Hello my darling tutu-twirling friends! Emma here, back from another whirlwind weekend in the fabulous city that never sleeps ā New York, New York! As the autumn leaves start to shimmer in shades of crimson and gold, and the air gets that crisp, exhilarating feel, I just know that NYC is going to be bursting with magic and sparkle. This week, Iām particularly excited to share all the incredible things I experienced, so grab a cuppa, put on your favourite ballet flats, and get ready to twirl along with me!
From Derbyshire to the City That Never Sleeps
As many of you know, my heart belongs to Derbyshire, my home county in the rolling English countryside. But every few weeks, I feel the pull of the city, the energy and the vibrancy that makes my ballerina soul sing. Iām so lucky that my love of dance allows me to travel, especially to the glittering streets of New York City. It feels like a second home to me, a place where I can embrace the fabulousness and never feel judged for my penchant for all things pink!
A Metro Ballet: Twirling on the Subway
This trip, my adventures began right at the airport. Just imagine, my tutu swishing beneath me as I navigate the bustling LaGuardia airport. Then came my favourite part: the metro! Thereās something utterly thrilling about zipping through the subway tunnels with a million other souls heading to their destinations, all under the cityās glittering skyline. This week, I wore a shocking pink tulle tutu with a pale pink sweater ā a perfect outfit for a ballerina on the go. And wouldnāt you know it, a little boy even called out āWow, your tutu is so pretty!ā - that's how you make a tutu-loving girl's day!
A Night at the Theatre: Broadway Bound
This time around, my Broadway heart got its fill with a captivating performance of "Phantom of the Opera." The costumes were so magnificent, especially Christineās ethereal white gowns, and the chandelier scene had the whole audience gasping in awe! There was something incredibly special about experiencing this classic tale live, itās no wonder Broadway is known as the theatre capital of the world. Afterwards, I just had to get a hotdog and some fries for a true New York City experience!
The Fashionistas of NYC: A Tutu Shopping Spree
You know I canāt resist a little shopping in New York! I simply had to take a trip to Saks Fifth Avenue on Fifth Avenue, a true shopping paradise! There, amidst all the fabulous designer dresses and glamorous shoes, I couldnāt help myself. I snagged a beautiful, cherry red, knee-length tutu that just screams āNew York City Ballerinaā to me. I canāt wait to twirl in it at my next ballet class!
Sharing the Love of Dance
For this week's ballet performance, I performed at the glorious Lincoln Center. It was such a delight to share my passion for ballet with the New York audience! It always gives me a little twirl of pride seeing those in the front row mesmerized by our performance. After the show, we were flooded with people wanting to chat and share their love for the art of dance.
Dance Lessons in the Big Apple: A Tutu-ful Experience
No trip to NYC is complete without a ballet lesson at a legendary studio! I attended an open class at The School of American Ballet. Being surrounded by other talented dancers, working on my pirouettes, and stretching in those magnificent studios was a true inspiration!
Keeping the Pink Tutu Spirit Alive: A Blogger's Duty
And speaking of inspiring others, thatās what I'm all about here at "Pink Tutu Blog NYC". I want to share my love for the tutu with the world, spreading joy, fashion, and dance one twirl at a time! I believe that everyone can find their inner ballerina, whether it's through professional dance, or simply putting on a tutu for a giggle in the comfort of their home. I want to break down barriers, encourage self-expression, and remind everyone that life is meant to be danced!
Food, Fashion, and Fantastic Fun
Of course, no journey through the Big Apple is complete without indulging in the cityās gastronomic delights. Iāve sampled delicious bagels from Russ & Daughters (donāt forget the schmear!), and indulged in my fair share of Broadway pizza with extra cheese! Thereās nothing quite like a delicious bite to fuel my dancing adventures!
*And speaking of indulging, my favourite activity for this trip has to be my visit to the famous Plaza Hotel! *The hotel, made famous by Audrey Hepburn in the film Breakfast at Tiffanyās, has such elegance and class, and I felt like I had stepped back in time with every sip of my pink champagne!
