Pink Tutu Blog NYC #1638: Twirling Through the City that Never Sleeps!

Hello darlings! Emma here, back from another whirlwind week in the Big Apple, and let me tell you, it's been a doozy! I'm still buzzing from all the excitement, the fabulous shows, and the most amazing tutu shopping spree you could ever imagine. ? As always, I'm thrilled to share my adventures with you lovely lot. Settle in with a cuppa and let's dive in!

A Dance-Filled Week in the Big Apple

I kicked off the week with a masterclass at the American Ballet Theatre. Honestly, you've never seen a more glamorous studio! I was practically hopping with joy as I twirled amongst these incredibly talented dancers. The energy was electrifying! Of course, I sported my new custom-designed "Pink NYC" tutu, just for the occasion. It was all tulle, sparkle, and sheer delight. ? Just picture a delicious, juicy pink cupcake – that's pretty much how I felt in that tutu! ?

After class, I hit up Saks Fifth Avenue, because what's a trip to NYC without a spot of retail therapy? My favourite thing about American department stores is their amazing selection of ballet wear! I found a divine pair of point shoes, adorned with sparkling rhinestones, that I couldn't resist. Can you imagine the stunning pointe work I'll be achieving in these babies? ??

"Hamilton" - The Hip-Hop Historical Epic!

The highlight of the week was without a doubt Hamilton at the Richard Rodgers Theatre! Oh my goodness, this musical is simply phenomenal! It was unlike anything I've ever experienced. Imagine, historical drama infused with hip-hop, R&B, and even a bit of pop music! Genius! It left me completely enthralled! I dare say it may have even surpassed my adoration for The Nutcracker. ?

The cast was breathtaking, and the energy on stage was simply palpable. The storytelling, the music, the choreography – it all came together to create an utterly magical experience. Honestly, I had to stifle a couple of happy tears during some of the most emotional scenes! I must admit, I'm already thinking about catching Hamilton again before I leave New York.

Ballet Dreams Come True: "Giselle" at Lincoln Center

I don't know what I'm more excited about - Giselle or the magnificent David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center! Honestly, the venue itself is a work of art. Just stepping into the foyer was an overwhelming sensation! I was like a little girl in a sweet shop – all wow and gosh! ?

As for the ballet... Oh, dear me, the story and the choreography left me breathless. Such beauty! Giselle truly exemplifies what ballet is all about – delicate, expressive storytelling. I felt a bit like I was floating on a cloud watching those ethereal ballerinas. They simply poured their hearts into every movement, making me weep (again! tear, tear!). I swear, I could almost see the passion in the air around them!

Metro Mania - Exploring New York with a Twirl!

To get between my Hamilton and Giselle adventures, you guessed it – I hopped on the subway! It's always a thrill for me to explore New York's metro system! Even in all this bustling, hurry-hurry, get-to-the-point city, you'll always find someone willing to make room for a pink tutu. ? People in New York just get it. ?

Honestly, the metro reminds me so much of London’s Underground! It's a bit older, definitely quirkier, but just as charming! My little dance routine with fellow commuters (the Twirling Trio, we're working on it) is already becoming quite a sight to see. ?

I just love people-watching from the metro. You can witness the incredible diversity and pace of life in New York. There are people going about their day, young and old, from all walks of life, all sharing this vibrant urban pulse.

Shopping for My Pink Tutu Dreams

This city just oozes glamour. And there's nothing more fun than indulging in a little luxury shopping while on vacation, isn't there? ? My favourite shops in NYC are absolutely jam-packed with stylish delights! Oh, the fashion finds I discovered this week…

From luxurious boutiques with intricate hand-crafted jewellery to second-hand clothing stores bursting with vintage gems, New York's got it all! And the tutu selection? Incredible! I can't resist those fluffy, tulle wonders. Honestly, it’s like they were designed for me! ?

I managed to grab a new, ultra-fabulous tutu that’s all shimmery silver with sparkling rhinestones and an extra-long train. It just screams "New York glamour!" ? The ladies at Dance Central, my favourite shop, say I look like a true Broadway princess, and I think they might be right!

Embracing the Tutu Revolution: Pink Power in New York!

I saw something incredible on my walk through Central Park this weekend. There was a whole group of kids – boys and girls - twirling around with pink tutus! A few were sporting ones that matched mine! It made my heart sing to see the joy and happiness on their faces as they were spinning in those bright pink tutus! ? You could practically feel the love! ? It made me so proud to be part of the Pink Tutu revolution!

My little pink dream is really becoming a reality, darling! More and more people are embracing the beauty of pink tutus – and I think that’s simply magical. I always knew it was going to happen, but this experience has made me more optimistic than ever. I am convinced the world is ready for more pink, more sparkle, more joy. Let's embrace the power of pink, one tutu at a time!
