Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post #1626 - A Whirlwind Week in the Big Apple!

Hello my darling Tutu Twirlers!

It's Monday, which means it's time for another pink-tastic instalment of Pink Tutu Blog NYC! I’m Emma, your resident pink tutu-wearing ballerina blogger, bringing you all the glitz and glamour of New York City, one pirouette at a time. I'm so excited to share my whirlwind adventures with you this week.

From Derbyshire to the Big Apple

As you all know, I’m a girl who loves to travel and explore, and this week I found myself jetting off to the Big Apple. I was thrilled to be able to fund my trip with a couple of ballet performances back in Derbyshire - a wonderful rendition of Giselle and a delightful showcase of classical ballet, both of which went down a storm with the local audience. That’s the beauty of my passion for ballet - it allows me to explore the world and share my love of dance with others.

My First Bite of the Apple: Shopping Spree at Macy's

After the whirlwind journey, I checked into my lovely hotel in Midtown and couldn’t wait to start my exploration of New York City! First stop - a pink-tastic shopping spree at Macy’s, a classic NYC experience that never fails to get my heart fluttering.

My pink tulle obsession was definitely indulged in! I found a whole aisle dedicated to the most exquisite tutus in shades of rose, flamingo, and even blush - my inner ballerina couldn’t resist. They’re perfect for dancing on the streets of Manhattan! A fabulous, shimmering top and a sparkly pair of ballet flats completed my New York City wardrobe for the week, and my new bag was emblazoned with a bright pink bow - very much in keeping with my love of all things pretty and pink. I've always been a firm believer in spreading the joy of pink - it's such a positive and vibrant colour! I like to think I'm on a mission to inspire the world to embrace the power of pink and twirl with confidence!

Ballet Beauty: Broadway Bound and Ballet Class

Of course, no trip to New York City is complete without a trip to see a ballet. I got tickets for a special production of "Swan Lake" at Lincoln Center – the iconic setting for ballet and opera in the heart of the city. Oh my, the costumes were a sight to behold, a feast of white feathers and black sequins - simply dazzling! And the dancing? Simply divine! The grace, strength, and artistry of the performers left me completely mesmerised. I’ve always found there’s something quite magical about watching a live ballet, the energy and passion that fills the theatre.

To add to my ballet bonanza, I enrolled in a drop-in ballet class at the wonderful Steps on Broadway dance studio. This class really pushed my boundaries and had me pirouetting and arabesquing alongside dancers of all ages and abilities, a truly uplifting experience!

NYC by Metro: A Tutu-ing Adventure

Who needs a yellow cab when you can explore New York City by metro? My motto? 'Tutu travel is the best travel!'. The subway is a part of the New York City rhythm - and I can't resist a little tutu twirl on the platforms! It's a great way to connect with the local energy and culture, and my pink tulle outfit definitely made a splash amongst the crowds. I got quite a few compliments and smiles. It seems everyone in New York is drawn to a touch of whimsy and a sprinkle of pink!

From Street Art to Broadway Lights: A Cultural Caper

Of course, New York City is so much more than just ballet and Broadway! The vibrant art scene and buzzing street art have me captivated. From colourful murals in Brooklyn to thought-provoking installations in SoHo, every corner of the city seemed to tell a new story.

After a long day of exploring, nothing quite beats enjoying a Broadway show! I’m talking dazzling costumes, dazzling music, dazzling choreography, and captivating storytelling. My recent favourite was a feel-good musical with a happy ending that had me tapping my feet and leaving the theatre with a big grin. It’s no wonder why Broadway shows have captured the imaginations of generations, making memories that last a lifetime.

A Night of Glittering Lights and Gourmet Indulgence

I simply had to see the Christmas lights, and the lights at Rockefeller Center are spectacular, the trees shimmering and the iconic ice skating rink lit up like a fairytale. The air is electric with joy and festive spirit!

Afterwards, a dinner of the most delightful Italian fare at a restaurant in Little Italy had me completely swooning! Every bite was a celebration of flavour and freshness. From the delicate pasta to the creamy tiramisu, my tastebuds were tantalized at every turn. It was the perfect end to a perfect evening.
