My journey began a few years ago when I took a leap of faith, swapped my Derbyshire cobbled streets for the bright lights of New York. I remember arriving at Penn Station and being simply mesmerized! It was an experience so different from the charming peacefulness of the Peak District, but exciting and full of opportunity!
For someone like me, who dreams of dance and lives for a twirl, there couldn't be a more perfect city! New York embraces the extraordinary, the creative and the bold! There’s a sense of freedom that makes you feel like you can absolutely do anything - even dance on the subway! ?
From Stage to Subway: Balancing Dreams and Budgets
Here's the secret about a pink tutu wearing ballerina who lives for the glitz and glamour of Broadway - it’s not all champagne wishes and caviar dreams. ? I’ve got to balance the cost of following my passion, keeping up my style, and being a responsible grown-up (ish). ?
Thankfully, dancing has always been my passion and it’s how I fund my adventures! I have the incredible opportunity to perform, share my love of ballet and get paid for doing what I love best! So, when you see me twirling at the latest ballet production, it’s my own hard work and dedication that got me there. ?
New York, New York: The Magic of The City
Today, as I stepped out onto the bustling sidewalks of Times Square, I couldn't help but be completely in awe of my surroundings. The vibrant lights, the energy and excitement - it's truly electric! ✨
I'm on a quest to experience every facet of this wonderful city, from the street-art scene in the East Village to the bustling boutiques on Fifth Avenue. And of course, I’ll share every delightful detail with you, my wonderful readers.
Shopping Spree!:
Today's adventure took me to Bergdorf Goodman, a true treasure trove of elegance and fashion! I simply had to explore this iconic store! You wouldn’t believe the divine shoes, hats and, of course, tutus! ?
From fluffy, bright pink tulle tutus perfect for a day out to sparkling crystal-encrusted masterpieces fit for a royal ballerina - I was spoilt for choice. But my love of all things pink led me to a stunning light-pink tutu adorned with delicate hand-stitched embroidery. It’s utterly divine and perfectly captures that “I'm in New York” feeling. ?
Catching a Show - The Must-Do New York Experience
Every night, there's a dazzling show happening on Broadway and every once in a while I get to indulge! Last night I had the honour of witnessing “An American In Paris” at the beautiful, historic Palace Theatre. The energy of the audience and the sheer talent of the performers was captivating!
Of course, the dazzling costumes and the beautifully executed ballet numbers brought a happy tear to my eye. (Don’t worry, I always have tissues in my tutu pocket. ? )
This city is truly a cultural treasure trove. ? It inspires me every day!
