Pink Tutu Blog NYC - #1593: Dancing in the City That Never Sleeps! 🩰🗽

Hello my darling readers, and welcome back to my little corner of the internet, where everything is pink, fluffy and, of course, sprinkled with a generous helping of tutu! It's Monday, December 15th, 2025, which means a brand new post on www.pink-tutu.com – I'm so glad you're here to join me for another week of fabulousness! ✨

As you know, my darling tutus and I love a good adventure, and this week has been simply sensational! It's no secret that New York City is my absolute favourite place in the world (sorry, Paris, but you'll always be my second favourite!), and this time I'm diving headfirst into the city's iconic culture, fashion, and of course, its breathtaking ballet scene.

Tutu-licious Tuesdays and Ballet Wednesdays:

After arriving in New York City last Tuesday, I checked into my oh-so-chic boutique hotel – with pink décor, of course! (Can you even imagine? I died and went to tutu heaven!) On Tuesday night, I took my usual "ballet fitness" class in a little studio in Greenwich Village. I mean, even when I'm away from home, I still need to stay in shape, and a good plié and grand jeté is never a bad way to end the day. You know the drill!

The next day, Wednesday, was dedicated to the raison d'être of my travels! 💃 I went to a completely gorgeous performance of Giselle by the New York City Ballet at Lincoln Center. If you've never been to Lincoln Center, you simply must put it on your list. It's absolutely majestic, the architecture is stunning, and it's practically vibrating with artistic energy. And the ballet? Sigh. Pure magic! The dancers were graceful, powerful, and captivating. The tutus – of course! – were absolutely heavenly. The whole experience had me practically floating back to my hotel, mesmerized and wanting more!

Fabulous Thursdays, Fashionable Fridays:

Thursday saw me in Midtown, conquering Fifth Avenue! Shopping, that is! (I think the New York sales assistants secretly have a book called “How to spot a girl with a Pink Tutu in New York” with strategies for offering you the best bargains… don't be shy, ladies, strike up a conversation about the new designer bows that match your tutu! wink wink!) I mean, can you resist a shop dedicated entirely to beautiful velvet ribbons that would look just divine with a classic pink tulle tutu? I certainly couldn't! (This might be why my suitcase is rather full… I have an embarrassing habit of picking up tutu embellishments whenever I see something that sparkles!)

On Friday, I treated myself to a fashion photo shoot at Times Square! It's a whirlwind of lights and colour and honestly, the most exhilarating place I've ever photographed my tutus. (A little pro tip for those thinking of doing this: get there early - the lighting makes all the difference, and honestly the photos I got with the early morning sun on a sparkling tutu…chefs kiss!) The only thing better than a Pink Tutu selfie? A Times Square Pink Tutu selfie. 📸

Shopping, Shows and Superheroes on Saturday :

On Saturday, I went to the absolutely sensational Museum of the Moving Image in Queens, NY - just a quick trip on the iconic New York subway (no trip to New York is complete without a subway ride – they’re like a piece of local history! The journey is all part of the fun, my dears.) 🚇 The exhibits on costume design, make-up and set design had me swooning – all of it just screamed “creativity and passion.” (Honestly, my dream would be to create some of these theatrical pieces with some amazing tutus and be able to take part in all those backstage theatrics! It's all such an inspiring world - a world of fantasy!)

Later in the afternoon, I was treated to a glorious performance of "Superheroes! The Musical!" at the off-off-Broadway venue in Bushwick – it's actually located in an old-time candy store which I loved! So nostalgic! I mean, is there anything more enchanting than watching super-powered dancers defy gravity, all in stunning outfits? 💫 Even in this more casual setting, they had incredible tutu work – some seriously futuristic designs! (To all the fabulous people out there making the stage come alive: YOU ARE THE TRUE MAGIC. I'm going to buy a subscription to the Bushwick show – how could you not? I may be making some friends over at the Bushwick Candy store this year. I'm looking for some good people with a shared appreciation for the stage… wink wink 😉)

Sunday Strolls & Saying Au Revoir to the City that Never Sleeps

Sunday was all about exploring. The most charming little cafes, quirky bookstores and galleries on every street – what is there not to love about New York! You know how much I adore wandering down beautiful streets lined with quaint little shops, so it's always one of my first stops! On my favourite Tutu Sunday Walk, I stopped at The Painted Pig café in the West Village, indulging in the cutest pink cake I've seen this year and had an impromptu (and amazing!) tutu dance off in Washington Square Park – a beautiful green haven right in the heart of Manhattan. (For all my NYC friends, there's this fun little cafe in the Village with the cutest rainbow coloured umbrellas out on the pavement – make sure you find it, I had the most gorgeous selfie right there with my pink tutu! ).

On a bright, crisp December evening, I said “see you next time” to New York City. As I took one last peek at the sparkling cityscape from my window, I couldn't help but feel a little sad that my week in this vibrant and enchanting city was over! And the feeling was mutual! It was as though the whole city was waving back to me in a farewell ballet of shimmering lights, the sounds of car horns composing a moving symphony – even the city felt a bit sad to see me leave! This incredible metropolis truly gets under your skin; a place that whispers its own brand of magic and leaves a piece of its heart with you.

New York! New York!

Even with all its energy and commotion, I've found myself feeling profoundly peaceful here, and truly "at home". Perhaps that’s what New York offers – it feels like a place that is both extraordinary and ordinary all at the same time; full of possibility, with every little corner promising a brand new adventure – that, combined with a little ballet magic – is a pretty spectacular place to be.

Well, dear friends, that's all from me for this week. I’ll be back next Monday, same time, same place, to tell you about the new pink-tutu adventure – this week? I'm dreaming of making a visit to the city's spectacular fashion archive… it seems every time I travel, my heart dreams of finding that little something extra – maybe I’ll find the inspiration for the ultimate pink tutu ensemble. Do keep an eye out for next week's post – it'll be jam packed full of fabulous finds, tips and of course, plenty of inspiration for wearing pink tutus wherever you may go, be it New York, Derbyshire, or the most extraordinary places in between! 💖

Till next time, stay radiant!

Emma

P.S. You must check out the The Met and The American Ballet Theatre if you get a chance, my lovelies! Let me know in the comments which city you'd love to travel to, wearing your favorite tutu! 💋

P.P.S I also want to shout out to all of my dancers out there: if you see me, give me a quick twirl. You never know – I'm constantly looking for people to feature on the Pink Tutu blog! 😊
