Hello lovelies!
It's Monday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Blog NYC post! ? I am so excited to be back in the city that never sleeps, New York City! As you all know, I'm a bit of a dancing fool, and NYC is absolutely buzzing with incredible ballet performances, classes, and, of course, shopping.
I'm not going to lie, it feels rather fabulous to be back in my favourite city. The air just crackles with energy, and I'm ready to soak up every minute! But first, let's chat about this weekend! It was November 20th, and let me tell you, my little tutu-wearing self was totally spoilt for choice.
Friday - A Fabulous Frock Show!
You know I always have to fit in a bit of shopping when I'm in the city! It's no surprise I love NYC, with its vibrant fashion scene, and I spent Friday exploring the charming shops of Greenwich Village. ?️
My goal? Find a dress fit for a queen, and I certainly found one - a dazzling red gown adorned with intricate beadwork! I may be known for my pink tutus, but a little colour splash is always fun. Plus, you never know what the evening will hold in the city that never sleeps! ?
Saturday - Ballet Magic
And then came the highlight of my weekend! Saturday was all about ballet - because who can resist a good performance? I saw the most wonderful performance at the New York City Ballet. It was like being whisked away to a world of pure imagination and elegance, with the dancers moving with grace and power. There’s something incredibly magical about watching ballet in such a vibrant and beautiful city.
And you know what I spotted? Two little girls, no older than six, with little pink tutus and tiny tiaras, watching the performance with absolute wonder in their eyes. ?? It warmed my heart! I absolutely adore seeing young dancers take inspiration from the professionals - maybe one day we'll see them on that very same stage!
Sunday - Sunday Funday - Ballet Street!
Sunday meant another amazing ballet experience! But this time, it was street ballet. I ventured into Washington Square Park to enjoy some open-air performances and the unique blend of dance and street art.
Some talented dancers were expressing themselves through incredible choreography, right in the middle of the park, against the backdrop of the beautiful buildings surrounding the square. You could feel the energy and the joy in the air as the performers captivated everyone around them. It’s incredible to see dance blossom in unexpected places! ?
But why the metro? A Tale of Tutu-clad Adventures!
So, the last thing I want to talk about today is my mode of transport around the city: the metro! ?
You might be wondering - why the subway? Well, for a start, it's efficient, cost-effective, and it allows you to travel all over the city easily. And, of course, let's not forget about the joy of watching the city's diverse crowds going about their day. But most importantly, my little Pink Tutu adventures on the subway always create quite the stir. It's an exciting little game, getting my little tutu noticed in this giant city. I find it strangely calming.
There are few things I enjoy more than stepping onto the bustling platform in my bright pink tutu, feeling the stares, the surprised smiles, and sometimes even the whispers of, "Oh my, she's certainly unique!"
Honestly, sometimes people even strike up conversations. "Where are you headed to, in your fabulous outfit?" is a common question! I always love sharing the story of the Pink Tutu Blog and encouraging people to step out of their comfort zones and find a bit of fun in life.
But that's the thing, you know. People don't see the pink tutu, they see something different. They see courage, creativity, fun and a sense of self-expression that speaks to the joy that’s inside us all. It makes them smile. And that, to me, is what it’s all about.
Making a Difference – One Pink Tutu at a Time! ??
After all, that’s why I travel and blog – to spread a little joy and to encourage everyone to embrace their own inner diva, tutu or not. If I can inspire a few smiles and a little confidence by rocking my bright pink tutu on the subway, well, that’s a pretty amazing feeling!
And that, lovelies, is just the start of the adventures I have in store! New York City is bursting with life, art, fashion and music – and, you guessed it, lots of fun opportunities to flaunt my love for all things pink and tutu! I can’t wait to see what the next week holds for a tutu-loving, fashion-obsessed ballerina like me.
