#PinkTutuBlogNYC Monday 2027-11-15: Dancing in the Big Apple! ??

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, and I'm back with you from the vibrant, energetic metropolis that is New York City! This week, my pink tutu journey takes us on a whirlwind exploration of everything that makes this city a ballet lover's paradise. Today is my day for a post, my 1693rd, from New York City - and as you know, I’m in NYC for the next month, travelling all around from my hotel, exploring and blogging – and most importantly, dancing my socks off!

It's always exciting when you touch down in a new city, especially when that city is known for its cultural vibrancy. Stepping off the plane in New York, I couldn't resist whipping out a few spins in the terminal (with the ever-essential permission from airport staff of course, darling!), feeling that buzz of anticipation - I'd always dreamed of performing in New York! And just this weekend, I had a chance to do that on Broadway. Oh darling, it was pure magic!

You'd be right to assume my life isn't entirely about tutus. In fact, while I wear pink tulle as much as possible - even in this wonderful concrete jungle of a city! – the real inspiration behind the #PinkTutuBlogNYC is about showcasing a fun, inspiring, and feminine side to this glorious city. And believe me, there’s so much to inspire me here in terms of art, fashion and dance, and I just want to share the passion and excitement with you all!

Let's kick things off with a little about my trip from Derbyshire! I love my county, I’m so happy to be a Derbyshire lass - but the Big Apple has my heart! It was amazing how seamlessly my flight was and my trip into Manhattan on the metro, too - my big, bold suitcase and I made quite an impression, especially as it’s pink, too! And darling, you wouldn’t believe how much the locals on the metro adore a pink tutu…

Ballet: The Beat of My Heart

My first week in New York has been a whirlwind of excitement. As I always do when I visit a city, I’ve spent many an evening taking in the amazing ballet shows, from iconic Broadway stages to the intimate, historical theatres in the Lower East Side, each show has left an indelible mark on me.

This weekend, I graced the stage at the historic Empire Theatre, for a fantastically exhilarating rendition of 'Sleeping Beauty' - and it was an absolutely unforgettable evening. My heart still feels like it's dancing with delight just thinking about it. Every glance, every leap, every gesture... the emotion that I poured into the role of Princess Aurora had the audience captivated, and the final bow, oh darling, the final bow - the thunderous applause left me breathless. It was such a privilege to share this timeless story with a New York audience.

The audience gave a standing ovation - I absolutely love performing and I’m a true advocate for the classical dance form. Even for someone like myself who is an amateur dancer - the beautiful, powerful, classical forms are deeply moving! After every show, my joy and love of the stage spills over onto social media – the sheer beauty of dance needs to be shared with the world!

You know I don't limit myself to grand stages; I always try to get to as many street performances and studio classes as possible - which is a fun and fascinating side of the dance world! It really gives you a glimpse into the real, authentic heart and soul of dance, the dedication and sheer passion, in each and every performer!

There is always a performance around every corner, and every time I visit, I am impressed with the talent that abounds in NYC, in places such as Brooklyn and Staten Island! There is such a wonderful community here, from professional studios and troupes to local dance clubs for amateurs and students like myself - there are truly so many opportunities to learn, create and connect.

Fashion: My NYC Love Affair

But I can't just dance my days away in this magnificent city, can I? Darling, this week’s blog needs to include the magnificent NYC Fashion! And how could I write about it without a mention of pink tutus? They go together like chocolate and peanut butter.

New York Fashion Week is a constant inspiration to me, although there’s fashion around every corner! From vintage to contemporary, and designer shops to chic boutiques, I’m loving exploring the city’s fashion scene and discovering my next statement outfit. It's like a never-ending game of dress-up, but with way more sparkle and sequins.

On Tuesday I was at a fabulous little vintage shop in the West Village - just as the gorgeous autumn leaves were swirling around, falling all over the place. I was absolutely thrilled to pick up a few new vintage tulle skirts, perfectly vintage, that add a playful and ethereal feel to my wardrobe - and that I know I will wear again and again.

Eating, Exploring, & Shopping - New York’s Soul

Besides dance, ballet, and shopping - I am such a big foodie! The energy that buzzes around this amazing city is contagious, and as I often say to my readers - it really is what you make it! From trying those famous New York bagels, to strolling down Broadway – a veritable playground for fashionistas! I have an idea in mind that will put my wardrobe to the test, I just need to decide on my theme.

And I’m not neglecting my own fashion and beauty regime! You bet I’ve been hitting those fabulous hair and make-up stores – my New York city beauty has been feeling totally glammed up with an edgy, glamorous vibe. There are just so many talented stylists and make-up artists - it’s really making me feel fantastic.

And then there’s the culture. This is truly a culture-rich metropolis and with so many amazing things to see and experience. I don't know how many museums I've been to so far! - so much art, such a vibrant artistic scene. I spent an afternoon in MoMA and I'm actually going to see if I can catch a few more shows and some art galleries before I head back to Derbyshire! I feel I’m on an epic cultural adventure!

Planning my Next Trip to New York!

The day's almost over, my darlings! Time to slip into my most comfy pink tutu - it's been an action-packed day. I’ve truly felt a connection to this city, and after having had the most extraordinary time dancing in this fantastic city, I’m already thinking of next time…

If you’re looking for a truly inspiring and breathtaking trip, then a trip to New York should be right up your street. It’s easy to see why this city continues to be the centre of global attention, and with its vibrant energy, culture, and endless opportunities to explore, it's an exhilarating adventure. I’ve found a deep connection to New York in all its chaotic, stylish, vibrant glory - and I hope you’ve had an enjoyable read of this week’s blog.
