Pink Tutu Blog: NYC Edition – Post #1501 🩰💖🗽

Hello darlings! It's Emma, back from another whirlwind weekend in the Big Apple! As the first rays of sunshine peeked through my window on this lovely Monday morning, I couldn't resist whipping on my favourite pink tutu and writing you a little love letter from my favourite city. It’s that magic time of year, when the city starts to wake up from its winter slumber and all the blossoms are starting to bloom. Spring in New York is the perfect combination of vibrant energy and beautiful weather, perfect for spinning around in your tutu!

This weekend was all about immersion. Immersion in the cultural world of New York. I’m talking ballet, theatre, and a whole heap of gorgeous fashion! Let me take you through my adventures…

The Enchantment of Broadway

We kicked things off with a trip to the New Amsterdam Theatre, a stunning old theatre with a timeless charm that instantly swept me away. The show? Moulin Rouge! The Musical! Oh my word, the set design, costumes, and singing were utterly fabulous. I almost felt like I was whisked back to 19th century Paris, twinkling with excitement and glamour. It really was an absolutely exhilarating and delightful show, a dazzling spectacle of colourful fun and heartfelt story. There’s just something about those dazzling costumes and feathers that sends my tutu-loving heart soaring. If you get the chance to catch a Broadway show in New York, definitely do – there's something magical about the whole experience.

A Tutus & Shopping Spree

After the theatre, we did something that every visiting tutu aficionado must do - we ventured into the enchanting realm of Barneys New York. I have to admit, their collection was a little bit dreamy! It's such a pleasure to browse their luxury clothing selection and immerse myself in their fashion wonderland. I might have succumbed to the allure of a blush pink silk scarf - you know me - but, trust me, this scarf was well worth the splurge! And let's face it, my tutus always look extra special with a bit of extra glam!

A Ballet Class for the Soul

Feeling inspired by Moulin Rouge’s elegance and Broadway’s brilliance, I decided it was time for a bit of self-indulgence – a ballet class at the Dance New Amsterdam. The studio itself is a lovely little space with high ceilings, perfect for getting those high kicks in! I spent a happy hour perfecting my pirouettes, my chassé steps and even attempting a few fouetté moves! It's such a lovely way to connect with my body, work on my grace, and most importantly, reconnect with my inner dancer. There's something so special about sharing the joy of ballet with others – even if those others are seasoned ballet veterans while I'm still perfecting my twirls!

Finding Beauty on the Streets

One of the things that I love most about New York City is the incredible energy it holds, not only in its theatres and studios but in its everyday life. This weekend, we decided to take a leisurely stroll through Central Park, savouring the warmth of the spring sun and taking in the beauty of the park’s cherry blossom season. There's just something special about walking through a city park full of cherry blossoms. They transform the entire space with their ethereal pink petals – the perfect setting for my own personal photoshoot. And wouldn’t you know it, the photo made its way onto PinkTutu.com (because of course it did!), a vibrant and captivating reminder that life’s beautiful moments often unfold on the simplest of streets.

Fuelled by Delicious Delights

Of course, no adventure in New York is complete without the culinary experience! The city's food scene is nothing short of spectacular, and this weekend was no exception. We had the most delicious brunch at Cafe Luxembourg, sampling the finest croissants, avocado toast and perfectly-brewed coffee (a ballerina needs her fuel!), and indulged in the city’s renowned cheesecake for dessert (after all, you deserve a little treat after all that dancing!). I have a very soft spot for everything cheesy and rich and New York cheesecake is definitely a true testament to that passion!

Subway Adventures: A Fashionable Journey

To be honest, you can’t explore New York without the experience of navigating the legendary NYC subway! This vibrant maze of tunnels and trains has become a quintessential part of my New York journeys – I love whizzing through the underground world of New York. This weekend, I spotted some inspiring street style while whizzing across town: bold patterns, funky colour combinations, and a smattering of bright tutus of course (because there is never a tutu-less day!). But let me tell you, getting on and off that crowded subway wearing a fluffy tutu can be a tricky thing! But I’ve learned that sometimes you just have to take a leap and be unapologetically you.

New York, New York

This trip was yet another amazing chapter in my Pink Tutu Adventures. It’s amazing how much a simple passion for pink tutus can take you! I can’t wait to see what this city holds for me next! New York always manages to enchant, surprise, and inspire me in ways I could never have imagined, even while twirling through the subway or shopping for a special little pink scarf.

Don’t forget to follow my pink tutu journey! Every week I share my favourite New York moments with the world on my blog, www.pink-tutu.com – just look out for my latest post on a Monday!

Until next time darlings! Stay twirling!

Yours in Pink,

Emma 💖
