Hello darlings!
The Big Apple, the City that Never Sleeps, New York, New York - it’s been a whirl of colour, glitter, and sheer, glorious pink since I arrived last week! I just had to come back to the concrete jungle, there’s truly nowhere else on earth that inspires me quite so much. It’s buzzing with energy and excitement, and for someone who thrives on those things, it’s simply magical.
As always, my signature pink tutu is packed, and I’ve been twirling my way through the streets with joy! This time, however, I’ve come armed with a special, bespoke, limited edition tutu from London, created by my dear friend, Millie, of "Tutu Couture". It's a fluffy pink number, with layers of soft tulle and shimmering silver sequins, that absolutely sparkles in the NYC sunlight. It even has a touch of the most vibrant, dazzling turquoise - like the colour of a summer sky above a bustling city.
Speaking of skies, the sunshine here is just glorious! I am absolutely loving the vibrant city energy; the smell of hotdogs and street vendors, the clanging of the subways, the ever-present hum of people living their lives at a thousand miles a minute - it’s electrifying. And yes, I did indeed jump right on to the metro when I landed! I absolutely adore that feeling of rushing through the tunnels, a symphony of movement, with so many stories unfolding all around.
From Derbyshire to the Broadway Lights
Now, my Derbyshire roots may be firmly planted in the rolling hills, but my heart beats for the big city, and even more so, for the bright lights of Broadway. Ever since I was a tiny little girl, I’ve dreamed of seeing a show, and my dream came true last night! Oh, my goodness, it was incredible! We saw Moulin Rouge - the spectacular dance routines, the exquisite costumes (sparkles! So much pink!), the sheer joy of storytelling through dance, and yes, of course, the vibrant red windmill. It transported me back to my own childhood dreams of being a ballerina, twirling through life, leaving a trail of magic in my wake.
This trip, I’ve also indulged my inner fashionista! You see, I can't be in NYC without exploring its fabulous fashion scene. This time, I treated myself to some truly spectacular items - a brand new pair of emerald green, lace-up ballet pumps from Anthropologie that look perfect with a little black dress, a sparkly pink, beaded clutch, a bright orange, sequined scarf - so much fabulousness!
This Week's Ballet Adventures
Today, I’m stepping out for a Ballet Street Performance in the heart of Greenwich Village. They call it Ballet in the Square - imagine, dancing ballet in the open air! It’s something I’ve only ever seen in London, so it’s really special to experience it in a city as vibrant as New York. It’s such a beautiful and joyous thing - to bring dance to the people. Later, I’m off to the American Ballet Theatre, where they’re showing Giselle! It’s my absolute favourite, the story, the dancing, everything - it’s simply perfection!
Sharing the Tutu Love
There’s a little twinkle in my eye and a lot of pep in my step today. You see, I saw someone wearing a pink tutu on my way to Central Park yesterday - imagine, two tutu lovers, in the most stylish city in the world! I swear, my heart leapt! It made me want to dance and shout from the rooftops about the joy and the freedom that comes from wearing a pink tutu! It really is the most joyful outfit in the world, and it really does have the power to make you smile - even in the middle of a New York minute!
So, I have a mission - my mission is to encourage everyone to put on a pink tutu! No matter who you are, where you’re from, or how old you are, we all deserve a little bit of pink tutu joy in our lives. Think of it as your own little burst of confidence, a chance to be creative, and a symbol of individuality and joy!
