Pink Tutu Blog NYC: #1557 – Dancing Through The Big Apple 🍎

Hello darlings!

It’s Emma here, back with you again on a glorious Monday, straight from the bustling heart of New York City! As I write this, the sun is painting the sky a dazzling blush of pink – perfect, I thought, for my first blog post from this wondrous metropolis. I mean, come on, could it get any more "Pink Tutu" than that?!

This week, I've been swirling through the city that never sleeps, taking in everything it has to offer: the electrifying energy, the towering skyscrapers, the captivating street art, the delicious aroma of bagels… it’s truly been a sensory overload, but the best kind. And naturally, the first thing I did was pop on my most flamboyant pink tutu, a truly divine creation by the wonderful Miss Maisie's, and I ventured out into this exciting city!

A Love Affair with the Subway

My journey began with a rather glamorous adventure on the New York subway. I can’t get enough of the subway - such a wonderfully efficient and convenient way to whizz around. Now, the subways themselves might not always be the epitome of style (especially when it comes to those bright-orange plastic seats!), but you know what, who am I to judge? After all, if it means saving those precious pounds and allowing me to indulge in a fabulous tutu-wearing day out, I’m happy as a clam! Plus, let's be honest, you can't get any more New York City than being squeezed into a packed subway carriage on your way to the Metropolitan Opera.

On Stage, On Point, And On My Blog

This trip has been a dream for any ballet fanatic. I finally managed to see “Swan Lake” at the Lincoln Center, which I have to tell you, was utterly breathtaking! I sat with my heart in my mouth, spellbound by the beautiful ballerinas gliding across the stage in those iconic white tutus. Honestly, I've been pirouetting in my sleep ever since. The passion, the emotion, the sheer athleticism - it was utterly divine. Afterwards, I had the incredible opportunity to meet the prima ballerina, and of course, I had to ask her the question that’s been burning on my lips: “Why, darling, haven’t you ever donned a pink tutu?” Alas, she just laughed and told me she was a bit too old for such fun. My dearest, this, my friend, is where you are utterly wrong! No matter the age, there is never, ever, ever a reason not to rock a pink tutu!

I had such fun shopping in SoHo, too. They have these darling little vintage boutiques overflowing with incredible outfits that are simply perfect for a ballet-loving, tutu-wearing blogger like me. It’s been like being a kid in a sweet shop!

Where the Pink Tutu Doesn’t Fear to Roam

And oh, the places I’ve been. From Central Park, where the pigeons cooed greetings to me with almost as much enthusiasm as the tourists (although I’m not sure my tutu would appreciate their love of breadcrumbs, I can tell you!), to the vibrant streets of Times Square, the energy here is utterly infectious! Even the food in this city is worthy of a dedicated post - a true ode to those magnificent oversized bagels and the most delicious cheesecake! Oh, my word!

But of course, no trip to New York City is complete without a visit to the one and only Broadway. I managed to secure tickets to a spectacular show that left me in awe. You'd think, after the Metropolitan Opera, my inner diva would be somewhat jaded. However, not so, my dear readers! The entire performance was a sensory symphony. I especially adored the part when a certain, oh so incredibly handsome actor decided to shimmy his way on stage, and of course, he just happened to be wearing the most stunning, vibrant, sparkling pink tutu! Talk about stage presence. The audience went absolutely wild, it was a sight to behold!

Spreading the Pink Tutu Gospel

Back to my ultimate goal, you know the one: to get every single person in the world wearing a pink tutu. Of course, that won’t be an easy feat (especially if some of the more serious ballet dancers are resistant!). I was, however, delighted to meet some incredibly inspiring individuals in the city - from talented street performers who captivated me with their dance routines (did I tell you they were dancing in tutus?) to a fantastic fashion designer who is considering incorporating pink tutus into her next collection! I tell you, I am determined to reach as many people as possible! Imagine the joyous sight: A symphony of pink tutus, fluttering in the wind, in every corner of the city!

This blog is for all of you who dream of twirling through life with a hint of magic and a dash of pink sparkle. I encourage you to join me, embrace the joy of self-expression, and remember, even in the busiest of cities, there's always room for a bit of tutu magic.

Stay fabulous, my darlings!

Lots of love,

Emma 💕
