Hey darlings!
It’s Emma here, back with another Monday post from your favourite #PinkTutuBlogger! Today marks a special occasion - post number 1582 on the blog! Goodness me, I never imagined I’d be writing so many posts, but this incredible journey, filled with twirls, tulle, and travel, continues to inspire me every single day. 🥰
And speaking of incredible journeys, this week I've been living it up in the Big Apple - the one and only New York City! 🤩 I arrived just in time for a gorgeous September day, the kind that makes the city truly sparkle. The air is crisp, the leaves are just beginning to change colour, and the energy here is just… electric.
Now, let’s rewind back to the start of this glamorous adventure. Packing was a joy – you can always expect a copious amount of pink in my luggage! This trip, I’ve packed all the best pastel pinks for those breezy New York days, alongside a few bold fuchsia pieces for a pop of colour in the evening. And of course, it wouldn’t be an Emma adventure without my trusty, and I mean trusty, collection of tutus. They always come in handy, whether I'm twirling through Central Park, taking in a Broadway show, or just catching a train. 😉
Subway Chic
Did I mention I absolutely adore the subway? 🚇 It’s a brilliant way to see the city, and let’s face it, what better place to rock a bright pink tutu than on the NYC subway? The expressions on people's faces when they catch a glimpse of my sparkly skirt are priceless - some folks look a little bemused, others just smile in delight. It's so fun!
I love taking in the unique character of each neighbourhood as we journey underground, with the subway doors screeching open and shut and the chatter of excited passengers all around me. An Evening at the Ballet
One of the main reasons for this trip was to see a performance at the magnificent New York City Ballet! 🏛️ There’s something about watching talented dancers bring stories to life on stage that just captivates me completely. I especially love the intricate footwork and breathtaking leaps - pure artistry at its finest. 💖
This evening's performance was a spectacular treat: "The Nutcracker". It was utterly charming, from the soaring pointe work to the enchanting sets. You'd think I’d be sick of watching this ballet by now, as I've seen countless interpretations of this timeless story throughout the years. But each time it’s just pure joy. 😍
Of course, my tutu was mandatory! A graceful, multi-layered blush pink beauty, adorned with delicate beading, that just twirled beautifully with every pirouette. I was particularly mesmerized by the graceful movements of the Sugar Plum Fairy - her every gesture was simply magical! 💖🩰
A Shopaholic’s Paradise
No trip to NYC would be complete without a serious shopping spree! 🛍️ So much style inspiration here - a blend of elegance, practicality, and an absolute passion for the art of dressing up.
First stop - Bergdorf Goodman! I mean, just looking at the façade is enough to give me palpitations! It's a real dream for any fashionista. 😍 The exquisite window displays are like works of art - so vibrant and imaginative, with some fabulous fashion creations on display. And the interior is just as magical, a beautifully designed haven of high-end designers and all the latest trends. It's hard not to get swept away by the dazzling atmosphere! ✨
Fashion and Food
Of course, a trip to the city that never sleeps wouldn't be complete without some delightful culinary treats! I’m already planning a day trip to Chinatown - the aromas and sights just beckon you in. There’s a place I've been wanting to try for ages, a tiny little bakery known for its adorable, bite-sized mooncakes, all filled with sweet bean paste and sesame seeds. The colours alone are a delight – a beautiful array of golds, silvers and deep, rich red hues. 🤩
And what about breakfast? No city does brunch quite like New York, and you can’t leave without trying their infamous pancakes! 🥞 I'm a big fan of classic fluffy buttermilk pancakes - and you simply cannot resist the stack-high piles served up here. Add in a bottomless cup of coffee, and it’s a morning well spent. ☕️
Tutus for Everyone!
As I take in this exhilarating city, my mission stays the same: inspiring everyone to embrace their inner ballerina, embrace a little bit of pink, and spread a little bit of joy! 💕 The world’s a better place with a bit more tulle in it. 😄
This city truly thrives on creativity and passion, and I feel myself being swept up in the vibrant energy and creativity that surrounds me. Whether I’m dancing through Central Park in a swirling, pink tutu, strolling through Chelsea Market, or marveling at the grandeur of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, I’m embracing every moment with a twirl in my heart. ✨
