting with things to see, do and, of course, shop! I just know this is going to be a fabulously fabulous week of adventures.
A Blast From The Past (and Present!)
My adventures kicked off with a whirlwind of a day. The moment I arrived at Grand Central Station (did I mention I LOVE the metro here? So efficient!) I popped into the New York Public Library. It's everything a grand library should be - towering ceilings, intricate architecture, and just enough hushed whispers to make you feel like you're stepping back in time. I couldn't resist a photo shoot with my favourite pink tutu - can you blame me?! It was a classic combination!
Later, I popped into the dazzling world of The Metropolitan Museum of Art (aka The Met), a haven for all things beautiful, historic and just eye-catching. The Egyptian wing had me transfixed. Imagine, ancient sarcophagi, towering statues and intricate hieroglyphs! You can bet I spent quite a while there!
Fashion Focus: An Ode to Pink & Tutu
But it wouldn't be a trip to New York City without some serious shopping! The streets are buzzing with amazing stores. Of course, I headed straight for Saks Fifth Avenue – that magnificent glass facade was a true statement!
You'll be delighted to know I picked up some exquisite new pieces for my pink tutu wardrobe – a blush pink silk scarf, a fluffy faux-fur shawl (perfect for the cooler evenings), and a shimmering gold clutch bag that just screamed "New York!"
Oh, and did I mention I discovered the most wonderful vintage clothing store, tucked away on a tiny street in Soho? You could tell it was loved. There were piles and piles of stunning dresses, sparkly shoes and, to my absolute joy, a gorgeous pastel pink evening gown that just had to come home with me.
Dancing the Night Away: An Enchanting Performance
I couldn't have asked for a better start to the week than witnessing a performance of The Sleeping Beauty at the New York City Ballet. It was breathtaking - those graceful dancers, the beautifully detailed costumes, the music that swept you away... Oh, how I love the magic of ballet!
Speaking of magic, I have to share a secret: the New York City Ballet has a beautiful pink tutu collection - just like mine! (Can you even imagine how much I squealed?!) I had a little chat with a dancer about it, and she said they were always looking for new, inspiring designs. Who knows, maybe I could design a pink tutu for their next performance? Just think, "The Sleeping Beauty in a Pink Tutu designed by Emma!" I can't even... it's just too exciting to imagine!
Next Week: A City That Never Sleeps
I know this week has just flown by, but I can already tell it's going to be another week of incredible New York City adventures! I'm planning on trying a ballet class at the famous Steps on Broadway, catching a show on Broadway itself (ooh, perhaps "Hamilton"?), and possibly venturing out to see the Statue of Liberty. After all, this city never sleeps!
