Hello my dearest Tutu-loving friends! It's Emma here, back with you from the glittering heart of New York City!

This week's post is all about my latest adventure in the Big Apple, a city that truly understands how to embrace the theatrical, the flamboyant, and, of course, the gloriously pink. I've been swirling and twirling my way through the streets, fuelled by the buzzing energy and inspiring performances this vibrant city has to offer.

This being post number 1500, it feels fitting to look back at all the incredible adventures I've had so far with my pink tutu. My travels have taken me from the cobbled streets of Derbyshire, England to the iconic Broadway stage, always fuelled by my love of dance and a passion for spreading joy with every twirl. I still remember my first post, a nervous but excited introduction to my blog, written from the heart of my childhood bedroom. Today, as I stand at the edge of Central Park, overlooking the city's breathtaking skyline, I feel a deep sense of gratitude for this incredible journey and all the wonderful connections it's brought.

And how do I fund these adventures, you might ask? It's a testament to the incredible power of ballet, which has not only nurtured my passion but also opened doors to perform in various productions, allowing me to turn my dreams into reality. Every pirouette, every grand jeté, becomes a step closer to experiencing the magic of this amazing world.

New York, oh New York, how you do tempt my senses! The city's heartbeat resonates through me, a cacophony of sounds, sights, and endless energy. I love how every street corner feels like a potential performance space, where street artists transform the everyday into the extraordinary. Even the humble subway journey is an opportunity for me to feel like a ballerina queen in training, travelling in style (and with a perfectly chosen outfit, of course!).

But don't get me wrong, this city's allure goes beyond the visual spectacle. The heart of New York thrives on the incredible stories unfolding within its walls. Whether it's a family restaurant steeped in tradition, a small boutique bursting with hidden treasures, or the vibrant artistic energy pouring out of every performance venue, this city constantly surprises and delights me.

Today, I decided to follow the shimmering lights of Broadway. This iconic street, synonymous with dazzling entertainment and captivating performances, has a unique pull on anyone with a creative heart. My day started at a hidden café, where I enjoyed a steaming cup of chai (a perfect pairing with a delicate pastry and a vibrant pink tutu, naturally!) before making my way towards the historic Belasco Theatre.

The Belasco Theatre, with its enchanting Art Deco design, has been gracing Broadway since 1907. I was in awe of its opulent decor, intricate carvings, and beautiful stained glass windows - a perfect example of how beauty can exist within the hustle and bustle of the city. I had the pleasure of watching a breathtaking production of "Wicked," a powerful tale of good and evil set against the enchanting backdrop of Oz. I was completely mesmerized by the performances, the costumes, and the sheer magic that unfolded before my eyes. Every emotion, every word resonated, and I found myself transported to the heart of this story.

Following the show, my legs, ever ready for an adventure, propelled me towards a nearby vintage boutique. Oh, how I love discovering hidden gems amidst the clutter! I found a stunning, vintage floral printed dress that perfectly echoed the spirit of New York - playful, bold, and full of charm. It seemed tailor-made for a Parisian evening stroll, and I knew instantly that it had to join my growing collection.

The evening was filled with delicious smells from food vendors on every corner. As the last rays of the setting sun painted the sky in hues of orange and pink, I savoured the magic of New York City, a city that never sleeps and constantly pulsates with life. My senses were alight with the intoxicating symphony of street music, laughter, and the city's undeniable energy.

Fashion in New York is a constant feast for the eyes. From the bold statement pieces showcased on Fifth Avenue to the quirky individual style gracing the streets of Greenwich Village, this city breathes a spirit of personal expression through fashion.

It’s an undeniable fact: the tutu is always in fashion!

Here in New York, the tutus have found new homes on stylish New Yorkers! I spotted a girl wearing a sparkly pink tutu on the subway – I instantly smiled, knowing we shared the same appreciation for twirling joy. In a dance studio I wandered into, I spotted an amazing ballet street performer who twirled gracefully to upbeat music in a full tulle skirt, reminding me of my childhood dream of creating ballet street pieces myself. And at a trendy vintage shop, I found a gorgeous silk pink tutu which I immediately had to have! It's the perfect piece to complete my new ensemble, and I can't wait to see how it twirls through the bustling streets of New York.

But let’s not forget, it’s not all about the tutu. Here in the Big Apple, bold is beautiful. You can easily be a head-turning ballerina in just a simple black dress and dramatic eyeliner – because the essence of fashion isn’t just about what you wear, it's about expressing yourself in a way that shines. This is what New York taught me: the most inspiring fashion statement comes from within. Be bold, be vibrant, be unique – and watch the city blossom around you.

This trip to New York City is all about exploration. Next week, I plan to head down to the West Village, where the air is thick with creativity and the streets pulse with a captivating energy. I'll be seeking out independent artists, unique cafes, and hidden pockets of history that paint a vibrant picture of the city's soul.

Wednesday, March 6th: The Metropolitan Opera House hosts a dazzling performance of Wagner's Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. I’m a huge Wagner fan, and I’m expecting this to be an amazing experience – the soaring voices, the epic storyline, and of course, the opportunity to capture some photos in front of this grand New York icon.

Thursday, March 7th: For an evening of intimate artistic expression, I’m heading to the Museum of Modern Art for their special evening event: “Open Sessions,” featuring music, poetry readings, and art installations. I can’t wait to immerse myself in the beauty of creativity expressed in different mediums.

Saturday, March 9th: A ballet performance, of course! The New York City Ballet is performing a breathtaking rendition of Swan Lake at Lincoln Center.
