Hello my lovely tutu-ettes! This week finds me right here in the dazzling city that never sleeps, the Big Apple, New York City! I’m here for two whole weeks and I’ve got big plans – think dazzling performances, extravagant shopping sprees and of course, more pink tutus than you can shake a tiara at!
It’s Monday and I’m still buzzing from the whirlwind weekend! My journey from Derbyshire to NYC always feels like a fairy tale. A magical, whirlwind dash to Heathrow, a quick snooze on the plane (with a mandatory face mask, of course!), and a swish of the metro to my delightful little boutique hotel. Honestly, my suitcase is bursting with more tulle and sparkles than you could possibly imagine, so I know this trip is going to be utterly fabulous.
Let’s rewind the clock, shall we? This weekend, I got to perform at the incredible "Gala of Dance" in Central Park! It was magical! Hundreds of spectators, breathtaking backdrops of the iconic skyline and a crowd full of awed faces… the whole thing had a fairy tale quality that made my heart flutter. I even spotted a few tutus amidst the audience - always inspiring to see the magic of pink tutu spreading!
But it wasn’t all glitter and pirouettes! You know I love a good shop and on Saturday I discovered a little vintage clothing heaven. Picture this: floor to ceiling rails of the most incredible vintage treasures – think glamorous cocktail dresses, shimmering sequins and stunning hats that would make even Audrey Hepburn blush! I snagged a stunning vintage broach with tiny pearls that just screamed New York glamour – you can bet it’s going to become a regular feature on my outfits!
Speaking of outfits, let's chat about this week's outfit. Naturally, I'm keeping things fabulous and pink! I'm rocking a fluffy pink tutu, of course! This one's got a dreamy ombre effect that fades from a vibrant magenta to the softest blush at the bottom. It's the perfect mix of bold and whimsical. I paired it with a delicate white blouse and my signature bright pink ballet flats. Add a touch of New York street chic with a black bomber jacket and a glittery crossbody bag, and voila – you have an outfit perfect for a day exploring the city!
Today, I'm starting the week off strong with a ballet masterclass led by the legendary ballerina, Ms. Gabriella Dubois. I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am! You see, I love being challenged in class – the rigorous movements, the stretching, the discipline – it all keeps my body strong and ready to dance. And there’s nothing better than a good sweat in a beautifully mirrored studio, feeling the rhythm flow through you, knowing you're learning and growing as a dancer.
Speaking of dancing, did you know that the "New York City Ballet" is currently presenting "The Nutcracker"? Oh, darling, I'm simply bursting with excitement to go! There’s nothing quite like the magic of "The Nutcracker". The opulent costumes, the delightful music and the fantastical world of the story… It’s always such a treat, and I'm planning to be sitting front row this weekend!
This week also holds a very special surprise for my darling blog followers! Remember the spectacular vintage dress I discovered at the boutique? Well, you'll get to see me rocking it in my latest Instagram post later this week – so be sure to stay tuned!
I also have some very exciting news about a upcoming collaboration – but I'm not quite ready to spill the beans yet. Just know it involves a secret ballet show and some fabulous pink tutu outfits. I'm working on some fun, exclusive photos and stories to share with you all in the coming weeks!
My evenings will be filled with a whirlwind of shows. Broadway has been calling my name all weekend, and I'm determined to see "Hamilton" and "Chicago." They're both so iconic and so brilliantly written. It's amazing to watch the stories unfold, to hear the music, and to feel the energy of the audience – it's a unique form of art and theatre. I even saw a delightful street ballet performance outside the MoMA the other day. What a joy to find such art in unexpected places! I even snagged some delicious, fresh popcorn (you know, gotta have the perfect snack for a show).
But the highlight of any trip to New York City has got to be a stroll through Central Park. The leaves are starting to turn their golden and scarlet hues – just so utterly romantic! I think I’ve probably taken over 50 photos so far! Central Park just inspires me.
You know, there’s just a magic to New York City – the bustling streets, the towering buildings, the sound of the city that never sleeps... and I get swept away by it all! I love exploring new corners, finding quirky little shops, sampling delicious food and of course, taking in all the incredible fashion.
But the truth is, my absolute favourite part of my journey to NYC? Seeing so many people smile when they see my pink tutu! My mission, remember, is to spread the joy of wearing pink tutus to everyone. And it seems to be working! People are truly embracing the tutu! I even saw a whole family in pink tutus near Times Square last weekend - what a dream!
Of course, no trip to New York City is complete without some of their iconic food – the juicy burgers, the steaming hot pretzels, the delicious cheesecake… and all the fabulous cocktails! Tonight, I’m planning to treat myself to a fabulous evening meal and cocktails – all served in a fabulously romantic and glamorous New York eatery, with a live band playing swing music, no less!
Don't forget, you can follow my daily adventures here on my website www.pink-tutu.com, on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook! And feel free to share your own pink tutu adventures using the hashtag #pinktutulife!
Until next Monday, my lovely tutu-ettes, stay sparkly and remember to embrace the power of pink!
Lots of love,
Emma xxx
