Pink Tutu Blog NYC: #1629 - Dancing in the Big Apple! ?

Hello darlings! ?

It's Monday, which means a fresh Pink Tutu blog post just for you! And what a week it's been, all packed with adventures, fashion finds and, of course, plenty of twirling. ? This week I landed in the Big Apple, New York City, a dream I've held ever since I was a little girl watching Fame and A Chorus Line on repeat.

Now, my little lovelies, I know what you're thinking. What's a Derbyshire girl like me doing in the concrete jungle of New York? Well, you see, this whole Pink Tutu journey began in the ballet studio, pirouetting my way through exams and performances. I earned my wings in the world of dance, and it led me right to this incredible trip to New York. The city, you see, is a playground for performers, artists, and dreamers just like me. ?

The journey was itself a little magical. I swapped my trusty Ford Fiesta for a cozy cabin on the Emirates flight, and oh my, was it divine! The luxury and the view just left me feeling like a real princess. My excitement for New York peaked as we landed in the land of Broadway and glittering lights. ?

Speaking of lights, my arrival in the city felt like stepping into one of my favourite ballet productions. You know those dramatic, final scenes with a spotlight beaming down on the ballerina? That was me. Only, instead of a grand stage, I was met with the iconic yellow cabs, towering buildings, and a buzz of energy unlike anything I'd ever felt before.

The Tutu Diaries

You know my motto: "Everywhere is a stage!" So, of course, the first thing I did upon arrival was embrace the pink tutu, my little piece of fashion magic, and spin around in Times Square. It's the perfect way to turn heads and spread the love of twirling in this dazzling city. Let's just say the tourists loved it! ?

The energy here in New York is absolutely contagious, so I’ve decided to start a "Tutu Walkabout". I'll be taking my tutu on adventures around the city every day, sharing pictures with all of you on social media. Let me know if you have any ideas for tutu-worthy locations! ✨

Fashion Fix

I love nothing more than finding stylish gems and New York City did not disappoint! You already know I love vintage clothes and a bit of Parisian flair, so I went straight for Soho to delve into the hidden treasures of vintage stores. The clothes were like stepping into a movie montage.

Of course, my shopping spree was not complete without a stop at Bergdorf Goodman, which you might have seen featured on Gossip Girl. It was so glamorous! I mean, what’s a tutu loving ballerina from Derbyshire to do but to try on the highest of heels and have a look around? ?

I also found this incredible pink knit sweater on 5th Avenue with delicate lace details. Imagine it: me, with my pink tutu, a pink sweater and some beautiful floral leggings (and yes, those leggings are definitely part of the outfit). You’ve just got to follow my socials to see!

Dancing Queen

A trip to New York wouldn't be complete without seeing a show, and you know how much I love ballet, right? The New York City Ballet is legendary. I saw a performance of Giselle, a piece so powerful and elegant. And honestly, I couldn't help but be inspired. It reminded me of why I love dance, the emotions it evokes, and the incredible artistry of every movement. ?

The stage, the costumes, the sheer dedication of the dancers – it's a world I feel so deeply connected to. I'm actually thinking of attending some ballet classes at the American Ballet Theatre, just to see how my Derbyshire moves stack up to the best of the best.

But, darling, I wouldn’t be a Pink Tutu blogger without experiencing something a little outside of the classical world, right? There was a dance festival called "Dance at the Dome" and it was electric! Street dancers, ballet, contemporary, hip-hop - it was a beautiful fusion of talent. It showed me just how much the world of dance can adapt, and honestly, made me even more excited about pushing myself and my style!

A Walk in Central Park

Okay, I need to give a shoutout to Central Park! This isn’t just your average green space, this park has to be the largest stage in the whole world. We took a romantic boat ride through the lake, I even found myself twirling amongst the weeping willows, it felt so magical. Just picture me with a flowing pink tutu against that backdrop, with a gentle breeze in my hair, like a fairytale brought to life.

And darling, there were just so many New Yorkers having their own dance moments - yoga, dancing on the steps, street performers, musicians - the energy in that park just feels so vibrant and artistic, don’t you think?

Taking the Metro

Now, New York has an iconic public transportation system - the Metro, of course. It was a total rush to see this bustling scene unfold every day. Let me tell you, I saw more stylish individuals on my journey in the metro than on the entire catwalks of Paris!

There were all kinds of looks. There were these fabulous girls dressed in their best 90s grunge styles and then these cool kids in bright neon. The metro really is a glimpse into the melting pot of styles in this incredible city. But I just had to add my signature touch! The perfect pairing? A little Pink Tutu. I let the passengers be in awe, taking photos, it's a sight I know they’ll never forget! ?

Food, glorious food!

Okay, you all know I’m a bit of a foodie. And this city has an array of deliciousness! Every street corner seems to offer a new flavour to discover. So naturally, I made it my mission to try a little bit of everything, from steaming hot pastrami on rye to the juiciest New York pizza imaginable!

One of my favourite meals was a lobster roll down by the waterfront. A perfect New York-style lunch with views to die for! I definitely recommend giving this a try if you're visiting New York.

Monday Magic

Monday nights are my favourite! You see, in New York, they have this special thing called "Monday Night Live". There's always a different performance happening, and there's always something exciting going on.

The performances vary week by week. You have everything from comedy to theatre and musicals, to acrobatic dance performances and so much more. My favourite so far was this new play at off-Broadway called Starlight. It's a play about a young ballet dancer who wants to break free of tradition and start a new form of dance. Honestly, it really spoke to my own Pink Tutu dreams! ✨

My Pink Tutu Mission

This whole trip to New York has been about pushing the boundaries of my Pink Tutu dreams. Every city has its own rhythm and energy, and it's just amazing how easily my pink tutu fits into each one. In New York, it's less about being an oddball and more about embracing what makes you stand out and expressing your true self. I've even spotted a few locals embracing their own version of pink tutus! Maybe my message of "Pink Tutus for Everyone" is spreading!

So, that’s all for this week’s blog, my darlings. It’s been such a whirlwind of excitement. And honestly, I can't wait to see what adventures New York City has in store for me in the coming weeks. I've just got to make sure to wear my pink tutu everywhere I go, you know!

Don’t forget to visit the website www.pink-tutu.com and join me next week for my latest NYC adventures! I'm excited to see what Monday has in store for me in this incredible city! ?✨

Remember, dear ones, always keep your chin up, a smile on your face, and a pink tutu handy for those spontaneous moments of twirling magic. Because let's be honest, a little pink never hurt anyone, especially when it's part of a beautiful ballet adventure! ?
